[Q] [Team Canjica] OmniROM 4.3 missing Play Store and Google account - General Questions and Answers

I have updated stock Android 4.1.2 on Samsung Galaxy S Advance to Team Canjica OmniROM 4.3 (omni-4.3.1-20131218-janice-HOMEMADE.zip). Everything finished successfully. But when I restarted my device I can not see a Play Store app and in system settings in accounts there is no account type of Google. So I can not sign in and use my device. I also tried to install (omni-4.3.1-20131208-janice-HOMEMADE.zip) but it ends the same.
Please help me. Or maybe I am missing something and I should add my Google account somewhere else. I also tried to add it as exchanged account, but it can not connect to server.

Warning: No file_contexts
I am also getting following message during flash:
Warning: No file_contexts
but flash progress bar is still moving and when it has finished I can reboot to system but Play store app is missing

Second atempt
I tried one more time. I have restored stock Android 4.1.2 by download mode, then rooted and then installed again update with custom ROM, but still get the same warning and Play store and Google account is missing

Did you install Gapps (for Android 4,3)? And did you do a factory reset / wipe data, cache and dalvik cache?

Yes I have followed the instruction.
I have done a factory reset / wipe data, cache and dalvik cach.
Then installed OmniROM and Gapps.
After rebooting system I am missing Play store and Google account.
I have also rebooted to recovery mode and made once again a factory reset / wipe data, cache and dalvik cache, but it also did not help.
No I realized that even I have installed in recovery mode: Gapps it was also missing after rebooting to system.

Sounds like you forgot to download and flash the appropriate GApps package for your new ROM. Carefully re read the OP of that ROM thread and find the link for downloading GApps. GApps are the Google App packages for AOSP based ROMS. Those packages usually include the Playstore and other Google Apps.

Sounds like your Gapps package isn't fully installing. I would try installing the ROM, boot into the ROM and let it settle. Then reboot to recovery and install Gapps.

I will try to install Gapps after first reboot.
Can you confirm that this is correct Gapps file I should install?
goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip
Previously when I tried to install Gapps there was displayed success message,
but after installing ROM there was only message: Warning: No file_contexts
but as far as I found on forum I should ignore this message.
But it was strange that there was no success message after installing ROM even if install progress was still moving when this warning was displayed.

That is the correct Gapps package for most 4.3 Roms. As I am not familiar with your ROM, I would double check the OP to make sure that is the package you should be using.

I use the same ROM with the same Gapps file. It works fine for me.
I have had the same problem when I had forgotten to wipe the dalvik cache after installing a new ROM, but if you have already done that (and again), I don't know what else to suggest (apart from retrying everything from scratch).

[Q] From CM10 20130330 to CM10 20130416 ??

Hi and thanks for all the help and pre-thanks for any help on this. I am just a TAD paranoid from a previous flash.
I have been running CM10.1 20130330 and gapps 20130301 for 2 plus weeks now. It was pretty stable until I restored Talkback from my Titanium backup from the GB backup and then said, I am not blind and tried to remove it with TBU and it wouldn't install. Everything works ok with some warnings that::gmail, gaaps, email, TBU, etc have guit working, I press on and things work.
I want to flash the CM.1 20130416 and gapps 20121212.
Following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776129 Scott's directions for coming from JB 4.1 I would need to do a Factory reset?
CWM: Wipe Cache / Factory Reset Note: You should be fine without this step, but it is HIGHLY recommended as it makes certain all bugs are wiped clean. (Should be fine???)
Install ROM: Scroll down for downloads
Install OC kernel [Optional]: Scroll down for downloads (not using)
Install Gapps: Here (the latest for JB 4.2.1 - 12/12/12) - Working swipe! ---- Here (the latest for JB 4.1.2) - New GAPPs 10/11/2012
CWM: Wipe Cache Partition
CWM: Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache
Reboot
TWO questions:
1. Factry reset removes all my programs doesn't it (?) and I would need to re-install again, right? or restore from Titanium BU? or CWM Blue Restore?
2. I am reading about the nightlies and do you guys wipe everything every time or what?
I am getting the hang of it and enjoying basically a new phone and really don't want to go back to stock with this if I can avoid it.
Thanks for an awesome Forum

Since you are already having some fc issues from restoring I would recommend
1) Factory reset
2) Go to Mounts and storage
3) Format system
4) Format data
5) Format cache
6) Flash ROM, flash G-apps(either for 4.2.2 is fine)
7) Wipe dalvic
8) Reboot
Once you have done this either let playstore re-install apps, or install manually. Do NOT restore data

[ROM][Stock][Rooted] D850 20f Stock ROM Debloated

Updated: 03/24/2015
Hi all,
I did this mostly for practice but I thought it might be helpful so I went ahead and posted.
Stock LG D850 20f ROM
[*]Rooted/SuperSu
[*]Most bloat removed
[*]Oversharpening fix
[*]Flashable zip
[*]init.d support*
[*]CarrierIQ Remover*
*Init.d support is implemented in ROM only, not the kernel. CarrierIQ is removed automatically after first boot via an init script. Say thanks to @skeevydude for his help in getting this done. I shouldn't say "help", he pretty much did it!
Installation
Flash the Lollipop modem - see @autoprime 's thread here for modem zip
Flash the ROM zip
Wipe cache and dalvik (and in some cases data) if coming from a different ROM
Download
v3* - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934548695
[QRCODE]https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934548695[/QRCODE]
*No change at all to the ROM itself since v2, I just realized that I've been forgetting to zero out the free space on the image file before uploading, which saves about 600 MB when zipped. New flashable zip is about 1.1 GB instead of 1.7 GB.
Older versions:
v1 - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934543883
Apps Removed
/system/app:
Google Books
Google Chrome
Google Cloud Print
Google Drive
Facebook
Hangouts
Google Newsstand
Google Play Games
Google Play Music
Google Play Movies and TV
Google Plus
Twitter
/system/priv-app:
ATT Address Book
ATT Caller Name ID
ATT DriveMode
ATT Games
ATT Locker
ATT Lookout
ATT Mobile Locate
ATT Remote Support
ATT Smart Wifi
ATT Mobile TV
ISIS Wallet
ATT Visual Voicemail
MLT (LG tracker)
/system/vendor/app:
Amazon Kindle
ATT Family Map
ATT Home
ATT Keeper
ATT MHS Launcher
ATT Navigator
Uber
DeviceHelp
myATT
YP Mobile
ATT Apps
In case you want some of the ATT apps back, I have uploaded a zip here with those apps. This is NOT a flashable zip. You have a couple of options:
1. You may be able to install these as a normal (user) app by just pulling out the apk and installing the usual way.
2. If that doesn't work as expected, copy the app folder from the zip into the appropriate system folder as listed in the "Apps Removed" section.
Download: ATT Apps
Xposed Info
cmulk said:
Xposed has a couple of bad side effects at this point, so before doing anything you need to use Titanium or something similar to Freeze (this basically what the "helper" does):
LGSmartCover
Weather
Weather Theme
WeatherPlatform
Then you can install xposed as in the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
However, there is still one more bug to keep in mind: Xposed will crash the Tethering and Networks menu. There is no fix for that yet, but as a workaround you can download some apps from the play store (like Mobile Network Settings), to shortcut around the menu that force closes.

@autoprime - Flashable zips, bump'd boot.img, and very clear instructions in his thread here
@timmytim - uploading the lollipop stock images (although I know a lot of others were working on that too)
@Skin1980 - Oversharpening fix
@skeevydude - init.d support and carrierIQ remover
CarrierIQ Removal
CarrierIQ has now been removed!
The removal is done via an init script that runs at boot to disable the IQ service before removing the files in order to prevent a force close. However, if you have to wipe data/factory reset without re-flashing the ROM, you will get a force close on the first boot. The good news is that I've tested this scenario and it should fix itself if you just wait about 20 seconds. In other words, the mentioned script does it's thing to stop the service to fix the force close and you are good to go after that.
Old info below:
cmulk said:
On the 20f lollipop rom (either mine or stock, there's no difference) either freezing LADDM or removing the libraries and LADDM as you mention will cause a force close unless you disable the "IQService" first, which is built into the framework-res.apk. I have repeated it multiple times and it has been discussed quite a bit in the Lounge and other threads. Disabling the service is easy for users to do with the "DisableService" app, and then you can remove LADDM and the libraries as mentioned. The difficulty is that disabling a service is a user setting, so, for example, if I reflash my ROM without the IQ files onto a phone with clean /data, I will again get the force close and an unusable ROM.

Manual Steps
In the meantime, here is how users can manually disable CarrierIQ. I take no credit for this method, it is posted in several places by several people, I'm just putting it here for convenience:
YOU MUST DO THIS IN ORDER (or at least the first few steps)
1. Download the "DisableService" app from the play store
2. In the DisableService app, go to System -> Android System and disable the "IQService" service
3. Use a root explorer to delete the folder /system/app/LADDM
4. Use a root explorer to delete /system/lib/libiq_client.so and /system/lib/libiq_service.so
5. (Optional) Uninstall DisableService
Remember, disabling the service is a user setting, so if you need to wipe /data for some reason, you will need to re-flash the ROM (which has the CarrierIQ files included) or else you will get a constant force close when your phone boots.
I'll give it a try, thanks
Flashing now. Will report.
I will be watching this ROM. Thanks for posting.
Exactly what does " if coming from a different ROM" mean? I'm on 4.4.2 10f Wulf (stock - rooted) ROM

Thanks for your work. I wish I had some skill in this realm. It'd be nice to pick and choose which apps you wanted removed. I prefer the stock ATT Visual Voicemail app over the one in the Play Store as its more reliable. I also use some of the Google Apps that are removed here as well. But great job in getting something debloated out there.

Flashing lollipop Issues
Thanks for your work.... When flashing the 2 lollipop roms, 9 out of 10 times I get just a screen with icons, no wallpaper, no notification pull down no buttons at the bottom. I flash the modem the rom then SU and clear cache. I have only got the other ROM to flash successfully once. The same is going on with this ROM, is this happening to anyone else. I flashed it 5 times with the same results, would anyone know why this is happening, seems others dont have this issue. Thank you again for bringing us a debloated Lollipop rom.

Here is what I understand for a clean flash:
"1. Boot into Recovery
2. Make a Nandroid backup
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. Wipe cache partition
5. Wipe Dalvik Cache
6. Flash ROM
7. DO NOT REBOOT – STAY IN RECOVERY
8. Select backup and restore
9. Select advanced restore
10. Select the Nandroid backup you made above
11. Select Restore data
12. Select Yes – Restore data
13. WAIT!
14. REBOOT"
What I do not understand is step 8, which selects the backup made in step two... and then flashing the backup over the (new) ROM flash in step 6. Wouldn't that overwrite the new ROM you just flashed?

I have not seen that issue, but in case you are not clearing data you may need to try clearing dalvik cache.
Also, (and this is just a shot in the dark) you could try formatting system before doing anything else just in case something strange is left behind there.

You can try dirty flashing first without losing any of your data.
1. Back up your current Boot and System
2. Back up your current modem (if you're coming from the Kitkat modem), or just download a flashable KK modem already posted on XDA
3. Flash the modem and ROM in this post
4. Wipe cache and dalvik
5. See if it works
If it's not working, then you will need to restore your boot, system, and modem to go back to your original kitkat setup without losing data.
Otherwise, you'll have to backup with Titanium and do a clean flash (wipe data) as already mentioned. Using Titanium makes clean flashing not so bad
I do clear Wipe cache and dalvik I wipe everything and it boots back into a desktop and thats it no notification, the same thing happened with the first lollipop.. but after 10 flashes it finally took... so I thought Id try your de-bloated and the same thing is happening again, not sure why this is. I can jump back to kk after flashing the modem without issues. Thank you again for your work.

I agree that I use most or all of these Google apps as well. However, they update so often anyway that I prefer to just have them as user apps (otherwise you end up with 2 copies - the old static version in the system apps folder, and the updated version in the user apps folder).
As for the visual voicemail, I have posted the ATT apps in a zip in the OP. Visual voicemail is in the VVM_ATT folder.
Thanks!

Sure thing! That's actually what I meant to do in post 13. I am not sure if you can flash over 10f without wiping data, but you could give it a try without losing anything (except time) if you look at post 13.
You should clear cache and dalvik mostly any time you are flashing, unless you are just flashing over another stock 20f ROM.

Thanks I do clear everything but my external mem.
Ever since flashing this I'm getting "no sd card" messages every time I try to download anything ( I don't have an external sd card) but it's never been a problem before. I've restored a backup of my stock Tim and the problem followed me after full wipes.

[solved] [CM12.1] CM w/o Google - why are Google services embedded to ROM?

Hi!
I have installed latest CM12.1 Nightly for Z3.
I did not install and GApps, but surprisingly after first start I can see that several Google services are "embedded" to this image including Google PlayStore.
I want to have Android w/o Google, and I have installed CM on several other devices w/o Google services.
Question:
Why are Google Services included in CM12.1 for Z3?

have you installed cm12 over another rom with google services installed? there are some scripts that continue using gapps from old rom, if you dont want this, just wipe /system and reflash cm12.1, and all google services are gone

well the data wipe does delete the whole data and cache, but a data wipe wont delete the rom. to delete the old rom you have to wipe the /system partiton, which you can find in TWRP under advanced wipe (in the normal wipe menu). then the old rom (or your cm12.1 with goggle apps) is completely gone and you can reinstall cm12.1. Then it should be without any google services. sorry for my bad english skills and explaining. good luck

TWRP can't install micro Gapps "not enough space in system partition"

I just flashed Lineage OS on my OPO. Y was previously running stock, rooted CyanogenOS.
After flashing, I accidentally booted the system (before flashing Gapps). I rebooted into recovery, and once there I tried flashing Gapps. However, I got a message (not an error in red font) saying I haven't enough space in my system partition.
Any idea on how to fix this? I already tried wiping dav/cache/system and flashing LOS again, no dice. Also I deleted several Gbs from the file manager.
E: The error was #70, and I was using Nano Gapps.
Try nano or pico gapps.

Use a lower size gapps or aroma gapps so that you can choose required apps to install.
Also, flash rom+gapps together because of changes from MM you can't reboot to system and then flash gapps, that will give you fc's..
However if you anytime forget to flash Gapps(always case with me ),and say you setup everything and you don't want to do it all over again, you can just take a nandroid backup of your current rom and then restore it again and then flash gapps and reboot.
Hope this helps.

However if you anytime forget to flash Gapps(always case with me ),and say you setup everything and you don't want to do it all over again, you can just take a nandroid backup of your current rom and then restore it again and then flash gapps and reboot.
Hope this helps.

Thanks! I'll try with the pico one, although I'm concerned I might be missing something? Can I flash the aroma package using TWRP?

Yes you can, just make sure you don't select too much apps as you'll again see errors.
Lately ROM's zips are getting bigger, the system partition is not. Fotunatly OpenGapps zipps are modular through a .txt config file easily editable. Have a look here.
You can place the gapps-config file in /sdcard/Open-GApps/gapps-config.txt

Feedback Installing LineageOS 14 on P3100

Hi There,
My happiness was short-lived while Flashing an Old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100.
The Progress I made so far was:
1. ODIN Flashing
2. Able to Install TWRP Recoveries
3. Copied LineageOS and GApps all said Successfully installed
4. Finally rebooted after doing some cache cleaning, but the LineageOS logo appears in the boot and remained booting for about 2 hours. I lost my patience afterward and I switched off the Tab.
5. Tried restarting but the same LineageOS screen goes on and on doesn't bring the setup screen.
I am so curious to know
1. is there People in here who successfully installed LineageOS 14 and booted successfully?
2. How long did the initial boot take?

If I am to redo the process again, please correct if I should do the following
1. I have successfully installed TWRP hence I reckon I don't need to do it again
2. I will download the latest LineageOS and GApps and copy it to Internal Storage
3. Install both using TWRP
4. Clear cache
5. Reboot.
I hope I am doing correctly?

Copy files to external sd card. Then reboot to Twrp, select wipe. Select system, data, dalvik cache, internal storage and then install rom.
EDIT : Take a backup of internal storage if you want like photos, videos, etc.

Normally that's the procedure right ??? Even I never wiped internal storage but I did if the rom would give problems. And since there are problems for him (which I never faced installing any lineage rom) maybe wiping everything might work.

Hi, I'm too trying to get a bit more life out of my ageing Tab 2 I've been following the instructions on the LineageOS website but I don't seem to be able to find the link to the actual ROM. I download a twrp file but that was only a few MB and obviously the ROM is much bigger.
I'd be grateful if somebody could point me at the link to where the ROM actually is.
Many Thanks
Steve

Thanks I'll give that a go.
OK I've obviously over estimated my technical abilities. Does anybody have a idiots guide to flashing a Tab 2?
I'm trying to flash the device with Heimdall and the twrp img file and putting in the commands and I'm getting the device '\\.\usb longidnumber' is no longer connected!
It worked once but I let the device reboot normally so it didn't go into TWRP mode and now I can't seem to reflash it if I boot it into recovery mode I get the normal Android options.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Steve

Although it's not the exact one you are looking but this tutorial will give some insight. Check here:
I got it done here
Yay it's working and running Android 7.1.
I am having a problem getting the Google Play store working, I've downloaded the APKs for the Play Store and Google Play Services from APK Mirror. But when I launch the Play Store app it crashes when I hit the button to sign in.
Suggestions please.
Thanks

Installing apka is not going to install gapps. You need to install a gapps zip while installing the rom. That means, now you'll have to download gapps zip i am giving you and then again wipe system, data, dalvic cache and then install rom and then gapps zip.
Install these gapps by @Deltadroid : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528062385

Lol good luck with gapps and lag lool..
Do your homework before you do something! Android 7 + gapps = mega lag = unusable.
Read some more ... and stop listening people without proper knowledge.
Tip: don't use gapps at all, specially on prehistoric devices.

Yeah it was quite slow when it started up, but I disabled stuff I don't need and blocked some more from running in the background and while it's never going to be super whizzy it will be usable.
Thanks to everyone for their help, onto my old Note 10.1 now

Try android 6 roms and android 4.4.4 roms.
Resurrection remix : https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAAegQICBAC&usg=AOvVaw1PxtYepshuVJGhwILyAok1
This is the best as per my experience. Its android 6 and also fast. It is fastest without gapps but if you are going to install some apps, not all of them might function correctly without gapps.
Lineage os 13 : https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjABegQIAxAC&usg=AOvVaw0ngVERkcUHwdW6OdL7FTx8
This is another great one and works well. Again, with gapps it's slow (and mostly all roms are)
Slimrom 4.4 : https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAAegQIAxAC&usg=AOvVaw1pIY6ZrmjDiXzCAxuW-p9R
To be honest, this rom would have been the first in my list but it isn't because it's kitkat (4.4.4) and that means less apps support. It is fast and stable.
Last suggestion : don't go for android 7 roms. Without gapps they are as slow as android 6 roms with gapps.
