[Q] Brand new, update to 4.4.2, boot loop - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
My girlfriend bought a new Moto G yesterday. When she connected to WiFi during the setup, the device immediately said an update to 4.4.2 was available. She downloaded and applied the update but now her phone only shows the blue Motorola orb and then a black screen for 10 seconds. This loops until the battery runs out.
I can access the bootloader (flashed both the EU 4.4.2 firmware and the GB one and both don't give any errors but don't resolve the issue).
I can't access the recovery (it just seems to reboot the phone) or factory reset it from the bootloader.
Any idea what might be happening and how I can resolve this?

I didn't find any other solution other than sending it back, so it's on its way to get replaced.

[Q] screen flicker during boot xt1033

Guys im using xt1033 i converted it to gpe 4.4.4 and tried updating it to 5.0.1 via otg sideload and i got stuck in Google unlocked logo and so that i flashed stock rom again.after that whenever i boot my phone or whenever im in recovery there is a line orginating from top and flows till the bottom continuously. This stops only when i turn off the screen after boot and turn it on. Then my phone works normally. I wanted to know that weather this is a problem due to flashing? Or due to hardware? Or something else ? Need solution for getting rid of this. I also wanted to know that weather i can flash roms with this problem ? Im scared that my phone will not work if i flash something with this problem. Guys please get me through this... Thanks in advance...
Be patient and there will soon be a permanent fix for this issue.
Locking and then unlocking the screen may be the best solution till now.
solved
I flashed android 5.0.1 gpe again and the problem is gone now my phone works fine

Solved!
I was looking-forward for way to get back to 4.4. or to update to 5. I found this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/guide-convert-brazilian-firmware-gpe-5-t2969472, it gave me an 4.4.4 GPE then i was able to do OTA api again, without problems.
Sent from my Moto G 5.0.1 Stock ))

what did you run:
BRAZILIAN 5 TO 4.4.4 GPE.BAT or ANY FIRMWARE TO 4.4.4 GPE.BAT
i'm on moto g GPE.
it's not a BRAZILIAN version.
also, after you downgrade your phone to 4.4.4, you immediately got an OTA update to 5.0.1 loolipop again?
thanks!

You might not realize but you are on Brazilian.
You can run the downgrade and Lollipop will NOT update.
i'm glad to say that i followed the guide that user "l0v3" linked here, and now i have lollipop 5.0.1 GPE on moto g xt1032.
i don't have brazilian device, so in stage 4 in the guide, i use the command:
ANY KK FIRMWARE TO 4.4.4 GPE.bat
after kitkat 4.4.4 installed, i connected my phone to my home network, and then checked if there is a software update on the device.
and YES, it found again lollipop 5.0.1 and download it.
now the installation worked as it should and i have a new lollipop 5.0.1 GPE
p.s.1:
all the data on my device was wiped out, besides what was backedup to google+ etc'.
no problem for me, because i do not have any important data on my moto g.
p.s.2:
in stage 3, you have to *first* disconnect your phone from the computer(of course if the phone already disconnected from the computer, you don't have to do nothing ).
then get into bootloader mode and *now* connect your phone to the computer.

[Q] Moto G bricked

Hi,
My friend's Moto G has been acting really weird over couple of weeks, first it started freezing, then started to work really slow and now it doesn't want to boot into Android as it gets stuck on Motorola logo.
He hasn't done any rooting, changing ROMs whatsoever, the problem just came out of nowhere.
He's not able to boot into recovery as it gets stuck on Motorola logo.
What could be the cause of this?
Is there any way to fix it?
Thanks.

Thanks for reply, the warranty just finished a week ago. I'll try to reflash it through fastboot using this method here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219 but doubt it will work.
Thanks.
EDIT: Reflashed Stock ROM and everything works fine, weird.

Stock Moto (xt1003). Black Screened a day after Lolipop

Updated the moto g and was successful. It was used for a couple of days before the error cropped up.
Now, it boots up but goes to a black screen after the boot animation. However, it still connects to the computer and I'm able to see the phone and its files in explorer. Beyond that, I can't interact with the phone because the screen is totally black. (adb doesn't work because (i think) usb debugging was not enabled.)
Additionally, I can access the bootloader, but selecting 'factory' or 'recovery' isn't doing anything - just black screens with every option.
The phone was perfectly fine for a few days after the update. (The phone is unrooted and unmodded and was running stock at lolipop update.)
I have no idea what to do. Help would be appreciated.
Sounds like the stock ROM is corrupted.
Are you really XT1003? What version of Lollipop did you upgrade to?
i updated moto g. When i change bright screen was Black

Rebooting problem after lollipop update :(

After upgrading my moto g (1st gen), whenever I lock my phone it continuously starts rebooting the phone. Currently the only option I have is to keep the phone unlocked and screen open.
How to fix it?

kindly tell me how you managed to get into the lock screen, after continuous restarting of the mobile.
I updated my moto g (1st gen) to lollipop(5.0.2) on 6th feb.
Started having the restart problem from yesterday evening.
I managed to put the mobile in safe mode, and it has shut down by itself after some time of inactivity
Please help
same problem here as well
My moto 1st gen was updated 2_weeks back. Until yesterday I didn't face any issues. From yesterday onwards seeing auto restart.
Unable to trace the problem. Would factory reset help here?
Did you updated ota on stock phone without root? If not you maybe should flash something back from scratch and see how it goes
Facing same problem.
Its about 2 weeks since I updated to Lollipop.
Both SIM Does not work, Wi-Fi does not turn on, and mobile reboots whenever screen goes off.
Factory Reset also did not fix it.
Anybody please HELP! :crying:
That Update sucked.!
After facing this problem, I did a factory reset of my phone. For few days it worked without any hassle, but suddenly it started giving same restart problem. Again did a factory reset but this time it did not solve my problem. As my phone was in warranty, gave it to motorola service center. They found out that there was some problem in my phone's PCB and needs to be replaced. They replaced my phone's PCB and now I don't have any such problem.
So, if your phone is under warranty, I would suggest to go to service center.
For those owners with no warranty, you could try unlocking the bootloader, flash back to your stock ROM, and try the OTA update again.
