I have been using TWRP recovery for the longest time.
I had to recently change my SD card due to issues to a 64 gig SanDisk MicroSCXC card
All recoveries work fine. CWM, Phil etc but for some reason TWRP wont allow saving backup to external
it gives error
E: Unable to create folder: /external_sd/TWRP/
errno=13
failed to make backup folder
I formatted the card to exFat and Fat32 and in both cases same thing
Recovery can read the SD with no issues
Any ideas at this point?

Make sure you're using the latest version. Had that issue on 2.6. Something. Since then I've updated to the newest and have no issues.

What is the reason that custom tw roms do not support exfat format for the sd card? The phone does natively support it, what was removed or modified?

Ah. It's just funny that i got that same card and never formatted it. Just plug and play on stock root. But when i go to a custom tw Rom, as soon as it boots it says"sd card is safe to remove" and reinserting gives the same message.
I thought that maybe it was because it came formatted exfat. But now I'm just lost as to the reason. Is there a way to see what format it is formatted in? Just curious as to what my issue is before i just nuke the problem by formatting it "fat"

Ok, so from what i gather. These cards are most likely shipped with exfat. Which explains why people complain about clockwork mod. I plugged my card right in and was pleased to see it worked out of box, but i also noticed cwm would not mount it. No big deal because people can flash from internal memory. But i flashed beans the other day and exfat was ejected. Also i read in other custom Rom (touchwiz) that people need to format fat32. I guess that's fine, but i would like an explanation to help my understanding.

I've had my Skyrocket since I bought it at the start of the year, recently I've been getting a problem with my SD card where the phone will keep making copies of the media files on the SD card, music and pictures especially and these copies are just blank ones that don't work. It's rather annoying and the problem causes my playlists to not work and the only fix I've found is to unmount and remount the card. Is this a SD card issue or an issue with the phone itself? Also after the remounting all my playlists are emptied out, and the copies get continually made, I've seen it make two additional copies.

I'm using the official ICS ROM from AT&T, 4.04
Today I was browsing the Google Play Store for apps to install on my new Galaxy Tab 2 7", but after a while of downloading and installing I've been greeted with the wonderful "Insufficient Storage Available" error. The weird thing is that my extsdcard has 12gb+ of free space and my internal memory has 4gb+ to use. I've cleared my cache and fixed permissions in CWM Recovery but nothing has worked. I'm currently running CM10 Nightly build for 12-14-12 and that was my first ROM installed on this device. I'm also running the corresponding CM10 kernel. If anyone could help me, I would be greatly appreciative!

Do you know if it works with other CW10 ROMS (like the ones in this forum)?
I've used it on both CM and Paranoid 4.1 roms - as well as most of the other available customs, including the mostly stock versions. I saw your post in the general forum . and cannot reply to the 4.2 question
I have not really tried the CM 10.1 Unofficial ROM yet

Alright, thanks for the quick response! :good:
I have a i727r and for some reason the CPU is limited to 1.2 GHZ. I have system tuner and cpu spy installed and they both report 1.2 ghz when playing 3d games.
It wasn't always like that. It used to be 1.5ghz (maybe on an older rom, i'm not sure)
How can I find out what is going on?
Android: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I727UCLD2
Kernel: 3.0.8-perf-I727RUXLF3-CL611724
Build: IMM76D.RUXLF3
Please let me know if you need any more info.
Thanks.

I was planning on flashing to the latest version. How do I go about clearing the phone's internal memory at the same time? I've accumulated a lot of misc junk files and would like to clear it out. Do I just manually delete all folders? which folders aren't safe to delete?
Thanks
If you're gonna wipe and flash something newer, connect your phone to a pc and from there browse your files on your sd card...Collect your music, pictures and anything personal...All the rest will be discarded anyway when you'll flash a newer Rom...
My suggestion is that you flash the latest AT&T JB leak UCLL3 or if you're on Rogers ,Odin the latest official JB Rom from Rogers...Head to the dev section for all the required files and steps...

It's not correct that all will be discarded when you flash another Rom. You'll internal sdcard will not be touched. If you want to completely clean it you should format it after you get everything off you want.

Like stated earlier, save what you want to keep and make sure the file you are flashing is on an external sd card. Flash the rom you want and after in the recovery, under "mount" you will have the option to format the internal sdcard.

There is an option in recovery for formatting the sd card [this is the int memory]. This is were all the misc junk files are. Before you flash your rom, format sd card, system, cache, data, delvik cache. Then mount usb copy the rom back to your phone and flash it.

Ahhh I see lol I seen no one else had posted so I figured I would tell my experience. This is wayyyy better than cwm by far at least for the blaze. Cwm seems to have problems flashing on our phone. I have tried many different versions from official to unofficial of cwm and all of them wouldn't correctly format the partitions.

TWRP and CWM are both custom recoveries that have the same functionality performed in unique ways. Each person has their own preference. Before today, I've never used anything except for CWM (with the exception of putting CM10 on my wife's blaze, it was some weird recovery I've never seen on any other device), but I'll be giving it a try.
Just about anything you can do in CWM can be done in TWRP. There are no "CWM ROMs", there are ROMs that are flashed using a custom recovery (such as CWM or TWRP).
---edit---
After re-reading, I think I might appear to come off as a ****, and if I do, I'm sorry. Not trying to, just helping to educate you
Android modding can be a lot to take in and it's better to squash bad or mistrue views early than to try to re-learn later. I know that part from experience.
Never hesitate to ask anything

The partitions interest me. Some ROMs it is emmc for internal and sdcard for external.
Others have internal SD listed as sdcard and external listed as external_SD.
anyways, I think twrp team implemented mtp mode as well as mass storage and you may have to install new drivers or try a different ROM.

i know CM10 has sdcard as internal and external_sd as the external. TWRP has emmc as internal and external_sd as the external, so they share the same external_sd mount points. however, neither internal nor external shows up on my PC when I mount USB storage. I normally use MTP mode in CM10, but mass storage works as well.
Inside TWRP, when mounting, nothing changes in Device Manager in windows. DM recognizes a device was plugged in, but there is nothing listed as a media or storage device
