Hi,
I got my gear 2 this morning and was looking to use it with my Sony Z. I found this app in the market ' Gear 2 Superfix ' . After installing the app it connected perfectly. Nearly everything works apart for weather and a couple more things.
There is an update for the gear manager (2.14041404) but am unable to install that yet.
Also in my gear manager i dont have Samsung Apps iether.
Anyway on the whole im happy it works on my not rooted sony z.
I'd be pleased to here from anyone who als uses this app. It cost 7 euros.
Regards Ant

I think he means GEAR 2 SUPERFIXER (air.creatix.neoguide in Google Play Store), created by CREATIX DIGITAL.
It's currently listed at $8.99.

Also check "Fit SuperFixer" for samsung gear fit.
Simply use the Fix button and you will get simple patches and instructions on how to fix your connection, the app detecs your phone model and checks for compatibility, some device may not be supported, but most of them work flawlessly. It's promising to know that there are options if I choose not to get a Samsung phone down the line.
Real advantages?
If anyone played with this app, could you, please, post if this app has any real advantages over the free methods, specifically in the following areas that have not been working otherwise:
Weather
SMS, Email and Phone Call history browsing (I'm not talking about notifications, I'm talking about browsing previous text messages, emails and phone call history, please, be specific about it)
SMS and Email composition using S Voice
Receiving phone alarms on the watch
Fitness apps requiring GPS support (biking and hiking)
Also, the screenshot included with the app on Google Play suggests it has a way of rooting the Gear 2 (not the original Gear!) watch. Is it really the case?
I can't make it work with Samsung Note 8.0

I bought it and installed on Note 8.0 GT-N5100, I am able to establish the Bluetooth connection with Gear 2, I can sync the Address book and call out form Gear 2.
But in the Gear Manager, it only shown paired and I can't connect it. so I can't do or configure anything.
No need to purchase this app for the Note 8.0. The Note 8.0 with KK is fully compatible with Gear 2 (you just need to sideload Gear Manager). The only thing that does not work is the gear samsung app store access, but superfixer does nit fix that either...

Decided to take one for the team and test it. It seems to just have you download a slightly different version of Samsung's Gear Manager. But when I go to pair the device with it on my Galaxy S4 it just stalls out at connecting. (it could possibly be working idk) I will post screen shots of the software and what has you download. It might simply be my cyanogen 10.2.1 preventing it from working. Upgrading to cyanogen 11 to test.

On my former phone the HTC one X I could use it with a rom.
The thl 5000 has android 4.4.2 and bluetooth 4.0 so why can I not use the gear.
Has somebody an idea maybe Superfixer.
Thank you

Over at TizenExpect they mentioned that Australia got a gear manager update that removes the notification problem. Anyone with a Sammy device (I don't have one) care to go through those steps and post the APK?
http://www.tizenexperts.com/2014/04...y-note-3-not-working-with-samsung-gear-2-neo/
Mate, I'm in Australia, just came back from a Telstra store. They had a pair of S5 and Gear 2 on display for everyone to play. So I went into Samsung App store on the S5 and downloaded the latest version of Gear Manager (being on Telstra network, it should have brought the Australian version of it). The app version was 2.0.14041404 and it was dated Apr 18th, which seems to be identical to the latest listed here. I've already tried this one in the past and it didn't work with my One M8, throwing "Parsing Error" after trying to connect it to my Gear 2 Neo. So I doubt it would cure your troubles, but you're welcome to give it a go (if you haven't done that already).
I was also interested to see how the overall experience of Gear 2 looks like on proper Sammy devices compared to what I've already seen on my One M8. After installing the Gear Manager on the S5, I reset the Gear 2 and connected them afresh. The additional software installation was handled silently (no pop-ups), unlike the way it was done on my One M8. After the connection was accomplished, I spotted 2 additional tabs in the Gear Manager (S-Health and Samsung Apps). Under S Health, you can set up the way steps/HR/sleep info is synched with S-Health app on the phone. Under Samsung Apps, you can download additional apps to the Gear.
The most interesting was to see the differences under Notifications settings. There are 3 sections for different kinds of notifications there on my One M8:
Instant alerts for Gear. This one has only "Incoming call" listed on my M8, but on S5 it has also "Alarms" and "Messages" listed
Notifications for Gear apps. This one is populated after you install some 3rd party apps for the Gear.
More notifications: everything else. By marking "Gmail", "Messages" and "Mail", I made notifications from those appear with my M8 setup. But this is just a workaround and, in any case, it doesn't work with Alarms.
On S5, there is an additional section, "Notifications from Samsung applications", which is where Email, for example, appears. I guess this is the proper way of setting it up on a proper Samsung device.
Overall, my impression is we're missing out way too much trying to use Gear 2 with non-Samsung devices. As much as I like my One M8, this makes me think of ditching it for an S5...

I sadly don't have that option. So as much as I'd love to convert over to the S5 and have this work beautifully with it, I have to keep working on it from my side.
I also receieve the parsing error and have yet to figure out a solution, maybe it's a response from Samsung to stop all of us non Sammy users. Either way, I'm sure the wonderful minds on here will figure something out.
So, I've recently received a Galaxy Gear 2 for my birthday, and I've read up on it. It seems as if the app selection is very, very small. However, I had my eyes set on one particular app: RunKeeper. I got my hopes up after reading an article on RunKeeper's website about its integration with gear. However, after connecting it with my S4, I scoured the gear appstore for RunKeeper, however I could only find Runtastic, which I definitely DO NOT want to switch to. Does anyone know how to download runkeeper to my gear? I do not want to have to run with my phone in my pocket.

Easy, just update the tizen into Android and then install Runkeeper - simple: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-2/help/qa-porting-android-to-gear-2-t3018159
EDIT: install the android wear first, then google fit and only after that, runkeeper. Just tested it out.
Does someone of you has the Nike+ app running on his watch?
I'm not able to get the app working with the gear s3, just as stand alone on the phone.
Many thanks for you help.

Afraid it was pulled a while ago. Not available on the S2 either. Unless you manually install an older version. There is a guide somewhere on here I think under the S2 section.
They pulled it I guess due to the tie in with Apple Nike+ Watch
Longun,
many thanks. Can you recommend any other running app available for the gear s3?

I'm afraid not. At the moment I'm stuck with S Health syncing to Strava, but only when it fancies it as sometimes it doesn't upload my runs.

This is a game changer for me. Was starting to question this devices ability as a running watch. If Nike+ comes it at least gives it a little more credibility. Ok it'll never be as good as a dedicated running watch but S Health is so bad its untrue.
Still no update from nike....
That's unfortunate. Hope they fulfill their promise soon....
I contacted them again just before Christmas. They confirmed to me it was coming back as well but no ETA. At least it looks promising.

Hi Joseph,
Thanks for being a part of the Nike+ Community! It's a great platform for tracking your running performance. I understand that you would like to be able to use the Nike+ Run Club app for Android with your Samsung Gear S3. Allow me to assist you.
Joseph, as of our recent update, the Nike+ Run Club app is not available on the Samsung Gear S devices. However, we have heard your feedback and are planning on bringing it back in the future. At this point, our development team has not offered any specific time frames for this deployment. For now, you can continue to track your runs using the Nike+ Run Club app on your Android device.
Please let me know, if you have any further questions or comments. I will be happy to help you.

S-health results to Nike+
I have discovered a way to sync S-health results to Nike+ so you don't need to have the nike plus app on your wrist.
Requirements:
1. Nike Run account.
2. Garmin connect account.
3. S-health app.
4. Gear S3 (if you really want to leave you phone while you're running).
5. Internet connection (lol).
Steps :
1. Nike Run Club has a partnership with Garmin Connect. You can go to partnership in NRC to connect your Nike to Garmin Connect.
2. In S-health app, you can export your run to .gpx which can be imported to your Garmin Connect. So after you have completed your run, it will be recorded in S-health (after the data from Gear S3 synced). Then, export it to .gpx.
3. Login to garmin.connect.com (please request the desktop version), and after that you can find '+' icon on top right corner and select 'import'. Then import your .gpx file.
4. Open Nike Run Club app and refresh the activity, your run data should be there (synced).
It might seem complicated but I find it easy and simple. At least we have a workaround to stay in Nike Run Club with data come from the gear.
Hope this diagram helps in understanding how it works :
S-health-----GPX import to---->Garmin Connect<------Synced to------NRC

Still not available on the gear app store.
Where can I get the Nike app for direct download? Surely the old app could be made to work on the Gear S3?
Still nothing?
It does not feel like its coming.
Hitherto only the WearOS version was released and is available for download...

hi
i have just bought a S3 and i paired it with my iPhone 7
it's works pretty fine but i miss mail, reply to sms and so on.
so i looked into the app store and there are nearly Nothing in there..
i tried to connect the Watch to the honor 7 of my gf and there i can get much more apps!! like working hue apps, email, more faces and so on.
how can i get all this app from iPhone? and why the store is different? the device is the gear and not the phone !
i tried to download it from the honor then reconnect it to my iPhone but it restores the Watch before pairing and i don't know why but apps i downloaded from the honor doesn't appear in the "my apps" section on the galaxy app store from the iPhone
any idea how to solve this problem?
thanks
This problem cannot be solved from your side.
The problems are:
1. Some apps require a companion app, which only available on Android, in order to work. iOS will probably not have these as Samsung does not provide any SDK for devs to work on.
2. Samsung use manual filter for apps. A filter is like this: Gear S3 & iOS devices, S7 Edge & S3 BT and so on. If apps do not include this filter, they won't show up on your device. You can ask devs to include this filter if the apps are standalone.

Beta is over; final product is available in the galaxy store.

Hello everyone,
This is the announcement of our new Gear (Galaxy) watch app. It is basically a full-featured voice assistant using Amazon Alexa voice service running on your watch.
Today, we will be starting a closed beta and hopefully if we can solve all issues, the app will be released in 10-15 days.
The application consists of a GUI on the watch and a companion app which should run on the Android phone. (only Android , no IOS unfortunately)
The Android companion app is released at:
Alexa Gear
Without the watch app, the companion Android application is useless.
We have a few known issues, and before a full release including watch side application, we would like to identify and solve all issues.. That's the reason of this closed beta.
The app supports following Samsung Watches:
Samsung Gear S2
Samsung Gear S3
Samsung Gear Sport
Samsung Galaxy Watch
If you are interested in beta testing, please see below notes for beta testers, and provide your information in the form of following example by sending an email to mrmrmrmr(at)gmail.com
Email Subject: Application for AlexaGear Beta Test
Email body:
Name: John Smith
Email: [email protected] (your email address used to login for Samsung Galaxy/Gear App Store)
Phone Brand/Model: Samsung Note 9
Watch Model: Samsung Gear S3
Phone OS: Android 8.0
Notes for beta testers:
Beta application will be open from now on and will be closed when we believe all required type of users are selected.
Applying for the beta does not guarantee that you will be selected as a beta user. We would like to keep the beta group small with enough sample of various watch/phone models.
Beta process may continue untill the application is released.
Beta download link will be provided to selected users starting later today.
Notes about the current state of the application - also important for beta attendees:
The app is not fully released and this is a closed beta. It may cause application force-close on your phone.
The debug version of the app may cause high battery usage on your phone since it is not optimized.
You may have to install Amazon's official "Amazon Shopping" application on your phone to login, if it is not already installed.
The current version of the app outputs the voice response from Alexa on your phone and not your watch. Voice response will be sent to watch in a later release.
We expect from beta users to share their experience in the form of following only. All other communication attempts may be missed (i.e. different mail subject or wrong form of mail body);

UPDATE : Login problem is solved ; now we don't need Amazon Shopping to login.
Looks good on the video, I assume you're using the Alexa API directly (hence the Amazon Shopping log in)? And it looks like you're sending recorded audio to the phone, not STT?
I'd offer to join your beta, but I don't use Alexa anymore
Edit: Just letting you know your Play badge isn't linked to your store listing...

You are correct. application is using Alexa API directly. Amazon Shopping shouldn't be required for the final release. App should be able to login using Alexa authorization. We are going to fix it before release, hopefully.
Thanks for informing me about the badge issue. It was originally linked to the Play Store listing but the image tag overwrites it. I changed to plain text instead of badge now...
Hi there, I've been after something genious like this for Google Assistant or Alexa but just sold my Echo Dot!
With your app are we able to ask Alexa questions and receive answers on the watch or does it simply route the question to the Echo Device?
Great work either way..

OK, great I've installed both and tested a small amount, this will be amazing if you can get answers on the Galaxy Watch. Couple of things if I may.
1 - When asking for location based queries it can't answer, says I need to add to Alexa App (Not installed)
2- Says Spotify and Google maps not supported on this device when asking for them.
3 - App closes intermittently on Galaxy Watch when screen closes (15 seconds on mine)
I'll give it a good go later when children are asleep and report back.. So far though seems very good
Is possible to have this app in spanish?
final version in action....

- response will be sent to watch in 2 weeks. I know what I have to do, but it is planned for second phase. Priority is to make a release with no major problems.
- for location, timezone and metric units settings you have to use Alexa app or https://alexa.amazon.com settings page.
- Spotify and Google maps are not supported on Android applications by Amazon. I am sorry but this is not possible.
- What happens when app closes ? Do you see any errors ? What happens if you reopen it ? Does it work normally ?
Thanks.
