[Q] Will titanium backup pro force close apps on scheduled backups? - General Questions and Answers

I use Titanium Backup to take a backup of my WhatsApp.
I have scheduled it to take backups daily at 5pm. Now my question is that after taking a backup does it force close the app (WhatsApp in my case) and I won't receive messages until I open the app automatically?
Or does the app wake up the app automatically after taking the backup?

In such case, Titanium backup backups all apps + their data without force closing them. You will receive msgs after the backup process once its completed

[Q] How to migrate data to Nexus S

I need help
How I move my data in HTC Hero(GSM) such as SMS MMS Calendar to Nexus S
Calendar is synced in the cloud with google. but as far as SMS and MMS their are apps on the market that will do that for you.
App Data like game saves and app settings will be lost unless your hero is rooted and u can pull it off the /data/ portion

There aren't really any good apps for restoring MMS from what I've searched. Most of the good ones say "MMS not supported" or "MMS restore not supported." Your best bet is using a root application such as Titanium Backup to restore all the MMS.
If you need to store sms in a safe place and don't need it on your phone you should hit the market and get sms backup. It wil take all your sms and store them to your gmail account in the event you need them.
Thank for SMS backup application name,I already backup&restore it.
I have one more question
which application that use for backup other data such as calendar, contact.
I want to use backup application, because I have some problem with calendar sync.
For this problem please look in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914930

Ghat should backup to gmail. Contacts should also backup to gmail/google. As for sms/mms gosms has a backup and restore function built in.
What this guy said ^^^^. You should back up to google for contacts. As far as text I just use the stock and back it up with "SMS Backup and Restore". Great app saves sms to sd card at selected intervals.
for contacts you can also use the export to SDcard option available in the stock app

Good app to back up sms messages?

I am getting a replacement phone today and I was just wondering if there was a good app that will back up all of my sms messages to my SD card? That way when the new phone comes I can just pop the card in and be on my way.
Doesn't TiBu do this?

Im not sure. I should also note that I am not by any means rooted at all
I've used mybackup pro for years when switching between roms and devices. Between that, titanium backup pro and backing up settings in apex it makes it pretty painless to switch.

Use SMS backup and restore

I use TiBu and I know when I first started using it a couple years ago it didn't back up SMS. It indeed might now, but it's not part of my routine. I only use it for user installed apps and nothing system related as I've screwed up a install with bringing over system data from Eclair to Froyo one time...
Anyway, in the past I used the backup provided in Go Sms, but now they want you to backup and restore to their cloud servers, so I switched to SMS Backup and Restore from the Play store. One button backup...one button restore. Worked like a charm....

[Q] Which texting app would you recommend for the SIII?

Whether it's stock, free, or paid, what text message app do you recommend? I'm tired of losing my messages after I change roms..
Download super backup. You can backup your texts and call logs between flashing. I use the stock app

Do you use this alongside titanium backup?
SMS backup & store is good, but slow at restoring. I think Handcent subscription portion has a backup service.

That one works good too, but is slow. However super backup saves to your SD card so if the phone is destroyed they're gone. I use both. Super backup for flashing and SMS backup to keep a more secure backup in case my phone is destroyed.

Backup & restore - How to restore faster while changing ROMs

I have been using My Backup Pro (Paid Version) for backing up Apps+data, SMS, Call log etc.
I have about 6000 SMS. When I take back up, it backs up in 30 secs. But after flashing a ROM when I restore all 6000 SMS, it takes about 1.5 hours. This is really frustrating for me. Restore of Apps+data is fine, takes about 4-5 mins.
What is the best way to restore SMS faster? Any other app or any suggestions for restoring all SMS is 5 mins or so?

Titanium backup restores my sms (9781 messages today) more or less 1.0 - 1.5 hours.
And i always set my phone to airplane mode whenever i restore sms because all incoming messages within that restore period will be deleted.

And it does non-destructive restore, can check for duplicates, and allows scheduled backups to dropbox (with network extension).
And it works across android versions becuase it creates simple XML file

Same problem I had. I have 6.5k sms and it took nearly 1 and a half hour to restore them using go backup yesterday only as I flashed a new ROM.
I once restored 4k SMS using SMS Backup and Restore and I felt it was fast than go backup.
Will try titanium backup as well.
Thanks
Thanks. I will try SMS back up &restore.
I downloaded titanium backup, but couldn't find SMS backup option. There is one to export SMS to XML. But that's for the paid app.

I tried SMS Backup & Restore today. I restored 5400 SMS. It was really fast. It took about 30 mins. But at the end it said failed to restore 75 SMS. This never happened with My Backup Pro. So I guess this is not a reliable software. 75 may not be a big deal, but there is no other information why it did not restore them.
So I guess, the only reliable way to get all SMS restored is to wait for 1.5 hours. Faster is not always accurate/reliable.
That's wierd, never failed for me. Also 30 minutes is way to long for 5K messages with SMS Backup & Restore.

You said titanium back up takes about 1.5 hours for 9000+ SMS restore. Now that means for 5000+ SMS it would take more than 30 mins. Did I miss anything?
Is there a way I can test SMS back up & restore in the free version of titanium backup before I buy the paid version?
