[Q] HTC One X Screen Replacement - General Questions and Answers

So, I managed to completely smash the screen of my HTC One X (S720E) a while back, and I've been wondering which flex version I need of the screen. There's green, yellow & one that is both green and yellow. I don't want to prize the device apart so is there anyway of finding which flex cable my device uses, and does it even really matter? Sorry if this has already been asked, I've been Googling this for ages but all I get is links to buy screens. I've already purchased a screen, then found out that there are different types pretty much straight after.. Why does HTC have to make this so confusing?
Thanks in advance for the help.

xda 11 screens

i have 2 spare xda 11 one is blocked and the other the screen is bugged up.
i want to change the screens so at least i have one phone working how do i fix or undo screen parts thanku someone please help dont want to buy another screen when i have 2 the same
Yo dude, the best thing to do would be to take the screen from the phone thats blocked n(coz no matter what, you'll never be able to use that phone anyway!!) and fix it into the one with the broken screen. If you do a search here, there are guides to taking apart an XDA II, and as long as you haven't got 10 thumbs, it should be fairly easy to do!!!
I've done this myself so I know it works, but the only thing you need to be wary of is there are two models of screen, just hope that both phones have the same model installed otherwise It could get a little more complicated!!

Replacing the screen
I am in a similar situation, I have an XDA2 with a broken screen and another one with a damaged bottom connector. I pulled them both apart to put the good screen into the one with a good mother board but to me the screen connector (the one that plug into the mother board) they look different. Just wondering if anybody has come across this. Cheers, Guito

Identifying a HTC clone ... and fixing it.

I recently bought a HTC touch phone and i suspect it is a Chinese clone but i really dont know. They all look the same to me (the phones). After searching Xda it appears to be like the HTC Elf100 and dopod S1. Is there a definitive way to tell the exact model? The phone was purchased from a website called Deal Extreme.
I would like to know if it is possible to extract the ROM from the phone and save it onto my computer for back up.
More importantly (and the reason i am here) is that the screen is malfunctioning in that the colours are all very faded and there are black lines across the length of the screen wherever there is text or icons. There is a severe flicker when the backlight is set to anything other than full brightness. For the first three days the screen was crystal clear and the colours very vibrant. The only changes made were installing some third party softwares and applying a screen protector.
I have uploaded an image here:

I am trying to isolate the problem down to software or hardware. If it is hardware i will order another screen or digitizer and replace it and if it is software i will begin to look down that path, perhaps flashing the unit with more up to date ROM.
Tell us one thing, is the serial number in the following format? -> HTxxxGxxxxx, if Yes you have have original HTC Touch, if No, you have a nice Chinese clone.
If the back of the device underneath the battery looks like attached picture, you have the clone on your hands. you will have to ship it back to DX for replacement or repair.

Just from looking at the front of your phone, yes you have a clone
Yep CLone
OK Thanks for assistance. I have a clone here. DX offered to send me a replacement screen if i can locate one on their website. I would have thought they would know if they have one in stock but apparently not.
Can anyone think of a way to find what sort of a screen i would need to replace this one? I am told that the original HTC screen will not do, perhaps different pin outs.
Replacement screen
So i guess i am just sh#t out o luck then? The retailers can't find a replacement screen. Can the ridgy didge screen be modified to fit a clone?
Don't know. Since it's a clone they can have used whatever LCD, with whatever flex connector. But one thing for sure is that you wont be able to use original HTC Touch LCD.
Best option is to ship back to DX for replacement.

Screen digitizer repair help.

Last week I drop me sensation and shattered the screen so I order a new one, Today I swap out the new screen digitizer but it doesn't work.
I have a T-Mobile sensation but the screen I ordered just got the HTC logo on the top middle while my old one have the T-Mobile Logo. Is the T-mobile sensation have a diffrent screen ?
I would imagine it's just an unbranded screen, was it a third party screen?
Also did you make sure all the connectors and cabled were firmly connected and all jaw connecters when back in place to hold the cable there? Taking a phone apart is a delicate and careful procedure. You should make sure you document the steps as you go to make sure you don't forget anything. I think the screen is defective or you forgot a cable or one is loose someplace. Good luck1
Just an update if it says just HTC at the top its the UK version I believe. How'd everything turn out?

Hey, whatever happened with the screen you got. I bought a replacemnt screen for a T-Mobile Sensation as well. The screen has issues at the lock screen trying to get the ring into the middle. When you turn it off and back on, the screen is intermittently unresponsive. After a few tries, it starts working again. It's very annoying when trying to answer a call. Also, it's difficult to hang up from a call. Are you having the same issues?
I tried two different screens from the same seller. It's the Euro screen with just HTC in the middle, no T-Mobile logo. Trying to get some feedback on this because I'm trying to determine if the mother board is bad or if I have a bad batch of screens. I've been fixing HTC phones for friends for a while and I saw a chance to make some cash with the Sensation screens. Now I'm feeling that I may have gotten swindled with some bad screens.

AT&T One X factory screen

hi,im from dominican republic.
I bought an AT&T One x as-is, with a partial-green screen. this screen supoust to be the factory screen for this model as mentioned in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2164760
but my phone doesn´t show anything in the screen. all the other functions works : the phone turns on,vibrate, sound, charge, and when i plug it on the pc, the pc shows:: htc android device---ready to use. but i cant get into the storage(i think it is something about phone config, not an issue..) even made a touch digitizer test. and it works too.
the seller said me that the phone came from factory with the green flex screen(sharp version) but in the thead say that at&t screens are manufactured by sony(partial green screens)
i tested the partial grenn screen with other at&t one x and it worked perfect.but not in my phone. T.T
conclusion question:
Is it possible that some at&t one x´s has been manufactured with sharp screens or is just a hardware issue from my htc?????
sorry if bad english. if you don´t understand something i would try to make you understand xd..
Simple answer, not all at&t One X models have the same screen.

thanks.
well mi housing say model: pj83100
The model doesn't really matter, there are up to three different screens that came fitted to that model. To be honest I think you've been duped. I think the previous owner has possibly fitted the wrong screen to the phone. Unfortunately the only way to know which screen to install is to know which screen was originally installed, which you don't.

ok, thanks again man..
but for example if the htc was manufactured with green flex screen.... does it will work if i intall partial green or full yellow? are these screens compatible one each other?
No, you can only replace the screen with a screen with an identical flex cable.

and what about the usb connection. can it be a configuration on the phone that makes it only accept charge?
It can probably be done, I'm not sure how, or why.

[Q] Screen Replacement Options

I have the AT&T One XL, one of the first adopters. (Got it on release day :x)
Anyways, Finally got my screen to web from a cracks and need to do a replacement.
Looking at ETrade Supply there are sooo many options. Question is, do all the HTC One X versions have basically the same screens ?
http://www.etradesupply.com/htc/android-models/htc-one-x.html?p=1
http://www.etradesupply.com/htc/android-models/htc-one-xl.html
The just One X Page has about 4 Complete front assembly (this way I don't have to worry about taking apart the screen and digitzer)
But the One XL page just has one option. I was hoping to save a little money, and even throw in getting the battery as I'm pretty sure mine is worn down. But .. I wanted second opinions before I end up buying pieces that would go in.
The HTC One X screen is incompatible. You don't have the One X, as much as at&t want to market it that way it's actually the One XL. So, now that you know that you should know that there are three different screens for our phone, you need to open up your device and take note of the colour of the flex cable attached to the screen. Once you've done that you know which of the three screens you need.
PS. Please search our forum before posting next time, there are many threads already discussing this in detail.
