Make sure to use KatKiss gapps and that you follow the flashing procedure posted in the thread, especially the format system before flashing the rom.
And if you were coming from another rom, you need to do a full wipe before.
Format /system
flash the rom
flash the gapps from the katkiss thread.
wipe dalvik-cache and cache
reboot
Also make sure you start the camera through the default shortcut
(ie if you had one set in your launcher, delete then readd the cam shortcut)

Phone rebooting

I recently upgraded my phone from HTC Sense 3.0 to 3.5.
I did so using the following:
Code:
Energy_2.6.2012.Sensation.Sense.3.5
Now, everything is working fine except for one tiny little thing.
It reboots randomly.
Any ideas?
what the development thread for that particular ROM says? Does other users experience the same?
did you follow all instructions for flashing the ROM?

I didn't factory reset it before installing it. Do you reckon I should factory reset and reinstall?
this is what the dev recommends for his ROM, not me (of course, if the ROM you are using is the same I referred to)
a) it would help if the ROM is not buggy itself
b) if to ask me? I wipe all partitions except SD card, and it works for me (factory reset is precaution)
p.s.also be sure to have the same firmware the dev is recommending.

I'm using the older ROM.
Code:
Gingerbread 2.3.5 ROM with Sense 3.5 !
How would I know if it's the ROM that is causing it?
Partitions? I don't think there are any.
where did you get that ROM in the first place?
I tried to search for the original thread, but couldn't locate it
about partitions - what kind of recovery tool are you using - ClockWordMod?
there are several partitions you can format manually - system, dalvik, cache

There's the download link for it. It's in the same thread.
I'm using clockworkmod, yes.
So, from the same thread -
General rule of thumb before flashing:
- Unless specified, you don't need to Superwipe.
- However, before flashing, boot to recovery - wipe cache. Advanced - wipe dalvik. Now flash the new NRGZ Rom.
- Problems? Goto Settings - applications - HTC Sense - Wipe Data
- Still problems? Superwipe, as explained in FAQ 10.

FAQ 10
Q10: I was on stock (or another rom from another cook) and I flashed NRGZ ROM, now I am having some problems.
A:
1. Try rebooting the Phone and see if it makes a difference.
2. Reboot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik, reboot the phone and clear data of the apps causing problem.
3. If nothing else works, “SUPERWIPE”. Beware: A superwipe/ full wipe will erase EVERYTHING on the phone. EVERYTHING! So, be sure to backup what you want.

SuperWipe is flashable zip from CWM.

if you cared about your sms, call logs, contacts, apps and settings make a backup. if not - then just wipe and install the ROM

The re-installation is complete. Now we play the waiting game and see if it's shutting down.
Well it's been about an hour now and it has not shut down yet.
Seems like it worked!
Okay, now this is just ****ing weird. It didn't restart itself in like forever. And then when I went to bed it instantly restarted itself.
Now, I've restored the phone 3 or 4 times(I've had several restore points). But it's still restarting randomly.
I'm just really confused right now.
At this moment my phone is not currently on any new ROM.
I have now reinstalled my phone with ics. It's been running now for 12 hours without restarting. So I'm guessing It's fixed.
Just make sure you wipe everything before flashing

Do you want to remove optional apps that you checked in the CROMI setup, or do you want to remove system apps that are installed as part of the base system?
In the first case, just reinstall CROMI and do not check the apps you don't want. In the second case, you need a root-enabled filemanager, mount the system partition writable, and delete the apk files yourself.
Factory reset will only remove user apps and data, it does not touch the system.
I wanted to remove the launchers I installed with CROMI setup. I will just set up CROMI again since I have to update to 3.2 anyway. Thanks for the info!
Just rerun the installer and rechoose what you want. An install of CROMI always formats the system partition (where most firmware apks go).

[Q] From CM10 20130330 to CM10 20130416 ??

Hi and thanks for all the help and pre-thanks for any help on this. I am just a TAD paranoid from a previous flash.
I have been running CM10.1 20130330 and gapps 20130301 for 2 plus weeks now. It was pretty stable until I restored Talkback from my Titanium backup from the GB backup and then said, I am not blind and tried to remove it with TBU and it wouldn't install. Everything works ok with some warnings that::gmail, gaaps, email, TBU, etc have guit working, I press on and things work.
I want to flash the CM.1 20130416 and gapps 20121212.
Following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776129 Scott's directions for coming from JB 4.1 I would need to do a Factory reset?
CWM: Wipe Cache / Factory Reset Note: You should be fine without this step, but it is HIGHLY recommended as it makes certain all bugs are wiped clean. (Should be fine???)
Install ROM: Scroll down for downloads
Install OC kernel [Optional]: Scroll down for downloads (not using)
Install Gapps: Here (the latest for JB 4.2.1 - 12/12/12) - Working swipe! ---- Here (the latest for JB 4.1.2) - New GAPPs 10/11/2012
CWM: Wipe Cache Partition
CWM: Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache
Reboot
TWO questions:
1. Factry reset removes all my programs doesn't it (?) and I would need to re-install again, right? or restore from Titanium BU? or CWM Blue Restore?
2. I am reading about the nightlies and do you guys wipe everything every time or what?
I am getting the hang of it and enjoying basically a new phone and really don't want to go back to stock with this if I can avoid it.
Thanks for an awesome Forum

Since you are already having some fc issues from restoring I would recommend
1) Factory reset
2) Go to Mounts and storage
3) Format system
4) Format data
5) Format cache
6) Flash ROM, flash G-apps(either for 4.2.2 is fine)
7) Wipe dalvic
8) Reboot
Once you have done this either let playstore re-install apps, or install manually. Do NOT restore data

[Q] Upgrading to JB

I want to upgrade to JB custom ROM on TF101. I have seen a quite few. But I want to know which one is the best. Also please let me know do we need to download all the apps after upgrading the ROM. Is there a way to keep the apps intact after upgrading or reinstalling by taking back up. Downloading again will take a lot of data and a lot of time. Please help.
You can back up your apps with titanium backup onto an SD card or other external storage, but you must wipe the tablet when upgrading to JB, I recommend team eos nightlies with KAT kernel, they work very nicely.
You can also get the apk files from /system/app I think or /data/app and reinstall after putting those back on the tablet after wiping.
Shall you please let me know what is the purpose of KAT kernel

I'm running Revolver 4.2.1. What are the advantages going to JB from ICS? I'm going on a long trip soon, so I'm mainly looking for stability, battery performance and keyboard/dock compatibility.
Also, I'm reading that we need to install TWRP to run JB ROMs? Or can I still use CWM?
Thanks in advance!

Lots of speed improvements over the stock kernel, fixes for different things like audio and gps
Grab the Kat-App too, that also boosts Audio and GPS

Yes move to TWRP as soon as possible or risk bricking your TF as many have done trying to flash new ROMs with CWM
If you install Goo Manager you can easily install TWRP from the top right settings menu "Install OpenRecoveryScript"
Highly recommend TeamEOS4 and KatKernel in terms of everything you are looking for for your trip
Advantages over ICS are performance and stability and a new UI (Which is swappable with the ICS tablet version from settings in TeamEOS)
OK. I looked at some tutorials to get a sense of TWRP and Goo Manager. I know you can view and download ROMs from GM. So after downloading the ROM, boot into TWRP to install it? How about flashing kernels and the Kat app you referred to? Is that downloaded and installed in the same procedure?

Yep exactly the same as a ROM, I do it this way
For a ROM
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache and System
Install ROM
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
---
For a Kernel
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Install Kernel
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
---
For Gapps
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Install Gapps
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
----
Basically Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache between each flash and when your done, then reboot
For Kat App, its just an app, so wait until you're done with the above, boot into the ROM, get everything set up how you like it, then install the Kat App, its just an APK so you just use a file manager (ES File Explorer is my choice) and click it once to install it
Once in there, goto the Install section and install the GPS and Audio etc, the rest is pretty self explanatory, sections for Audio etc
EDIT - You don't have to use Goo Manager to download the ROMs or others either, sometimes its faster to use the PC and copy them over to the TF then reboot to recovery to flash them, you can use internal or external sdcards in TWRP, I have the links in my sig
EOS 4
I'll second the Team EOS 4 Recommendation
+1 for EOS4

[Q] [Team Canjica] OmniROM 4.3 missing Play Store and Google account

I have updated stock Android 4.1.2 on Samsung Galaxy S Advance to Team Canjica OmniROM 4.3 (omni-4.3.1-20131218-janice-HOMEMADE.zip). Everything finished successfully. But when I restarted my device I can not see a Play Store app and in system settings in accounts there is no account type of Google. So I can not sign in and use my device. I also tried to install (omni-4.3.1-20131208-janice-HOMEMADE.zip) but it ends the same.
Please help me. Or maybe I am missing something and I should add my Google account somewhere else. I also tried to add it as exchanged account, but it can not connect to server.
Warning: No file_contexts
I am also getting following message during flash:
Warning: No file_contexts
but flash progress bar is still moving and when it has finished I can reboot to system but Play store app is missing
Second atempt
I tried one more time. I have restored stock Android 4.1.2 by download mode, then rooted and then installed again update with custom ROM, but still get the same warning and Play store and Google account is missing

Yes I have followed the instruction.
I have done a factory reset / wipe data, cache and dalvik cach.
Then installed OmniROM and Gapps.
After rebooting system I am missing Play store and Google account.
I have also rebooted to recovery mode and made once again a factory reset / wipe data, cache and dalvik cache, but it also did not help.
No I realized that even I have installed in recovery mode: Gapps it was also missing after rebooting to system.

Sounds like you forgot to download and flash the appropriate GApps package for your new ROM. Carefully re read the OP of that ROM thread and find the link for downloading GApps. GApps are the Google App packages for AOSP based ROMS. Those packages usually include the Playstore and other Google Apps.

Previously when I tried to install Gapps there was displayed success message,
but after installing ROM there was only message: Warning: No file_contexts
but as far as I found on forum I should ignore this message.
But it was strange that there was no success message after installing ROM even if install progress was still moving when this warning was displayed.

That is the correct Gapps package for most 4.3 Roms. As I am not familiar with your ROM, I would double check the OP to make sure that is the package you should be using.

I use the same ROM with the same Gapps file. It works fine for me.
I have had the same problem when I had forgotten to wipe the dalvik cache after installing a new ROM, but if you have already done that (and again), I don't know what else to suggest (apart from retrying everything from scratch).
