[Q] Restore apps from old Google account onto new Google account - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
Background context
I recently migrated from a free Google account to a Google Apps account.
I now have most of my app purchases assigned to [email protected] and some recent app purchases assigned to [email protected].
To the best of my knowledge it's not possible to transfer those purchases from [email protected] to [email protected].
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S III (GT-I9305) with CyanogenMod 10.1.3-i9305 and Titanium Backup Pro.
Scenario
I reset my phone and configured it with [email protected].
I downloaded all the apps purchased with this account and performed a backup with Titanium Backup.
I reset my phone again and configure it with [email protected] and restore my apps from the backup.
Titanium Backup alerted me that my Android ID had changed, so I reverted back to my previous Android ID.
Problem
When I try to update apps purchased with [email protected], I get a 403 error in Google Play.
Question
Is it possible to update apps via Google Play if they were purchased with a different account and restored onto your phone?

[Q] Can you change the main google account on an Andriod phone?

Installed CM7 on a mytouch 4G.
Used my google account to access the Market.
Installed a bunch of apps on it and configured them too.
Now I want to give this phone to a family member.
Can I replace my google account on this phone, without loosing all the apps and the respective configuration settings?
It's been a while since I have used CM. but I don't recall a way to replace the main Google account however you should be able to 'detach' the application from the market. Downloading Titanium Backup Root will allow you to detach the application from the android market where your account is linked to. (I suggest using the same application to do an apps backup first) Then switch the main account and attempt to reattach them. If you lose your settings or lose the apps, you have the backup to revert to.
Hope this help, and if there is an easier way out there use that, but this way is pretty straight forward (and you get a back up )
Cheers,
Java

What?
No app will be deleted if you remove the active google account from settings.
You will most likely not be able to use google apps like gmail until you add a new account (that from your family member), but nothing gets deleted.
Non google apps will most likely work too, except you can't update from market until a google acount is added again and some paid apps employing the google licensing serve might refuse to work as there is no account attached, or the one attached, did not buy the app.
Just try it.

No, it will not let me do that. When I hit the "Remove account" button it says ...
"Do you really want to remove this account? Removing it will also delete all of its messages, contacts, and other data from the phone. Proceed?"
Click to collapse
So I hit the next "Remove Account" button and it says ...
"This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). You do that in the Settings application, under Privacy."
Click to collapse
The only thing relevant under the Settings -> Privacy is the "Factory data reset". Which is what I want to avoid.
There are only a bunch of free apps installed on this phone. I want to keep those apps as-is and just swap the google accounts.
If you backup with titanium, assuming you are rooted, wipe data, flash ROM, then when setting up the phone just enter the new gmail and restore apps with titanium and bam. Kind of a pain, but it will get you where you need.

You can use multiply accounts with all apps usable. Open Market go to Settings/Accounts. Make sure you have the account you would like to use set up in Sync Settings

So if I have 2 google accounts setup under Settings -> Accounts then can I remove the first google account?
(Assuming that the second google account would then become the main google account for this phone.)

After doing a titanium backup, do you need to do the the Settings -> Privacy -> Factory data reset to reset the phone?
To answer the origninal question
In short-yes, you can change the primary google account by looking through the settings.
Without removing the first google account, I added the second google account.
But still it will not allow me to remove the first google account unless I do factory reset. Because I installed apps with the first google account.
However, it did allow me to remove the second google account right away. Because I have not done anything else after adding it.

Android Lolipop: One system user using two Play Store accounts?

Hey
I have upgraded my father's Nexus 7 to the Lolipop 5.0.
He has his own google account with some free apps downloaded, but all the paid ones are on my account. In JB and KK I could let him download the stuff from my account while he was logged on his, now I can't. There is no such an option in the Play Store; I can the system's profile to mine, but then all the downloaded apps are visible on mine profile.
Did I miss something or that's how Google wants to play? :|
I think you have old version play store app try to update with new version in new version there is option to select account I.e if you 2 or more account in same device you can chosen the account what ever you want the latest version is 5.0.38 you can download this by simply searching on Google
5.0.3.8 doesn't seem to help, I still can't choose my accounts in the app

[Q] Lenovo K3 Note - Stock ROM - Contacts won't sync with Google

Hello dear xda-developers!
I just received my Lenovo K3 Note and Flashed it back to the Stock Rom (VIBEUI_V2.5_1529_5_1063.1_ST_K50-TS after an Update) and installed Google Play store. After that I proceeded to install all the Google services and Apps I need.
Everything is working just fine except for the Contacts. When I open Contacts and go to the Account Settings, there is no Google Account. I cannot add a Google Account either, it only offers me WhatsApp.
If I go to Settings --> Accounts --> Google and select my Google Account, then I have the following Sync Options:
App Data, Calendar, Drive, Gmail, Google Fit data, People details
... but no Contacts
I've tried installing 3rd party Contact Apps and also deleting the app-data and cache of the "Contacts Manager" and "Contacts Storage" Apps, but all to no avail. VIBEUI just doesn't even give me the option of getting my Google Contacts.
Any Ideas? I'm really happy with the phone so far, but this needs to work :/
Thanks in advance for any help, but I really don't need workarounds, I know there are tons of ways to export/import contacts, but I use my Google Contacts on multiple devices and I need a way to keep them synced the way Google intended
Cheers!
Same problem here! Did you find any solution?
Mine works just fine, but I'm using Vibeui 2.8 1542. Please try another version of Google apps package.

(SOLVED) beware: contacts update removes contacts

Updating to the latest contact app version causes a loss of all your contacts that are not synced to Google.
Not everyone wants all their data on Google servers. I don't. On my phone, my contacts are currently assigned to "device". When I updated the app from the play store, all my contacts not on Google servers disappeared. Fortunately Titanium Backup restored them - but only if I also restored the older contacts app too.
Looks like Google won't let you keep your contacts unless you share them with Google. Via the new app version. So, you have been warned........
Not nice.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Export your contacts from the old contacts version and import them after the update.
It's a bug.

How do I change to a new primary account?

Google killed my account. I created a new one and added it to the phone, but everything wants to use the old account and won't let me change it. Removing the old account will remove all my messages and other data. How do I promote the new account without losing everything?
One of the things I can't use is the Play Store to download new apps.

You can backup your messages, user apps and user data(but not any of the system or Google data on the device), then remove the old account, then login the new account then restore the data that you backed up.
