[Q] Need stock recovery.img for Moto G - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't find the stock recovery.img for the moto g anywhere online. I'm giving my Boost Mobile Moto G (running Verizon 4.4.2 on PagePlus) to a friend and I want to flash the stock recovery.img back on it so he can update/factory reset it normally. He's not a nerd like me and could screw up his phone otherwise.
Also I'm not sure if I need a specific recovery.img since I'm running Verizon firmware on a Boost Moto G. I'm guessing I'd need the Verizon one.

Just download the stock firmware and flash the stock recovery image from it.

Or download the img file with the moto tool that's floating around the faq

http://sbf.droid-developers.org no longer has the latest firmware images. 4.4.2 images may not flash since you have the 4.4.4 Bootloader.

How to update a rooted Moto G (XT1032) 4.4.4 to 5.0?

Hi,
the title says it all:
How can I apply the 5.0 OTA update on a rooted, unlocked Moto G XT1032 with CWM recovery?
I don't care about root anymore and I have used SuperSU to unroot the phone.
But in order to apply the update I need to install the stock recovery, otherwise the device will get stuck in a bootloop.
How do I do this? I have tried using MotoToolAIO and its "Flash Stock Recovery KitKat" button but get a
Code:
hab check failed for recovery
message every time I try.
Could you guys please tell me how to get the stock recovery installed on this phone? As I said I don't care about losing root and I don't mind relocking the phone if necessary. I would really appreciate any pointers you can give me. Possibly without losing my data & apps. Thank you.
This page apparently is supposed to contain all those stock files but it is broken: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14
This manual seems to be helpful for similar cases, it did not help me, though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219
Download the stock 4.4.4 ROM for your phone, extract the recovery.img file, and flash it using fastboot commands.
You also need to be unrooted with the stock Motorola apps.

If you think that solves the proble, well...yes. But where do I find that file? As I indicated the only possible source seems to be unavailable currently. I can't find any other.
Does anyone here have an XT1032 DE singleSIM recovery image lying around?
As I am currently living in South Africa and internet is not reall stable it would be amazing if someone could offer just the recovery file instead of the whole 500-600MB dump.
I have a Canadian xt1032 running stock Telus 4.4.4 firmware. Not sure if that recovery would work but I could find it if you want to try it.
Don't forget to unroot too.
I unrooted too using SuperSU and managed to restore the stock recovery using MotoTool (find it on XDA). These are the basic requirements for installing an OTA. But after the OTA is downloaded and I try to install it, the process starts and in about 10 seconds it displays "Error" and boots to 4.4.4 again. Any recommendations?
^^did you remove any of the stock Motorola apps?
No, and Motorola Update Services is updated to the last version.

I doubt it - and fear what might happen if it goes wrong, to be honest. But thanks a lot for the offer. I was able to locate a Retail package for the DE version and will try to download the whole beast, hoping that the connection is stable for these 3 hours.
Even though nobody answered me, I found out what's going on. Lollipop OTAs cannot be installed on modified devices.
You could try out some custom ROM if you are unable to get the official 4.4.4. Carbon and CM11 are some customs ROMs I know of.
There are great unofficial ROMs on the moto g xda forum too!! Don't forget to have a look.

I'm thinking of Resurrection Remix 5.0.2
You could also check out mokee, crdroid, xperience. And don't forget to check out the ROMs in the forum list

One question man. I have 4.4.4 installed. Do I have to install stock 5.X in order to get lollipop bootloader before installing any ROM?

how did you manage to un-modify your device? I just bought the Moto G (2013) and have unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP and haven't had any luck installing ANY firmware after 4.4.4.... I'm always getting stuck on the bootlogo and have to return back to stock 4.4.4...

You need to have factory firmware and recovery installed in order to update via OTA.

Long story short, upgraded moto g xt1031 boost mobile to soak test .rooted phone then got a message about a new update.can't install the update cause I was rooted.tried unroofing ,installed a custom recovery to wipe everything then reflashed stock recovery. Then DL the stock lollipop rom and it won't install saying it was expecting 4.4 or something like that.

As far as I know there is NO stock lollipop release for boost mobile moto g. The reason its giving you that message is because its trying to update your boot loader, but your not on the stock KitKat that came with your phone.

Yeah, until they release a full firmware I think you would need to fastboot flash back to Boost stock 4.4.4 without root to take an OTA.
If you have 41.19 bootloader, you will have to skip motoboot and gpt, of course
Let us know if you figure it out, as I suspect this will become a common issue once official firmwares start rolling out (if they ever do!)

Got it back to 4.4..4 by following this thread ,not sure exacty what did it but had fully working KitKat afterwards I upgraded back to lollipop with no issues.

I had a script based KitKat file ,I got somewhere off XDA awhile back. I used to restore the phone.

Moto G xt1031 Stock Firmware Bootloop

well this is interesting whenever I try to flash the stock firmware for my Moto G xt1031 ... it goes into a boot loop upon it saying "starting services" the only fix I found is to install a custom ROM... and I also cannot activate it with boost since I want to sell this phone.
Look for correct firmware for your Moto..
And local firmware..
Need more info...
What firmware are you flashing?
What's your system version?
What's your bootloader version?
Did you erase userdata?
Did you flashed the lollipop soak test?
Did you "upgrade" your bootloader?
Are you getting any errors when you flash the stock firmware?
Are you flashing with fastboot or mfastboot?
