Hello,
Guys as we all know XL internal and device memory isn't that large enough to store big games and larger app sizes...and whatever we receive via bluetooth or download goes into internal and eats up space i have tried gl2sd app and it works to transfer data of games to sd by duplicating folders but the associated files remain in internal memory and this app only works for new apps or selected apps only so guys do you have any idea about app that moves everthing to sd card? ( i really miss my gb days )
Please help suggestions are appreciated
Thanks in advance

Interesting people are using General for Question and answer.
Have you tried Link2SD?
This allows you to have new applications automatically installed on the TFcard.
It also allows you to manually move existing application data and libraries onto the TFcard too.
You do need to create a second partition on the TFcard and normally this is easy enough to do, but the XPERIA L is having a few TFcard problems and may not support a complex TFcard setup.
I normally create a 2GB partition for Link2SD to use, but many large game applications may require more..
The benefit Link2SD brings to the table is that the 2nd partition is still available to the system when you have your phone connected to a PC via USB.

I have created two partition on my sd card with Mini Tool. Fat32 and ext4. Both of them is primary. link2sd has root permission. But, link2sd does not found ext4 partition. What should I do?
Edit: Ok. Then I formatted sd card by phone. Because of this, link2sd haven't found it. I cannot use sd card If I do not format by phone. So, how can I create partition?

My xperia tipo says that my total internal memory is 2.15gb. It also says that I have 1.40gb left. However, when I calculated the size of the folder 'sd card', which is my internal memory, using es file explorer, it is only 150mb big. What is going on? Where's the other 550mb?
Android system takes 200mb of memory also maybe when you installed/unistalled program phone didn't delete whole data. Try doing factory reset and beware you will lose all data. Backup them.

Here's where I found what I was looking for, but this thread is for the xperia tipo. I'm not sure If it could work on your phone. It must be working, because they're both xperia models. Here, you can give it a try here, it's very simple:

Pls can anybody tell if there is any way to install apps on external sd card????
As all mine apps are going to internal memory and it's running out....so pls help

There are 2 ways first: navigate /settins/apps then select an app that can be moved to sd then select move to sd card.this is called native apps2sd which just moves the bacic app files.
Second: partition your sdcard with partition wizard choose what size to make the second partition and format it as ext4. Then down load link2sd app from play store then open it a popup message will appear choose ext4 then if you have done everything right then it will say "mount scripts created please reboot your device to mount the second partition" then there you go extra memory for your apps if you go back to link2sd press menu then multi select then choose which apps you want to move then press actions then create link then the apps will be moved to the second partition. and from settings you can choose auto link which will auto link newly installed apps. This is the best as it moves all app data files to the second partition which leaves you system memory free and fast.
Make sure you backup your sdcard to your pc before you try the second option as it might erase all your data i am not responsible for any loss of your data every thing you try on XDA is by your own choice and at your own risk!!
Ive got a better idea for you. Just do vold.fstab trick and youll get bigger internal mem. You can even use your 32gb microsd as internal and do link2sd to the microsd at the same time.

And do link 2 SD method works without root???

Both needs root. For vold.fstab, you just need to mod the text inside the file. Need easy root method? Try unlockroot.

Use this. https://www.dropbox.com/s/f77twwjxhimocxv/ishuaji_root_sj.exe Its a chinese rootnig app. Just click the big green button. Install ADB Drivers first. Search universal adb driver. Then click next button (the layout will be>>previous, next, cancel) like the usual installer. I just used this against a hard to root Alcatel One Touch Glory 2S 4010x and able to get root.

i have 16gb sd....so i want to swap it....can you tech me how to swap?
No, that is for system. Check your storage menu, you only have internal (the 150mb one) and the 16gb microsd only. If you really want swap, check darktremor app2sd, but there are lots of work to do, and its kinda hard to do it on mtk phones (this alcatel is mtk). If you pick link2sd, its much safer. Just need to partition sd card into 2 (fat32 + ext2).

try mine...
replace your vold.fstab then reboot...
do backup your original one before use this...
ps: you need sdcard with class6 or more (class 10 would be better)
and don't worry about your ext2 partition, it's works as well...
enjoy...

Hi those who face less memory problem u can use ur ext_sdcard(memory card) as internal memory and internal memory as ext_sd card
just replace the attached files in root /system/etc
vold.7z(for stock rom)
For those who use cm10 replace this file vold.rar
dont forget to reboot after replacing
how to do it manually?
Hi developers! I just bought new SD card, but then i realise that i can`t install apps on SD card. I wonder, is there is a way to do it?
I think the only way is by rooting your phone

First of all you need to partition your sd card to ext2 partition (primary) and fat32 partition (primary) and download app named link2sd from play store, then you can create link for data directories for the movable apps. App2sd.sh script is not suppprted on stock rom, I am porting app2sd suppprt for core and the work is in progress

Another way to install apps on sd. HERE
I have just installed Alien Rom V5 on my ST26. The app looks great and is very fast.
Can anyone tell me if I can link apps to an ext4 partition on my SD card using Link2SD?
I have tried doing this, but apps keep closing.

as i know in this AlienRom, the SD card (external) is swapped into internal SD card so you dont have to link coz all install apps go to external which is now read by the system as internal.....(correct me if im wrong )

I'm aware of the external SD / internal SD swap, but I think apps are still being installed to the internal memory (not the internal SD).
Before switching to AlienRom I was using gavster's AVD Rom and Link2SD installed every app to the ext4 partition on my external SD.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to prevent apps installing to the phone memory? I have a number of phone only apps which have filled the phone memory and are preventing some app updates and the installation of larger new apps.
Link2SD with an ext4 partition worked so well on the AVD Dark Moon Rom.

why don't you just edit vold.fstab :silly:
I thought vold.fstab only switches between external SD and internal SD. The Rom already does this.
Can vold.fstab be edited to prevent apps saving to the phone memory?

Hello, anyone had success with Link2SD / FolderMount / or any Apps2SD apps? I'm running out of storage space due to heavy games like FF IX, trying to play around with Link2SD and Apps2SD but I'm not having any luck so far, afraid I might corrupt my sdcard with ongoing repartitioning (over and over), any guide that works for our phone would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ive been using Link2SD for quite some time and it works... I did manage to link apps and heavy games to sdext2... Just be sure you have a good sd card to work with...

Well I'm not a pro but I'm sure that it's not only the sdcard which makes Link2SD working . Think that the Firmware is the problem, because on my device Link2SD doesn't work either . I'm running a rooted Sony Xperia Z5 Dual E6633 with Android Nougat and neither Link2SD nor Apps2SD is working.
1st Issue:
If the System recognizes a second (primary) partition after the fist partition you'll get a message which sais that your SDcard is damaged and needs to be formatted
2nd Issue:
Link2SD/Apps2SD cannot access the second partition .... even if it's there. You'll always get some error messages
FolderMount works for me on my device. Think it's because I do not try to link the folders to the second partition on my sdcard. I do link some stuff from the internal storage to the first partition of my sdcard
