Good day,
Anybody knew of a better way to swap SD with Internal besides using External 2 Internal. The app served its purpose but you need to re-enabled it after each reboot if ran at boot already checked. Thanks.

Question: I have been trying to figure this out. When I first went to CM7 I didn't know about the SD and EMMC memory ordeal and just continued as normal. So after a while my SD was showing full and EMMC was barely used.
However... I shortly noticed that I was running low on SD space. NOTE: I swapped the 2GB microSD card for a 32GB microSD. Which prompted me to look deeper at what storage was what? I then found out about the switch in CM7 to use microSD as SD and internal as EMMC. Thus allowing me to use the 32GB microSD as the SD in CM7. Now here is the problem some apps had been moved to prior swapping EMMC/SD (now EMMC), now show up on EMMC but the icon is not correct and when I try to run it says it is not installed.
So if one can move apps from phone to SD, has anyone made an app to move from EMMC to SD? If not I could see people being interested in it. Unless there is an easy way to fix it I may have to get a list of bad app icons and re-install. Then figure out what to do with the EMMC stranded app files. My guess is if the system does not know its installed but the files are there it would just be wasting storage.
How should this EMMC be used?
Thanks for your help!
Ok here is how I fixed it. I changed setting back to us internal as SD. Moved missing apps (the ones that gave an error "Application is not installed on your phone." prior to me changing the setting) from internal SD to phone. Then I changed the setting back rebooted and moved apps back to the SD card.

Hi all,
I've just purchased a Samsung Tab 2 7.0 P3113 due to the fact that it has an external SD Card slot. I have found that I can not move any applications to the external card. This was one of the primary reasons I purchased the device. I have been using android devices for a while and my first Sony X10, was rooted and running custom roms within the first few weeks after I purchased it. In any case, I have read a number of threads, regarding this subject for the Tab 2 but I have not been able to have an installed app be moved to the external SD Card. Most post will say you have to root the device, (which I have) and use apps such as App2SD. I have even gone as far as loading a custom ROM, but no success. My last resort is to actually partition and repackage a ROM for an external 64GB SD Card and attempt to boot off of it so I will have more space. If anyone has truly been able to move an installed app to the external SD Card could you please point me in the right direction.
I would like some help on this too. But the silence is haunting.
Found this under a compilation thread that covers the 3113's and is down further on the same page in this forum.

I hope this helps and sorry for the re-re-re editing
AFAIK (and correct me if Im wrong veterans), is a defect of the OS not hardware. ICS and JB of the GT2's do not allow it as the internal memory is already labeled as sdcard. or that seems to be the prevailing opinion so far. I would like a work around but short of flashing a custom rom and/or kernel it seems unlikely to happen. Downside to that is some things don't work all the way in some roms. Ahh for the old days of my stock+ on my incredible. wait. Im still using it from back last summer and it works fine. TY wildstang!!

Hail Link2SD !!
Only way to move Apps to ExternalSD is using Link2SD for ICS / JB. I have done lot of research and there is no other way. However Link2SD does not move the data files and hence your internal memory will still be filled up as and when you install more apps but at slower rate.
If you want to install games like NFS-MW , Asphalt etc you have to use DirectoryBind tool to move the huge data files (More than 1.5 GB) to external card.
There is a nice tutorial how to use Link2SD here on the forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919326).
You can use ext4 partition as i found ext2 and ext3 were not being recognized by Link2SD. Just a pointer.
PS: ICS and above no longer support moving apps to SD card. If i am wrong experts correct me.
root is your best bet. check this link, use the script and follow the directions. this script worked wonders. my tab thinks i have 32 gb internal and 4gb sd.

I just got this phone today. I rooted with OneSuperclick without any issues; however, I am running into storage problems right now. I don't have a microsd card on hand to store kernel and custom rom. Currently, I cannot save any files to my "SD Card" (internal memory). How can I go about flashing it now? I have 384MB left.
I've never had these issues before rooting other phones.
you need an sd card to put the rom you want to flash on. you can't even flash from internal memory because it needs to be mounted and unmounted for the flashing, I think anyways.
Spend $5 and buy a 2 or 4 gig one, they're cheap now.
I was just confused cause I had no issues before with rooting and flashing a Samsung Captivate and Galaxy SII without a SD Card, so I was wondering what the issue was.
Thanks!

I'm not really familiar with that device but on most you can grab App2Sd from Google Play and it's self explanatory from there, but some devices (like mine) don't et you move apps to the SD Card, but you can move everything else there
And I'm no moderator, but I'm not so sure this isn't the right section for your question, I think it belongs in Q and A

After rooting you can use Directory Bind to link your internal/external storage, but that's not truly moving them to the SD Card, but I think it's the closest you can get. I don't bother with it, I just move all my big files to my SD Card so I have space for my APK's on my internal storage

without rooting u cant have memory swap..root ur grand and install init.d support. and reboot then install this http://d-h.st/AGR and gain reboot. this will convert external memory to internal and internal to external automatically.
use http://galaxygrandcenter.blogspot.in/2013/03/warning-it-will-void-your-warranty-and.html to root.
and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39510406&postcount=1 to add init.d

Thank you sir for the help, I have succesfully rooted my phone throught that guide, though there was a little trouble geeting the Clock Work Mode Recovery but finally got it.
Sir can you tell me the actual usage of CWM, can i get backup of my present status through this mode or do i need to use some app like Titanium Backup pro for that purpose and what info would actually be backed up, like would it store info of the present firmware and is the backup point created in the internal memory or the sd card.
Also sir can you please tell me that if I swap my 32gb ext sd card with 4gb internal memory then when I want to get my phone back to normal mode then how am I gonna do so, I mean the sd card would have let's say some 25gb apps and I want to put the phone back to normal, I mean unswap it then how would it be possible as my internal memory would be only 4 gb, will I have to delete apps or use some recovery option, please make that clear, thank you sir for all your help.

Hi Guys,
I have a Samsung Mega Galaxy i9152. The phones internal storage shows me 399 mb remaining while my SD card has a free space of 14 GB. Is there a way, i can point all apps to download directly to the SD card. I can't clear my internal storage becasue it actually has nothing other than ROM & some few apps. I have tried Link2sd and moved apps to the SD card but not all apps get moved and only 40% of the file gets moved to the SD card. This really is bothering as anytime i need to install something, i need to uninstall something.
Any tips for me?
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist Well except Apps2SD there is no other way you can push to external SD and messing with partitions wont be good idea and can Hard brick phone hence you have to adjust with it
Good Luck!
