Haven't used my tab for some time and now I cannot start it.
When starting tab stucks on samsung logo.
When charging tab shows battery with "wait" sign without progress animation.
Holding power makes no effect.
Cannot enter recovery but can enter download (odin) mode. Flashing other roms makes no effect.
What sort of problem can it be? Dead battery? Hardware problems?
Probably a *severely* drained battery. Connect it to the charger (not the computer) and let it charge for 24 hours. Hopefully, it can be revived.
Might try flashing stock through Odin but only after letting it charge.

So my phone was working with no issues since I first bought it at launch. Today, after being on in the morning. It shuts down by itself, goes into boot animation but never gets back into the main screen. Tried to charge it for a few hours to see if the battery was the issue, but the "charging battery icon" does not even pop up when I plug in the charger.
I tried to get into the bootloader/recovery. At random times, I might be able to get in to the "start" screen, choose boot into recovery mode but it turns off as soon as I choose it.
So not sure if the battery is the issue?
Phone is rooted and using a custom ROM.
Thanks for any help before I go and replace the battery.
This is the first time this has happened. Basically the screen will just turn black randomly and the Google image pops up for a couple seconds before staying off. The first 3 times it happened I was able to turn it back on by just holding the power button. After that, however, it got stuck in a boot cycle until I plugged it into a charger and tried. So far with the charger plugged in it hasn't turned off yet.
I've attached a screenshot of my battery status. It seems the battery disappeared for a few hours?
Does your battery smell like sulphur?
Sounds like a stuck power button unfortunately. Quite common.
I'd say try flashing stock firmware again with fastboot.... But if it reboots while flashing, you'll be in more trouble.
Let it sit in bootloader mode awhile... See if it reboots or anything. If not, you could try flashing stock firmware. But hopefully it doesn't shutdown mid-install.... That wouldn't be good.
in noticed that whether you are about to boot to recovery or to system, if you plug in charger and if the phone start to show charging light, that means you are safe no boot loop. just be patient and wait for it to successfully boot.
if the charging light didn't turn on (in my case within 2 min or so) meaning you getting bootloop
My Verizon S6 64GB is about 2yrs old. And it tries to do a system update (Not software update) as soon as it's turned on. It freezes a few second upon starting. I either have to let the battery drain out or disconnect the battery from the logic board every time.
I tried getting into recovery to wipe cache but it freezes on that screen as well. Button are unresponsive. Again have to disconnect the battery from inside.
While the phone is completely off it turns on to the Samsung logo screen when I plug in the charger and freezes there too. Weird--it does the same when I connect it to the charger and the battery isn't even connected. Doesn't seem to be charging properly either. It holds a little bit of a charge after being plugged in for hours. Dies in like 5 min.
Now it boots up to the recovery mode with the blue screen, yellow exclamation over slanted droid and the words....No Command. It freezes there.
Does anyone know what could be wrong and whether or not I can retrieve my pictures from it? Thanks.
There's a lot of aspects to this problem at this point, I'll try to be detailed.
I was recently given a bricked Verizon S7 (SM-G930V) to work on (full stock rom). The battery is completely dead, and when plugging it in to a high power charger it shows the recovery booting screen for 1-2 seconds, then black screen, then recovery booting again. So the recovery seems to be broken, and its putting it into a bootloop. From what I've been able to find over the last few days I believe it was caused by either a bad ota update, or it loosing power in the process of updating.
Im able to get it into download mode, but the recovery seems to be completely broken. I've left it on a charger overnight four times (combos of plugged in, on a pad, in download mode, and looping) and it hasn't charged at all.
When its on a high power charger I'm able to get it into download mode, but it dies as soon as i try to swap it to my pc. I have a high power official samsung wireless charging pad, but when its only on the pad its completely unresponsive. If I plug it into the charger and have it on the pad at the same time, im able to get it into download mode and switch it and get it to show up in odin.
I've tried flashing the latest verizon branded firmware, as well as the unlocked firmware (with various combinations of odin versions and settings) and I either end up with an error on the phone (odin/firmware too old) or it just completely fails and the phone turns off. Even when deselecting auto reboot in odin, after a failed attempt (complete(write) operation failed at various points) it reboots.
Only thing I can think of is that the charge pad + usb combo isnt providing enough power with a completely dead battery, but I don't have a working S7 to swap the battery into to charge it, and when its looping or in download mode its not charging at all.
Any ideas?
