For those who have tried it, what are your thoughts? Does it have good protection? How much does it impact your device's performance? Is it trustworthy?

I tried it and it worked well. But I'm personally not sure how well does it protect my system but it has to be good as it was ranked as no. 1 antivirus by AV-Test. It did not have any effects on my mobile's performance (it was good as usual).
I recommend installing least 2 antivirus programs on mobile. I use Avast!, 360 Security and CM Security.

Thanks but I heard you should only have 1 antivirus because they conflict with each other.

I know but I only run 1 at a time. I never had any problem relating to that.

Well I haven't analyzed outgoing packets to see what is leaking out or anything, but the privacy guard protections in CM11 at least partially work and maybe even work fully as expected. If you deny an app access to your contacts and then use a feature like sharing some data from within the app, you won't have any contacts to choose. If you deny an app using gps and try to use a function within the app that needs gps, the app will complain that gps is disabled and needs to be turned on. Just be careful not to deny anything in necessary core system processes. It seems like that is something you can do and it probably won't work out well.
What is missing, and is really a core problem with Android privacy, is a way to deny each app outgoing internet connections altogether.

I use android tuner pro to deny internet access to particular apps. It should be built in on every system but this works well as s far as I'm concerned. I think even the free version let's you control the permissions like that.

[Q] Annoying Balance Updates - Getting rid of them???

On my network every time a data session comes to an end (3G/Edge) or a call is ended etc the service provider pushes a message with information on balance details and validity etc.
As far as I was using the JB leak(4.1.x) there was a nifty little app that addressed this specific problem however on having shifted to 4.2.2 and above (Currently I'm on PA RC2) the app doesn't work as mentioned in the Description of the app owing to the removal some of the APIs in 4.2.2 and above.
I was wondering if there is a workaround for this and anything can be done to get rid of those annoying pop-up messages.

Confirmed working debloat tool

Looks like it's just disabling versus removing so it's still taking up space. Unless I'm reading how it works wrong?

It let's you disable apps that you can't through the application manager, so yes it's very useful. And that's not even considering the benefits of having a UI tool with backup/restore app list and batch operations.

I finally got a chance to try this but I just saw it needs root. That kinda ruins it for us verizon users since we cant get root. If I could root I'd just use titanium backup to freeze them or remove them though this is a nice way to do a bunch all at once.

Tablet having a plethora of issues

I'm beyond confused on what to do right now. The tablet is having problems left and right and Im just so confused, and no answers from Google are helping me.
Basically, I have three problems. First, the tablet cannot boot past the Nvidia logo. Second, the battery charges EXTREMELY SLOWLY. It took ten hours to get to 35%, and I fell asleep waiting for it to get one percent. And third, it discharges rapidly while on with the charger.
To note what I did, I installed TWRP, did numerous factory resets, and installed LineageOS. However, it just won't boot. Sp I am now here. Please help, I have no more options.

It's best to not update the OS ever. As long as it works. Also, Google auto update should be deactivated. In general, updates are bad. They take storage and eat performance in 80% of the case.

Regardless, this means nothig for the battery. I've also never seen updates ruin a device. For example, updates actually saved my phone out of brick. If not for Cyanogen, this phone would've stayed bricked.
OEM updates usual ruin the performance. That's my experience.
I've tried numerous 7.1.2 custom Nougat roms and have recently gone back to stock 5.2 and have to say that the device works a lot better.

After the 5.2 update, my K1 is running a bit smoother/faster than before. Particularly screen rotation, opening keyboard, opening apps & going back to home screen.
Battery life is as it was before the update.
One of the previous updates (5.1?) similarly improved performance a bit.

Experiences will vary. But that goes with just about any software change, be it an OEM update, custom ROM, kernel, etc. For every person that says the performance, battery, etc. is better; there will be another that says it's worse.
There are lots of variables in how you use the device, what apps, etc.

Yes, the comments by this user are over-generalized, hyperbolic, and nonsensical. They add little value to this forum. Just sounds like a guy that had a bad experience once or twice, and now has an axe to grind with every update on every device. Ever.

Ads are killing me - How to get rid of?

So I recently upgraded my Android device and unfortunately it's not currently rootable like my old one was and I got used to a certain ad free lifestyle and now I have ads in every single app all over the place popping up left, right and center and its annoying the heck out of me, I can't live this way!
Does anyone have any methods or ideas for getting rid of these in-app ads without being rooted? My device is the ZTE Grand X4 (Z957). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

That's a great model for a free placeholder device! Lol, are you on Verizon or any US carrier?

Sleeping Apps

Do you guys sleep apps in the device optimizer? I just found it the other day, seems like a good thing, probably the best we can get till we can get root
I have all of my apps that I don't need notifications from set to Always Sleep. Seems to help the battery some.
If you are looking to disable apps or block them I recommend BK Disabler. No root needed.
Also root is available, just be careful because it has ALOT of set backs. In my opinion not worth it right now.

That app is awesome! Pretty much the only thing I wanted root for! Or at least the main thing! Thanks! I froze/disabled a few main ones that keep waking up in the background....

Also just as an FYI AT&T hid the carrier IQ software in a new shady spot. Screen shots below to show where to turn it off.

You're looking at the wrong application. Use the search to find "Carrier IQ" and you'll find the right application and then the right service to turn off.

Yep been disabled since day 1.
With all the aggregated data collected from pretty much every app within android and google really, what does disabling Carrier IQ do?

It aggregates all of you data, ties it to you phone number and your AT&T account. It's quite a bit more invasive than Google's anonymously collected data.
Also it crush battery and uses about 20 - 200 MB of data a month.
Super shady.

Holy Crap! So glad you pointed this out. Thanks!!!
Composed on Galaxy Note8
Doesn't disabling the package disable the service...? Package disabler pro doesn't have the option to disable the service.
Bk disabler seems pretty awesome... Not sure how good package disabler is...?

Yeah I switch to BK because sometimes u you only want to disable specific services not the entire package.
On the S8 the Carrier IQ was hidden in the system package.
I dont appear to have "Device Health" anywhere.
