Sony Xperia ST26i only have 750mb Phone Memory
and all installed application always in phone memory
even after move some of the data to internal storage it's just not enough
is there anyway to increase it ?
You can use sdcard as internal storage. Check tutorials in forum about howto or flash a rom with sdcard as internal.

Use FolderMount, it works really well.
if your phone is rooted just make a fresh restore or re-flash your phone and first thing you do after that is to uninstall the system apps that you dont use.. just be careful with the apps that must not be uninstalled

Hello
I have installed CyanogenMod 7 on my Galaxy Ace then downloaded all the apps I had when I was using the stock ROM. Then, I moved all the apps one by one to the SD card (which I could not do with the stock ROM) and yet I have LESS internal memory that I used to have.
Why? What can I do?
Thanks
There are more advanced options, but to start out you might want to try clearing all app caches.
If that still doesn't free up enough space, you can try out link2sd

I use Link2sd clean all app caches with one click!
Thanks to both of you. I downloaded Link2SD and emptied all the apps cache but it was only a total of 1.14MB. So that won't do it.
What is the "Delvik Cache"? Could that help?
Clearing the dalvik cache does nothing, as Android will simply rebuild it after a reboot.
However, since you've installed link2sd, you might as well use its primary function: to move apps to an SD card partition

Ok so I've managed to move all apps to the SD card with link2sd instead of the built in way and gained a little space (about 10 MB). I guess that's the best I can have for now :S
Moving apps to the SD card won't really free up space. There is a designated amount of unusable memory specifically for apps. On some phones it is as much as 2GB. So even if you have ZERO apps, that 2gb will still not be available. You are actually doing more harm than good. The apps you move to your SD card will not run as well.
im also noob on this kind of matter so i thanks people who helped coz i too have a CM7 on my xperia x10 mini pro with low internal memory
what i did to solve the low memory is that i made a partition on my sd card which is sd-ext4 and activated A2SD on Settings>CMsettings>performance>a2sd
they say it tricked my phone of having more internal memory than its actual size, and every time i install apps it automatically gets in my SD
Is that good?

Thanks for this tip! I did pretty much the same thing and it's working great! I have 1 gb just for my apps and my phone thinks it's internal memory so the apps all work like they should (with widgets and all)
My xperia tipo says that my total internal memory is 2.15gb. It also says that I have 1.40gb left. However, when I calculated the size of the folder 'sd card', which is my internal memory, using es file explorer, it is only 150mb big. What is going on? Where's the other 550mb?
Android system takes 200mb of memory also maybe when you installed/unistalled program phone didn't delete whole data. Try doing factory reset and beware you will lose all data. Backup them.

I did a factory reset about 10 times so far Anyway, I managed to swap my internal with my external sd memory and now "sdcard" folder is 15gbs big! So now I can install mc4, nfs mw and other stuff. Thanks anyway

Here's where I found what I was looking for, but this thread is for the xperia tipo. I'm not sure If it could work on your phone. It must be working, because they're both xperia models. Here, you can give it a try here, it's very simple:

Hello,
Guys as we all know XL internal and device memory isn't that large enough to store big games and larger app sizes...and whatever we receive via bluetooth or download goes into internal and eats up space i have tried gl2sd app and it works to transfer data of games to sd by duplicating folders but the associated files remain in internal memory and this app only works for new apps or selected apps only so guys do you have any idea about app that moves everthing to sd card? ( i really miss my gb days )
Please help suggestions are appreciated
Thanks in advance

Interesting people are using General for Question and answer.
Have you tried Link2SD?
This allows you to have new applications automatically installed on the TFcard.
It also allows you to manually move existing application data and libraries onto the TFcard too.
You do need to create a second partition on the TFcard and normally this is easy enough to do, but the XPERIA L is having a few TFcard problems and may not support a complex TFcard setup.
I normally create a 2GB partition for Link2SD to use, but many large game applications may require more..
The benefit Link2SD brings to the table is that the 2nd partition is still available to the system when you have your phone connected to a PC via USB.

I have created two partition on my sd card with Mini Tool. Fat32 and ext4. Both of them is primary. link2sd has root permission. But, link2sd does not found ext4 partition. What should I do?
Edit: Ok. Then I formatted sd card by phone. Because of this, link2sd haven't found it. I cannot use sd card If I do not format by phone. So, how can I create partition?
I have just installed Alien Rom V5 on my ST26. The app looks great and is very fast.
Can anyone tell me if I can link apps to an ext4 partition on my SD card using Link2SD?
I have tried doing this, but apps keep closing.

as i know in this AlienRom, the SD card (external) is swapped into internal SD card so you dont have to link coz all install apps go to external which is now read by the system as internal.....(correct me if im wrong )

I'm aware of the external SD / internal SD swap, but I think apps are still being installed to the internal memory (not the internal SD).
Before switching to AlienRom I was using gavster's AVD Rom and Link2SD installed every app to the ext4 partition on my external SD.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to prevent apps installing to the phone memory? I have a number of phone only apps which have filled the phone memory and are preventing some app updates and the installation of larger new apps.
Link2SD with an ext4 partition worked so well on the AVD Dark Moon Rom.

why don't you just edit vold.fstab :silly:
I thought vold.fstab only switches between external SD and internal SD. The Rom already does this.
Can vold.fstab be edited to prevent apps saving to the phone memory?

Hi, is it possible to swap the internal sd card with an external one? I have a rooted Sony Xperia J with locked bootloader. It is running Jelly Bean. I have a SanDisk Micro SD. Help?
How do I do it?
doperthancoke said:
Yes it is possible. But I recommend you not do that because it is quite dangerous, as it might hardbrick your phone.

Ok, thanks for the fast reply. So, how do I go around doing it?
Ok, but...
doperthancoke said:
Well.... The thing is, you'll be fine as long as you dont mess up. But its very easy to mess up. For example: if you wipe internal storage while using the mod, your phone is hardbricked. Another note: Various users have ran into problems while swapping internal and external sd (disappearing, corrupted apps, and your phone and apps might become sluggish if your sd card read/write speed is not fast enough,etc....).
There's a way around this, but its not quite the same thing. If you have large apps that store its data on internal sd (examples: games like Asphalt or large dictionaries), you can use apps such as "FolderMount" or "GL2sd" to move the apps' data to external sd and link it to internal sd (You're fooling the system into thinking that the data is in the internal sd, when its actually in the external sd). Of course, by using this method, you will not actually be swapping external sd with internal sd. And the apps are not moved, just the DATA of the apps.
If you don't care about the risks and the method I suggested above isn't good enough for you, and you still want to do it, search "vold.fstab swap external sd and internal sd xperia j" on the forum.
(Don't say I did not warn you!)

Ok, I kinda screwed up. I did what they told me to, but when I rebooted my phone, my external SDcard was not mounted and my internal one was un-mounted! Hence, I have access only to the apps in my phone storage... I did a backup and tried to flash the stock firmware but Flashtool told me that a folder could not be found and flashing failed... I still can use my phone, but alot of apps are gone. ;_; I can't even access Whatsapp! Any advice? Also, I do not have access to Root Explorer, and when I plug in my phone to my computer, 1 error message comes out: The process android.process.media has stopped. Any help? Plus, are there any good suggestions for common and cheap smartphones? Thanks for helping!
