XT1028 Future bootloader unlock? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Name Goes here: i see, thank you for your time, is it possible that both of these devices bootloaders will be unlockable in the future?
Motorola Employee: At this moment, since MotoG is considered a new device as it was just out of the market for some time, not yet.
Motorola Employee: By the time that we receive roll-outs from Corporate, we will surely let you know via the web site.
Name Goes here: Since Verizon locks most of their bootloaders (including my old Motorola Droid RazR) does this make the chances even worse?
Motorola Employee: Not really.
Motorola Employee: The more the demand, the more chances of updates, revisions and changes.
Motorola Employee: I. myself, am one of those who still wait for this.

Hopefully Motorola is still one of us and wants to unlock this bootloader of these XT1028? Verizon is terrible.

I can guarantee you that there is 0% chance verizon will allow unlocking of the bootloader.

It's not up to HTC, it was probably a requirement to have the device on AT&T. Seeing as how they complied with the Vivid, I can see why they would comply here.

Ugh... I have a Rogers HTC One XL but I also had a Motorola Atrix and went through the same frustrations with the locked bootloader.
I really hope we can find a solution having an identical device on a different network. Best of luck, you guys.

the rogers one x unlocks fine. AT&T seems to have wanted their devices 'blacklisted' which clearly sucks.
@Pirateghost: how was the unlocked bootloader achieved for the AT&T Holiday? ... And I wonder if the method can be used in this case to 'break' at&t's one x bootloader.
@Paul: I'm guessing you've already sent an email to htc regarding the matter. If they reply, do share.
Like others, if this remains the case, my phone will be returned to AT&T immediately! That's an absolute joke.

He knows that, judging from his post.
That's why he mentioned the Atrix, in order to show he can understand our pain.
Right?
If it's not available on the 6th, we'll need to protest. I'm tired of this **** AT&T pulls.
What hurts them then worst is bad PR. If we make their PR worse, they'll allow it.

Urgent question regarding bootloader!

Is there any way to unlock a droid mini using motorola's website? I'm interested in buying a bootloader unlocked droid mini, and the person who's selling it to me says he did so on motorola's website.. the thing is, I don't see the droid mini listed as a device that can be unlocked, so I'm weary... that is, unless he unlocked it using the chinese man's method. He sent me a picture of the "bootloader unlocked" message on the phone and a TWRP screen on it as well...
Any thoughts? I'm really torn between getting this phone and the s4 mini, though the s4 mini costs a lot more it has a microsd card and I'm not sure if the droid mini's camera update a while back made it so its' camera is comparable to the s4 mini.
Anyway, please any reply could really save my bacon!

That's the thing, I'm not sure it is, I'm pretty sure he's not lying but I wanted to make sure since it's a big deal for me- I had an android phone with a locked bootloader and no rom flashing capability and it really sucked, in any case If he's unlocked great but I wanna know if his story checks out- is there an unlock for droid mini on the motorola website? (photos can be photoshopped and all)
I don't believe there is an official unlock method for the mini, just the Chinese guy. I would ask the seller for more clarification before buying.
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
he simply unlocked it via the chinese metod, then used the motorola website to unlock it, theres nothing be worry about, you wont get another droid mini with bootloader unlocked easily.
Whats really your concern?

The problem is that the Chinese method doesn't use the Motorola website, it's one or the other. The code from the Chinese guy is the code you would use the website to get. Just sounds a little fishy is all.
Edit to clarify, you don't use the Motorola website to unlock the device, that is done directly on your computer.

As long as you can handle not having a warranty on your device you should be fine with it being unlocked by a non standard method

Unlocking via any method voids the warranty. How it's unlocked makes absolutely no difference. Unlocked is unlocked.

There is no way to unlock a droid mini from Motorola's website. The website only give you instructions on how to unlock once you have a code, but you have to get the code from somewhere else. I would just ask if the seller got it from the Chinese guy because he may just be trying to simplify things by just saying he got it from moto (since most people wouldn't know the difference anyways).
As far as photo shop, anyone can just come on XDA and find photos we all have taken and post one of those. You won't know until you get the phone if it's real or not. Risk you take buying phones second hand.
Tell him to send you a picture of the bootloader it will say unlocked status 3 and have him put something in the picture specific to you so he can't just download a screen shot. the only thing suspect is him saying he unlocked via moto site that is not possible. The mini didn't have a dev edition..

Droid Maxx 4.4.4

I'm new to the site and to rooting so for give me if i ask some dumb questions. How do i root the droid Maxx 4.4.4 I just got the phone and i'm going from the droid razr maxx that is not rooted. 4.4.4 cant be rooted unless unlocked bootloader. Bootloader cant be unlocked if on 4.4.4.
If unlocked there are tether exploits available.

Extremely unlikely. The moto maxx community has practically thrown money at developers with fruitless results. Nobody has any interest in rooting this phone and the majority of us have lost hope. I'm going to go with no and say a root for the maxx is never going to happen.

You can contact motorola to have them give you a unlock code for your phone. I actually have the Developer addition so that makes it different from yours but it should not make that big of a difference on the consumer side. It will just void your warranty. I hope that helps.

Take it with a grain of salt, the bootloader is unlockable.

According to the LG USA IG account, the bootloader is unlockable. (Except Verizon) No idea of it's going to be like the G5 though. I'd assume it will be, but 7.0 security is a different beast, from what I've read.

That check box in Developer Options doesn't guarantee a thing, the dude probably thinks that's all you have to do to bootloader unlock.
It's better than nothing, but,in the context of his statement,it reveals nothing more than that.

We also need required fastboot commands as well, or we have to flash .tot or .dz through LGUP.
Pretty sure all the v10s would let you check the box in developer options. Then when you went to actually unlock only the t-mobile version would actually allow it.
Once t-mobile v10 was updated to mm the unlock still worked but none of the commands to flash were recognized. Therefore the only way to get root on the mm t-mobile v10 is to use lgup with a root injected file. T-Mobile v10 is the only US version that has root + custom recovery.
Would be nice if it's different for V20.... I guess we'll see...

Sprint - Anyone regret unlocking the bootloader

So I just picked up a refurbished Sprint v20. It is currently at zv3 so i'll be able to use Dirty Santa. My issue is do I? I know there's no going back since there isnt a factory image for Sprint.
If you've unlocked, are you happy you did so?
Very happy. but im biased since i made it...
Well, I didn't need much convincing. Thanks! Very smooth process, it's really nice to actually have TWRP on a lg phone again. Haven't had that since my LG G2.
yea it was a no brainer for me coming from a sgs7e , i hated the fact i could not do nanddroids or flash custom roms, i love my v20.
Bootloader possibly unlocked
So I just called Sprint and reemed them on how there bootloader practices are illegal and that this is an open source phone. Not an Iphone. My device is paid off ect. They supposedly are fully unlocking it as we speak. In the mid of a six hour phase I guess. I was told not to reboot during six hours. On ZVD firmware btw. If this does happen to get fully unlocked including bootloader ect., can I finally root my phone? I really hope so. I am running out of options.

Open source doesn't mean you have to have an unlocked bootloader. Open source just means you must be provided with a copy of the source code of the open source components (some parts are closed source), which LG has complied by allowing anyone access through this site.
Personally I'd be surprised if it's even technically feasible for them to unlock your bootloader.

Ok...well anyway not being able to root is still garbage. Especially on a device that is paid off. I only pay for service.
Love also how - the variant is rootable and this one is not game. So should I be mad a Sprint or LG? Whos fault is it?Rooting is perfectly legal. Seems blocking it is just as legal in this case.

Because this has the flagships that I want. Except root. Cant even find a rootable one to buy unless I get a non sprint phone. I am also not posting out of anger, but for irritation of companies thinking that thay can do what ever and we have to take it.
Was wondering tho, if I am network unlocked, cant I take to a different carrier and their firmware would replace Sprints ZVD one (cdma I know) , and then be able to root via that phone/firmware method?

If it wasn't for antirollback (all other firmware, except the h918 which has a different key so no other variant can flash it, is antirollback 0) you could, but the way it is you'd brick if you forced it on there.
