Question about CM11 - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I apologize if I'm posting in the wring section, but I didn't see a thread specifically for CM11 in the Android Development section.
So, I've been running CM11 since the day I got the phone (Mother's Day, on the 11th) and couldn't be happier with the results. However, I have issues with the media sound not working when playing something from an app.
For example, I'll boot up the phone and then I'd head into SoundCloud or the Play Store and play a track. Either one, the first time trying to play something works. If I choose a new track to play, my sound is gone. This doesn't include YouTube, that's all good.
So is anyone else having this problem? It's really frustrating.

Here's the cm11 thread. All carriers use the same zip but I'm sure we'll have a Verizon thread up as the ROM matures.

[Q] CM10 + Firefox = Crashes?

Is anyone else using Firefox on CM10? It seems it can't handle being open longer than a minute or two (on any page) before it crashes, and I'm just curious if anyone else is using CM10 and has experienced the same problem. It doesn't appear to happen on Sense or CM9-based ROMS.
Yup I was getting this as well, I just went back to stock browser.

If that is still holding true than it looks like it's a bug in FF 15 that makes it not like CM10 for some reason. Oh well, as long as it's fixed in the new version I'm happy!
Using ff beta doesn't help :-[
I tried both the current version and the latest beta as well with no success. It'll work on first launch flawlessly but every time after crashes almost immediately.

Hi,
We believe this was an issue on our side (Mozilla) and is now fixed on our developer channel. Can you try out a Nightly build now (http://nightly.mozilla.org) and report back if things are fixed for you?
Currently testing. I'll report in a while.
---------- Post added at 08:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:40 PM ----------
After spending some minutes browsing with multiple tabs, not a single crash has been seen, so I think you get rid of that bug in last nightly. :highfive:
I suppose this will be included in next Firefox update, isn't it?
Thank you!
Also can confirm this is working. Hope to see this in the beta soon

PlayStation Mobile

Not sure how many people have seen this, but they just updated it and it's working flawlessly on my GS3. I downloaded an app from the PlayStation Store and it downloaded fine, installed fine, and it plays fine. The app was a free one called Everybody's Arcade, but as a proof of concept that works for me. Now to start buying apps!!

what rom are you running? cause i just get an error after downloading.
nevermind. i got it working. seems rather lame though at this point. hope it gets better
Did you flash the certs? Also, the app will update itself and that new version is the one that works perfectly. The certs have to be flashed first though. The androidcenteral link should have them.

Once you have Pandown running, start up Pandora, then refresh the list once it starts playing
You can preview songs before downloading them, since its not yet possible to get track info outside of Pandora.

One thing that may help is rebooting your device, starting pandora then the downloader and see if it picks it up from there. One other question is which version of Pandora do you have? I've tested this on Pandora versions 4.2, 4.1, and 1.6. This was also working on my Nexus 4 on 4.2.2.

My Pandora was the latest on play store.

Yeah, same here. Nothing shows up in list and it constantly force closes. I tried clearing data, uninstalling, reinstalling. No go. I'll hold off on the Play store review to give dev.a chance to fix it. E4GT GB27

[Q] Volume mods for bluetooth, etc

Hello everyone, forgive me if this has been asked before, I searched and found nothing similar so here goes.... Just got new Verizon HTC ONE M8 on Saturday and love the phone but would love to know how to increase volume for bluetooth specifically but all volumes would be handy to boost if possible. Anyone know what system file(s) dictate volume levels? Thanks!
I just hooked up my Bluetooth to my ear and its pretty loud.

Had an HTC evo 4g lte on Sprint before this phone and it was much louder when connected to an in car Bluetooth system. That's why I'm asking how to make it louder.

You may consider using the "HTC car" app if it is available with the M8. It worked for me with the One (M7). See M7 post:

[Q] Contacts displaying by nickname. Would like to turn off.

I just switched from a Moto X to the LG G3. First, the screen is fabulous. After that I am losing interest quickly (bloatware galore).
I just spent the better part of an hour troubleshooting why I couldn't edit my existing Google contacts on the phone. Turns out you have to enable displaying of the local "Phone"calendar in the Calendar app. My best guess as to why is because for some reason the phone wants to save Birthday events to the phone calendar. There really is no reason for that.
My current issue. For one reason or another I have nicknames in some of my contacts. I use these nicknames (Such as when I tell Google Now to "Call my Wife") it adds the nickname. I am a little OCD about my contacts so it absolutely kills me that it now moved my wife down to the bottom and filed her under Wife. I see the options to Sort and Display by first or last but I am not finding the option to not display nicknames.
Anybody know of a solution? Thanks in advance.
Dennis

Same problem here - It's driven me nuts - I cannot figure out how to get rid of the Nicknames - Interestingly as an android flashing addict - I have not had this problem "EVER" - I want my nicknames - just not on the phone.
Update on this issue?
Does anyone have any updates on this issue? I just switched from a S4 to the G3 and I really dislike this feature. How can I make it so it doesn't display nicknames?

Well that was helpful. Why even comment?
As the OP, no I never did find a way around this. I dropped nicknames and am hoping it gets fixed in Lollipop.
Well folks I fixed it by deleting the annoying contacts and remaking them again with less love

You shouldn't have to delete the contact completely. You can just edit the existing one and clear the nickname.

I comment because I had the same problem and couldn't find an answer. after flashing most any custom rom I haven't had the issue and I have not changed my contacts. I'm on ROM 855 minus 5 and contacts work as they should.
I tried installing google contact, but no success, looks like problem of OS not the app
