Hi
Just got my nexus 5..... Was playing around the features.... Was wondering can the voice search key phrase "OK Google " replaced by any other word say "Hammerhead"....or any other desirable word.
I did find few other working examples " OK Hugo" ...."Hey Google" etc

No it can't. It would be a lot cooler if we could.

Am I understanding this correctly?
Google now is like a voice operated search engine, while s voice is more like a personal assistant.

Google Now and the voice search on Jellybean are two different things to be honest, Google Now will push information to you like the weather or sports scores. If you're traveling it will also do currency exchange, local time, and some other things. The new voice search is mostly a voice operated search engine, you can ask it questions or commands (whos winning the Olympics, set an alarm, etc) but if you ask it questions like "what is your name" it will just do a search on the query rather than give you a response like s voice. Pretty much if it can't pull up a card with an answer to the question or execute a command it will just do a search instead.

Yeah pretty much, though I hear S Voice is a piece of crap.
Google's voice commands are amazing on Jelly Bean, had it on my Nexus. Samsung should ditch S voice and just go with Google for 4.1, it's that good.

I am running Synergy 1.4 which has Google Now baked in. Far better than S-Voice. If you allow web history when you sign into your google account. It will post cards based on your web searches. Even showing more cards when just showing the weather it showed the times of the next buses that would come by. Not that I use them all the time but great none the less. S-Voice can't compare to that.

100% agree, I am glad I flashed cm10 was definitely worth the risk.
Google Now
Google Now is so much better than S-Voice. It can understand my voice so much better, almost never makes mistakes in the field of voice recognition. S-Voice thinks it knows what you are saying, and screws it up royally or just drags you into a stupid conversation.
Google Now goes straight to Google search with more things a lot faster than S-Voice does.
I've been using it for voice dialing, settings events in my calendar and settings timers and alarms with no problem whatsoever.
"Set a timer for 20 minutes" Google Now sets an alarm for the current time + 20 minutes.

Google Now is decidedly different from Voice Search or Voice Actions.
As a test, go into settings and toggle the off switch for Now, then try doing those things you mentioned.
How do you get Google search like it is on the iPad with the cards etc?
Are you referring to Google now? It will be only available after updating to jellybean

Thanks
I have the jellybeans update and Google voice works really well and has the cards. My question is if there is any way to trigger Google now with bluetooth without root?
Would be awesome if possible, right now it uses S-voice which is no way as good as Google now.
Hi everyone I have a question about ok google everywhere is it work with anyone of you and please advise how you make it work. Thanks in advance

LanguageInput/Voice search/OK google detection
check all the 3 boxes and say ok google 3 times, click OK.
Just for info. After enabling OK Google everywhere you cannot record any sound using voice recorder as microphone stands by for any response from Google. There needs to be a kinda white list to exclude voice recorder. Maybe "ok Google for 3rd party activity" module (already available) be helpful in such case.
The problem that I don't have the 3 boxes I have only ok google from Google search app and I tried everything even ok google everywhere method ?
Your Google now hasn't been updated to latest version yet.

Sounds like you have the latest version. From what I understand, Google is activating ok google everywhere on an acct basis so that probably means you have not been selected yet. However, there is a workaround that you can try. Open the google now app and type in "ok google everywhere" on the search bar. This apparently activates it. Personally i haven't tried this method as i was activated before this workaround was posted.
Make sure you set language to English (US) in case you're using the UK version. Otherwise it doesn't work. Weirdly.

Try this, it worked with me:
1- Open google search app
2- type in : Okay Google Everywhere
3- Hit search
4- Hit menu key and choose settings, then choose voice, then choose OK Google word detection, you should find multiple options including "Ok google from any screen"
Best of luck

I think there's a bug with the Google Search app, if you turn on the ok google on any screen the voice recorder app won't work ?

Very strange, I have never seen that message... Are you running Google Now Launcher v1.1.0.1167994 and Google Search v3.6.14.1337016?
I am using latest google search 3.6 and moto g stock launcher..
BTW..it's working now. May be some other noise was creating that error. Today it has started working fine.

This has happened with me...Since the language has to be English (us) and I am an Indian I had some difficulty getting it to recognise it....Just give the "l" of google a nice role and instead of pronouncing it as googale, pronounce it as google (with that rolly l )

I'm super stoked that the Google Assistant is FINALLY on the Verizon Note 5. For anyone who doesn't yet have it, be sure to update your Google and Google Play Services apps, and you should now have the full, official Google Assistant in all its conversational glory.
Has anyone found any cool easter eggs or just awesome functionality? I've noticed that you can actually activate with Screen-Off by using S-Voice to first wake up the phone, then say OK Google when on the lock screen. A bit wonky but it works in a pinch and is super useful when your hands are full...
I like the texting feature. I can text and drive now.....legally?

Yeah but that was possible even before we got assistant....It was part of google now.
I could get Now to open my messenger but I had to type the message. Assistant will open and understands speech very accurately so no more typing

That's odd, I never had a problem with it, I use extra, but other sms worked just fine for me too.
