How can I get a fade for screen off and on animations without xposed on stock?

I may be completely wrong, but I don't think you can get that on stock. Take a look at developer options and see if you can change something there. I've never used xposed but I've seen the option to change screen off animations on custom roms. There may be an app that does this, but you'd probably need root.
Well I'd imagine there's a way to modify a file to do it on stock.

If you were able to modify said file, I think you'd still need the screen fade animation (whatever file that may be) to be able to see it in effect. I'm no expert though.
Pretty sure if you turn animations off in developer options it'll stop it. Havent checked.

Need Xposed + GravityBox or a custom rom.

I know that if I ever decide to flash a custome ROM on this phone this won't be an issue. But I need a very stable phone for business purposes that I can Warranty for a replacement on a moments notice. For this reason this may be the first phone I don't Root and obviously don't install any custome ROM's on.
I absolutely hate the backround image on the unlock screen. Anyone know if a way to change that image? Or better yet use a better unlock option without Rooting the phone?
Are you simply referring to the wallpaper on the unlock screen when it's showing the date/time? You can change that in Settings > Display > Screen Display > Lock Screen > Wallpaper. Or you can pick any picture in the Gallery and hit the menu button, Set As, Lock Screen Wallpaper.

I thought you could root use the deoxed stock rom or whatever, and if you feel like it later... use the untouched stock rom, and then unroot.
Am I not right?

Yup there is the setting plain as day. Feeling kind of dumb at the moment.

I haven't even looked into what the root and ROM options are on this phone yet. I use it for business so I convinced myself that I would just keep it 100% stock. I know some people will argue this point but all custom ROM's are buggy. I flashed the heck out of my Cappy and the thing at times became unusable.

No worries. I was just asking, for my knowledge. Like you I don't want to do it, but if i do, I want to know I can go back if I do. Just in case I need to return or swap it out.
I was just curious as to if there is a way to change the lock animation of the Xoom. I'm running Eos 3 nightly 117. What i mean by lock animation is this: For example, on my droid 4, when you hit the lock button, the screen looks like a TV turning off, similar to what you can do on this video. Right now, it just flashes off. It would be cool to have something different!
That's called CRT off animation. And I believe you can force enable it in build.prop

Where/how would one do that at? Yes I know using root explorer, but where at in build.prop
because I looked around and couldn't find what you're referring to

If you dl the app "Screen Off and Lock"--I think the paid version--it has some animation options. You do need to set you animation settings to at least .5 in Developer Options-(Settings) to get it to work.
Thanks a bunch mate!! =D
I'm running ViperROM 1.8.0 and no matter what I do I cannot get the CRT screen-off animation to work. I have 2 apps that do this (possibly more that I've forgotten about), one being the obvious; Venom Tweaks and two being Sense 6 Toolbox. I originally figured that them both having it enabled was interfering with it but I was wrong. I've disabled both and re-enabled each one individually and still cannot get the CRT power off animation or even the Fade one for that matter. I'm also quite sure that I've gotten it previously but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it back nor am I sure if it was even the same ROM I managed to get it with (all though I am quite sure I managed to do it with 1.8.0 too).
How & or what do I need to do to get it? I love the animation as it just adds life to the phone to me.
Bump & another question, is it possible to get a kernel module like in the ElementalX kernel to use swipe up to wake or double tap to wake without the motion requirements??
Bumpppp

Did you reboot or soft reboot after you enabled it in sense 6 toolbox?

Yes
Well that's odd. I have both enabled on my M8 that is only rooted via weaksauce.
Let me take a quick guess.
You have animations all set to off?
Or at least the "Animator Duration Scale"
It's like this on 4.4.4 AOSP as well.
You must have this set to at least the minimum, the other two animation scales may be left off.
If you have animations on, then please ignore this lol.

Yes I turned that one back on and it fixed it, thank you! I had no idea that was even related to the screen off animations lol. Never thought I'd get this one solved or it'd be something as simple as that

Glad I could help.
It's actually been this way all the way back on HTC Sense 2.1, possibly even before that but I think I remember it becoming an issue on the HTC Inc2 with Sense 2.1.
The instructions to enable system ui tuner on the web don't appear to be working...holding down the sprocket on the toggle screen till it spins doesn't enable the menu...anyone else know how to get to it?
Also still looking for a way (non xposed) to assign long hold of back button to kill foreground app.
Should say system UI tuner added to settings after holding for about 5 seconds.

It should..I agree...thats what all the suggestions say and I can see the wheel spin....but it's not in the list. Are you saying it worked for you? If so I may need to go back to a fresh install and try this again.

For me also it worked.
I finally got the thing to appear and I'm still not certain how...I think marshmallow is much more picky about the touchscreen and the glass screen protector I have on it....taps are not being interpreted right all the time....anyway thanks for confirming. Ironically by the time I enabled the menu I had already enabled xposed and found ways to set all the things I woul d have been able to do from system ui.
I updated gravity box and installed Android N ify, after that I couldn't use my soft keys. I uninstalled both apps but nothing happened. I am using the latest ROM with ElementalX.
Any potential fixes? I don't want to start fresh again

That's why you should always take a backup before you do/try things that can affect your operating system.
A possible solution is to uninstall xposed framework with the flashable uninstaller zip and dirty flashing the ROM you are running. Its possibly a setting you accedently enabled without knowing what you we're doing.

You're first post was on the 24th and you post again today. Have you really been going 5 days without softkeys?
First off, when you say you couldn't use your softkeys, are you saying they are visually their and tapping them does nothing. Or are they gone completely? GravityBox is the only module out of those two that can hide or even disable the softkeys. Did you turn them off in the app under the navigation bar options? There is also an expanded desktop mode in the "display tweaks."
Simply installing gravity box and N-ify shouldn't disable your softkeys as long as you are using everything right.

It was a backup device, I don't know what I did. I uninstalled both apps and still had this issue. And expanded desktop was of when I did it, it appeared that it just didn't simply load.
