[Q] Force Off Phone - Verizon HTC One (M8)

My phone is having many many issues, and I can not get it to power off. I've held the power button down for minutes on end but it won't do anything. And to be specific, I'm not in a Rom trying to do this, I'm stuck in some sort of "grey" screen hell. If I plug into my computer, ADB recognizes it and will even pull a device number, but the phone will not respond to any command. I'm really just trying to get to the fastboot screen so I can hopefully flash the RUU.
Any help would be greatly appreciate.
Thanks

You have to hold power+vol up. I think it's something like 10 sec.

Hold up on volume and power at the same time, this is equal to a battery pull and as soon as the phone turns off hold volume down and power to enter fast boot.

I did that for several minutes. It never actually powered off. Fortunately the battery died, and I was able to plug the phone back in and then do what I needed.
Thanks guys!

If you don't know what it is you don't have one, and more than likely won't know how to use one... have you tried keeping the battery out for a bit (2-3 minutes), I had a minor issue that when I tried booting NVFlash and install recovery, after pulling the battery and replacing it within a second my phone wouldn't boot

Not to worry -- this happens occasionally. Just try turning it on normally (don't hold vol up + down, just hit power) with the phone plugged-in without the battery, plugged-in with the battery, unplugged with the battery...lather, wash, repeat.
It will work eventually. Not sure what causes the issue, but I've had two of these phones so far and both had this issue.
ok

i dont know why it is doing this anyway ??
Yeah just keep trying remove and replace the battery a couple of times or even more than just a couple of times. I had to do this but it eventually turned back on.

unplug from any cables, hold power+volume down for ~15 seconds. phone should reboot.
if this does not work, try power + volume up, to see if you can get in fastboot
Got it working. I literally tried every button combo I could think holding them for as long as a minute. Went to vzw and the guy got it into to fastboot on the first try... power button and volume up is what he said he did... don't know why it didn't work for me

Not many signs of life

Just bought an HTC Sensation off craigslist for $10, Said he couldn't get it to boot so I was wondering if anybody had any ideas why.
Here's what I can get to happen.
1. If I pull the battery then try to turn it on, orange light comes on screen come on for a second and then it turns off. When I plug it into a power source the same thing happens
2. if I hold volume down or up and press the power button, nothing happens on the screen but it vibrates, and continues vibrating, mind you the volume button is missing I'm using a pen to push the button.
3. Read that it could be the battery but I tried the battery in my HTC Inspire and it works fine.
Any ideas what to try next?
Also i get nothing when I plug it into a computer.

Remove charger and let the phone battery die, might take a long time depending on how much it was charged
Try connecting the white MicroUSB > USB adapter that came with the phone to something power hungry to drain it quicker
Power off you device and then wait 10 seconds. After waiting press and hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons at the same time
After the phone vibrates, let go of the Power button, while still holding the other two buttons until Android System Recovery screen appears.
Using the "Volume Down" button, highlight "wipe cache partition" and press the Power button to select it.
After the cache partition is cleared, the Galaxy S7 will reboot automatically. This worked for me ans I hope this will help

Run the battery out, once the phone is off it might get out of whatever loop it is stuck in
Then connect charger and power on

Red LED should not show when charger is not connected though
Press power button plus volume up and down hold for 5 to 10 sec it will restart ur phone same thing happen with on s6 but not on s7.
I once had to press vol up and down, power and home (that's all buttons) at the same time for ten seconds for the S7 to reboot as it was stuck and seemingly dead. No led on at the time though. But I have disabled the leds in the settings anyway.
UPDATE!
The battery discharged completely(red led was off),first i tried to put it in download mode and IT WORKED!!! But the phone wouldn't turn on because the battery was 0%.I charged it and now it works fine :| I hope this was something software related and not hardware and i hope this will never happen again.Thx for the help guys!

Great
Sounded like it just got stuck, and because you can't take the battery out you have to wait for discharge :good:

Yup ?
Same problem
I have the same issue... Tried to charge my phone with 15% battery and after a few hours it was 8%. Tried to reboot, charge with the phone turned off but nothing was happening ( not charging, not booting up. tried buttons combinations as well ). The led is not showing up on mine because i disabled it from the settings so i'm not sure if it's charging or not. Took the phone to an authorized service on friday so next week i'll be getting a response from them. By the way, the phone is only one week old :crying:

My A8 (2018) is not turning on or charging

Last night, I charge my phone because I notice that it was in 8% so plug it in to charge. An hour later, I check the phone if it was fully charge. I use my fingerprint to unlock but it is not recognizing it so I press the button to wake it but it is not waking up. I tried pressing for much longer to see if it wake or turn on but it is not. I tried pressing the Volume Down + Power to see if I can soft reset but that does not work as well. Plug it in the PC to see if it recognize it but it is not. I left it charging the whole night come morning when I woke and tried everything again but still won't turn on.
What could be causing this?

Try, press Power + Volume Up + Volume Down. You should enter in the Download mode. Press the Volum UP button. Now release the button. Now press Power + Volume Down and wait until the logo appears. The system should be boot.

I even tried pressing it for 30 minutes. Fingers went numb. Still not working. I think it might have been drained to 0% and the phone stops receiving power upon charging.
