[Q] Headset messed up somehow?? Help! - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone.
I own a Moto G XT 1033 stock KK 4.4.2 ( non rooted locked bootloader )
Pretty happy with phone in every respect.
However something weird has happened.
From this morning whenever I plug in my headsets into the phone for listening the music the music stops and cracks.
Plays bits and pieces and that too the sound comes from the speakers and not the headsets.
Since the stock headsets are too uncomfortable I use Sony's headsets.
I tried with different ones and no use.
The music works fine on speaker but messes up every time is plug in my headsets.
Anyone had the same issue?

Sounds like the headphone jack/port on the device itself is messed up.
Maybe one of the grounds is not working properly, or disconnected all together.

I would. If multiple headsets don't work, chances are the device needs servicing.

You said, problem with button...
You may have installed more then
One music related app and made some as default to handle your hands free...
This may cause problem...
If possible , factory reset and try...
Or change rom...
If you are within warranty period, better to go to store without wasting time...
Ok.. I vl go and get it repaired...although its nt under warrenty...
Hope it wont cost much.. :-/

[Q] Orginal headphones sound quality.

I got my NS on December and I am extremely happy with it, though I face a problem when it comes to talking to someone through the original headset. According to them, they can hear all the background noises WAY louder than they are supposed to and they cannot hear my voice! This is clearly a headset problem since I get no such complaints when I am using the phone's microphone and although I can accept that there will be some extra bg noise when talking through the headset I find it hard to believe that I would deafen them by the use of my hands free.
Does anyone face the same problem? Does someone have to propose another kind/3rd party headset that would work better or perhaps some sort of a software tweak that elludes me...
Running ICS 4.0.4 stock unrooted.
Thank you in advance.
Was having problems with my head phones too. I bought new Samsung head phones and everything is perfect now so I'll suggest u try getting a new set.

[Q] Auxiliary Audio Out Problem

Hello,
I just switched over to the HTC One S T-Mo version from the GS2. Phone is great has its pluses and minuses over the GS2 however I am having one little issue with my device.
Whenever I try to use audio out into my car stereo it does not work it plays through the phone speaker. I was wondering if there was a setting for that on the phone? I looked on everything option I could think of. At first I thought it was the cable, but I tested it on my friends GS2 and my Ipod as well and still works flawlessly. Then I thought it was the app( Google play) but I also tried with pandora and youtube and still no dice.
I used the search on here but came out empty, just wondering if you guys knew anything about this?
P.S. I tried two HTC ONE S's already both same thing.
Thank You
Not really and answer, but I tried using mine as well through aux input in my car, and same issue. I got a replacement from T-Mobile because the tech at the help desk said it shouldn't do that. I've tried 2 different cables in 2 different cars and same result. Sound through One S speaker. Really annoying. I had the Sensation which worked fine but not sure why this phone will play through the headphones but not through car speakers.

Mine plays through my speakers...
Its just like a pair of headphones.

I agree that's how it should work. When I have my head phones in, I get sound through the head phones, but when I use it through my car stereo(I've tried 2 cars, 2 different cables) the sound comes through the one s speaker not the car speakers. All my other phones have worked the right way but this continues to play through phone speaker. Weird. This is my 2nd one s. I returned the 1st because of this very issue. Thank you.

Auxiliary Mode
My car stereo has an AUX mode that I have to manually switch it to when I want to play music from my phone through my car speakers. I noticed that some devices will switch my stereo into that mode, where as my One S will not. I suggest that you check and see if there is a way to manually enter this AUX mode from the stereo as that may be something that you never noticed because its been doing it for you this whole time.
Thank you. I have manually put it into aux mode and still one s speaker. I am going to try it in my Toyota today and see if it works. Hopefully not 0 for 3. I just wasn't sure if there was a setting on the one S I'm missing. Just seems weird that it's my 2nd one s and 2 different cars and 2 different wires.

Are those stock radios in both vehicles? If not what model of radios are you connecting your phone to.
Yes. All 3 are stock. 07 mercury, 10 Toyota and 12 Ford. All using different cables. Maybe return the phone again? Thank you.

There is an app on the market that will force the sound through the auxiliary output. I forget the name, you could try that.
So it works for headphones?
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
That's the strange thing. Headphones work fine. Even the beats comes on. Weird issue.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
Try SoundAbout from the market. While it's not an official fix it should get your desired result.
If it works with headphones then I don't think your phone is the problem, it just doesn't make any sense. Set the radio to AUX, start the music on the phone and plug it while its playing, see if that works. I am at a loss.
I did that as well,I could hear the static "pop" through the car speakers when I plug in the aux jack, but it just continues to play through the phone speaker on all 3 cars. Thank you.

You can definitively say that the cables you have tried work, you have use those same cables with an iPod or some other player, right?
Yes. I had a galaxy s3 and sensation before this and they've both worked through these same cables. Thank you.

So I called htc and the woman I spoke with said I need a cable that is certified to work with one s. But she couldn't tell me any. Does anyone know of a special 3.5 mm aux cable for our one s? Thank you.

That sounds like BS, I have a cable that I made myself and it works just fine.

Random Zapping noise while listening to music

Not sure how to exactly describe the sound but I randomly get a ear piercing zapping noise while listening through earphones or connected to aux wire in the car. After it happens the volume gets lower and I have to pull out the wires and then restart the song. Anyone else experience this?
Fyi my setup is latest synergy r147. But it also happened since I had r125.
Maybe its just hardware related.
this is only happening in poweramp and not the stock player.

Not necessarily. It could be that your audio cable is damaged or there is a grounding loop if you're charging it as well

poweramp seems to be the problem
I tried playing the same files on the stock player but never got the squealing noise. and if i unplug it it still squeals. and it happens when it is cold outside. pls help i cannot figure it out. seems like poweramp is the problem so i deleted poweramp and reinstalled it. and only restored data from TIBU. and after a while the noise comes back. i don't know what to do

It's the file format themselves then. Which file formats do you notice cause the squeaking? For me, I noticed that wma and m4a files cause constant squeaking in PowerAmp whereas mp3's work fine. I have zero issues playing those same audio files in the stock player. Basically, any music files that I placed on my phone from Windows Media Player and iTunes cause music popping/cracking unless using the stock music player.

It's ridiculous that those two file formats cause issues for me. The worst part is I have those same exact files on my HTC Droid Incredible and have absolutely no issues. It was something I noticed immediately once I received my GSIII in July but previously had no issues with. Months ago I sent an email to the PowerAmp dev to inquire about this and they told me it was an issue with Samsung's firmware not their app. It seems like Samsung sabotaged music file compatibility with third party apps. I still love PowerAmp though.

I've been having the same problem. Whether its my ear phones, AV cable in the car or, at work it does it. Even on different apps (native music player, play music, and podcast app). I have an otter box so my ports are good and clean and no water damage. No idea why it happens but I've got a replacement on the way for an unrelated reason. So hopefully it won't do it too.

Fwiw I think I found the problem....it was a low voltage problem. When my voltages for kernel settings were tweaked to be lower I would immediately get the zapping sounds. Can't say what the levels were but anything I setup away from stock...it happened. Hope this helps anyone.

Xperia Z3 D6653 Mic Issue

Hi there. I got this old xperia z3 from my brother. I have this weird problem. The mic doesnt work on calls EXCEPT when im on speaker phone. It also does work on the Audio Recorder app of sony xperia from playstore. Has someone experienced this issue? Is my mic faulty?
EDIT: The phone is at latest .575 MM Stock Unrooted rom. Also disabled ok google. Tried restarting and resetting the phono. Doesnt seem to work
Check the service menu and try both microphones, this phone has 2 mics and one may be not working properly.
I have the same issue but with the top microphone not working well, I can't call using the speaker.

My primary mic seems to be faulty. The secondary at top is the only one working. Have you taken your z3 to the service center or to your local repair shops?

U could use some earphones with mic or, if your phone doesn't have warranty anymore, take it to a repair shop, that piece costs cents
EDIT
or, it might just be some dirt in the mic hole
