Root G2 KK4.4.2 - General Questions and Answers

Having some issues re-rooting my LG g2. A little background on problem, I am had my phone rooted with no issues and everything was working flawlessly. I am in the Navy and deployed for a few weeks well out of cell range off the east coast. I put my phone into airplane mode as to save battery why I was outside of range. One of the guys on the ship was asking about it and was curious on rooting his Samsung Note 3. I showed all the options of it and even showed him that it could be undone. So I went into Superuser and unrooted phone knowing when I got home I could root again and showing him it was safe. When I got back into cell signal I couldnt get any google products to work, Google+, Gmail, youtube, maps, etc... anything that had my gmail/google login didnt work and would tell me I had a connection problem. But net and facebook and all other apps connected to internet just fine. So I decided to plug in a simply re-root phone. I plugged in and ran IOROOT25 as I did before and everything seemed to work just fine. Said it was rooted and rebooted device but root checker said otherwise and device was not rooted. I tried manually rooting with CMD and tried the batch file numerous times with no success. It shows it worked but never really rooted. I am at a loss, I want my phone back rooted so I can fix my Google login info and sync. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

[Q] help: issues with my Huawei Phone

I will try to be as detail as possible.
So I recently bought a Huawei Ascend from MetroPCS, couple days after purchase I rooted my phone with z4root.apk. That worked perfectly and my phone was rooted and everything was alright.
Now the issues started when I decided to install launcher pro (which worked very good) and decided to download another app (this one for rooted phones) that was to be used to unistall stock apps that come with the phone.
I stupidly deleted/unistalled minicanvas.apk , talk.apk, among others.
Next day, my market was not downloading (it was stock on "Starting download) so I looked for help and the market help site said that it could be because I unistalled talk.apk.
So i decided to look online to see if someone had posted talk.apk somewhere so could install it back up. Found some tried them but still the market would not download apps what so ever
So for a last effort, I though that resetting the phone to factory stock settings would get me back talk.apk. When I did that however, the phone took like 15 minutes to turn on, (stuck on the MetroPCS logo), but at the end talk.apk was not restored.
To make things worse, minicanvas.apk was not restored either, so the phone has nothing to show me (although I can recieve call but can't make them).
So now I am here stock looking at the MetroPCS screen, in a desperate need for help. If anyone knows about this, please give me a hand, Thank you...
I just emailed you my link with instructions on how to fix. Let us know how it goes!
Thanks
I recieve what you sent me, did everything it said an tah rahn, phone brain new back to factory settings, thanks so much for you help, you the best

[Q] Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server.

Not solved. Apparently I needed to use a VPN to connect my account though Talk. But now when my VPN isn't on nothing will sync and my gmail won't load. Until today I have never needed a VPN to log into my Google account. Something is obviously still wrong.
So I've flashed dozens of ROM's at this point and have never had this problem before. I have read all the threads and tried the following fixes ...
Pulled SIM and used WIFI
Factory reset
You Tube account ... This actually registers my Google info under accounts but won't sync at all. When I try to sync contacts or anything I get a red exclamation point and nothing happens.
Flashed other ROM's and different gapps.
Tried logging in though other gapps such as Talk and Gmail. Again YouTube will show up on my account tab as synced. It's green and looks synced but if I try to manually sync it the red error shows up again and nothing has actually been synced.
There must be a reason for this yes?
I should also mention that I'm in Shanghai. However I have never had a problem before. What gives? Why now? Could it really be that the server is down and I should just try again tomorrow?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Yeah... i've been having a similar problem in xiamen for about 3 days... china unicom?
Oh? And also never had this happen before? Happened after you flashed a new ROM?
I'm with CMCC.
What makes me think something is rotten is Chinatown is the fact that if I do use my VPN everything is OK. I'm hoping this isn't the case.
I'm searching for some old TB files I can toss on my phone to try and restore it to an earlier date. If that doesn't work maybe a super crusty old ROM will work. I really am out of ideas at this point.
I wonder if getting rid of root and going stock would fix anything?
Error Message
I have also same problem for past 3 days on China Mobile in Shanghai. I belive it should be something to do with the carrier or Network accessibility to Google products... I am on Galaxy S2.
Today I checked on couple of my friends with Nexus and Galaxy S1 and confirmed that they also face same problem...
Currently the only Google app that's working is Google Translate ... The rest however won't work without my VPN on.
So it looks like this is both CMCC and Unicom so far. I don't even know if there is anything else.
The funny thing is Google + has been working on my phone from launch with no problems. Not anymore though.
Anyway there are so many places selling Android devices in China I could only imagine that this is temporary.
I wonder if there is any way to edit some of the carrier info to make things work?
Apparently there is something going on, it looks like.
It looks like it's happened before, and after about 3-4 days it sets itself aright...
Anyone figure out a workaround? I was using a pretty good VPN, but the android version only has pptp and therefore barely works here. I can't get any programs, email, or anything on my phone after a factory reset... this makes me sad.
*had some links posted but I guess I need to post a few more times before it lets me*
Anyone figure out any updates or fixes for this yet?
It's been like that for several days now...I'm with CMCC. After sometimes it'll be okay as usual....black "magic" I would call it.
VPN is a no no for me, used to work fine till they block it. I'm using SSH Tunnel now...no problem in general except from time to time (once in a very blue moon like now) when "they" cast their "magic"
Without tunneling. market couldn't get through these days.
How annoying. I even tried taking out my SIM card, and doing a hard reset, and then trying to download my software from my WIFI, but it's not a DDWRT router so I can't access the VPN.
Is there software that can turn an OpenVPN connected computer into a Wifi router? If I logged into my computer which is on a VPN, maybe I could at least re-download all my apps from the market......
*sigh* or wait heh
I got the same problem like last 5 days ...i m in China too ..with china unicom ...i tried everything possible like factory reset, uninsalling and installing gapps, install stock image , cache cleaning ....BUT ...CAN'T LOGIC GOOGLE ....
at last i used VPN on my phone ..and its sync and connect in a second ...problem gone...Happy to have my fully functional phone back
MAGIC Happened again
Just trying to log into the market .. yes now we can access the market and other google products..

NO connectivity even after factory reboot. Big problem, need help!

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 G920P.02
Android 5.1.1
Rooted, No ROMS
I am very, VERY confused. This makes absolutely no sense to me. I believe my phone is just fried but I will find out when I take it into the sprint store tomorrow. I will most likely get a new/replacement phone but they will have no idea what caused the problem and I need to figure out how this happened so it won't happen again. I'm also very curious as I don't understand at all.
The problem: It started with me not being able to connect to the internet on ANY of my apps. No crashes or anything, just no connectivity to the internet. Calls and SMS still worked like normal. After calling sprint support they told me dial ##72786#, which then just simply broke calls and SMS. Now NOTHING works.
What caused the problem: This is where I am most confused. I was trying to setup a VPN (purevpn, to be exact) on my Xbox One. In the process of this, I was modifying my router settings on my Windows 8 PC, plugged in a 2nd router, and constantly turned the wifi off and on. I was using my phone to test if the wifi was still working. (e.g. going to google.com on firefox or launching clash of clans...literally that was it) The only thing that I can think may have messed it up was a step in settings up the VPN. On my computer, after I installed the purevpn software I located myself to "Network and Sharing Center", then clicked "Adapter Settings", then clicked on "Pure VPN", then "Sharing", then checked the box "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection", and lastly from the drop down menu, selected "Local Area Network." This allowed all devices on my network to use the VPN. Somehow this messed up my phone that hard?

Steps I have taken to fix this: I tried rebooting my times a million times. Then I cleared DNS cache in firefox and tried to connect. Then I tried hard rebooting my phone to flush DNS cache. Then I called sprint support, who told me dial ##72786#. After dialing this, calling and SMS DO NOT WORK. "Hands free activation" starting running after dialing that number and fails to work everytime. When I wasn't able to call the phone rep back, I used the sprint online chat support. I told the online rep what happened, and they assured me the only way to fix this was to factory reset my phone. As frustrated as I was, I did it. After the factory reboot, my phone STILL CAN'T CONNECT TO ****. Exactly how it was before the reboot, except I lost all of my stuff. I have done countless google searches and am clueless and need help.
Google will push all your stuff back to the phone after you log into your account. But you'll need the internet for that.
How did you get root?

I really don't remember, It was months ago. I paid $30 for it though and have never had issues with it.
Just brought it into a sprint tech store and they fixed by putting in a fresh sim card, reseting the phone, cache, dns, and everything they could reset. After that did not work they flashed an updated version of my phones software on the phone, which removed the root , and fixed the issue.
I explained what I did to all of the employees in the store (I was the only one there) and they were all as clueless as me.
Does anyone know what could have possibly caused this?

My Samsung S9's sim card and WiFi(Internet) are not working.

I have a Samsung S9(SM-G960F/DS). Actually when I got this phone, It was rooted via Magisk App. Every thing was working perfect, internet and Sim-cards, games etc. But when I tried to run my banking app, it said "Rooted devices not supported". I looked for unroot solutions on internet and most of people suggested to complete unroot via Magisk manager APP. I did this and my phone restarted after unroot. But since then, my sim-card and internet are not working. Sim-card is completely disabled and WIFI is acting in a weird way. WIFI is connected but still "!" sign appears, secondly internet is working in a very weird way again. We can only search on google but cant open any site, similarly we can search video on YouTube but cannot play any video, we can send and receive messages and pics on WhatsApp but cant download voice notes. This is the issue I am facing. If any one can understand this situation and could provide some solutions then it will be really appreciated. I can explain further if someone's willing to discuss this issue. Thanks.

Att/Tmobile firmware update unlocked Note 10+

Short store - installed firmware and now none of the OEM apps are on the phone. No ATT logo on bootup.
So months back my wife bought me an unlocked samsung note10+ that was new. I was using it via wifi fine but finally went to use with my sim card for att and learned it didnt work to make or receive calls. After investigating I learned I needed to flash the firmware with tmobile which would work for ATT. I found a video with instructions to reset phone, install usb drivers for window, run odin, load each firmware file into the correct boxes and then hit start and it said success and restarted phone. I can now call out and receive calls on the phone however the phone didnt boot up with the ATT logo not does it have any apps at all on the screen. I lost all my stock apps like the clock, calendar and all the oem ones, whether google maps, youtube and all that jazz.
Did I do something wrong? How do I get all those back as I need maps and youtube and definitely a clock to set alarms.
My apologies if in the wrong forum.

T mobile firmware doesn't have AT&T bloatware or AT&T specific apps and features(which you did not need and are not important anyway). As long as you are connecting to your network and can use the phone without issues, you will be fine. If you want the AT&T apps(including stock clock and calendar), you can probably find them online with a Google search and install them manually. As for the AT&T boot screen, it would require rooting the device to change that to AT&T boot screen. Maps and YouTube can be installed from Google PlayStore.
I have a N975U and and N975U1. AT&T brings nothing to the table I use. Both are nearly identical, I simply package block the AT&T apps on the one.
I use Samsung calendar and clock. Clock may not install for you as I'm running on Pie. Calendar won't upload here. Not sure why. It's 25mb, it should upload...

Upload it to a hosting site then link it here, then it should work just fine.
