Over at TizenExpect they mentioned that Australia got a gear manager update that removes the notification problem. Anyone with a Sammy device (I don't have one) care to go through those steps and post the APK?
http://www.tizenexperts.com/2014/04...y-note-3-not-working-with-samsung-gear-2-neo/
Mate, I'm in Australia, just came back from a Telstra store. They had a pair of S5 and Gear 2 on display for everyone to play. So I went into Samsung App store on the S5 and downloaded the latest version of Gear Manager (being on Telstra network, it should have brought the Australian version of it). The app version was 2.0.14041404 and it was dated Apr 18th, which seems to be identical to the latest listed here. I've already tried this one in the past and it didn't work with my One M8, throwing "Parsing Error" after trying to connect it to my Gear 2 Neo. So I doubt it would cure your troubles, but you're welcome to give it a go (if you haven't done that already).
I was also interested to see how the overall experience of Gear 2 looks like on proper Sammy devices compared to what I've already seen on my One M8. After installing the Gear Manager on the S5, I reset the Gear 2 and connected them afresh. The additional software installation was handled silently (no pop-ups), unlike the way it was done on my One M8. After the connection was accomplished, I spotted 2 additional tabs in the Gear Manager (S-Health and Samsung Apps). Under S Health, you can set up the way steps/HR/sleep info is synched with S-Health app on the phone. Under Samsung Apps, you can download additional apps to the Gear.
The most interesting was to see the differences under Notifications settings. There are 3 sections for different kinds of notifications there on my One M8:
Instant alerts for Gear. This one has only "Incoming call" listed on my M8, but on S5 it has also "Alarms" and "Messages" listed
Notifications for Gear apps. This one is populated after you install some 3rd party apps for the Gear.
More notifications: everything else. By marking "Gmail", "Messages" and "Mail", I made notifications from those appear with my M8 setup. But this is just a workaround and, in any case, it doesn't work with Alarms.
On S5, there is an additional section, "Notifications from Samsung applications", which is where Email, for example, appears. I guess this is the proper way of setting it up on a proper Samsung device.
Overall, my impression is we're missing out way too much trying to use Gear 2 with non-Samsung devices. As much as I like my One M8, this makes me think of ditching it for an S5...

I sadly don't have that option. So as much as I'd love to convert over to the S5 and have this work beautifully with it, I have to keep working on it from my side.
I also receieve the parsing error and have yet to figure out a solution, maybe it's a response from Samsung to stop all of us non Sammy users. Either way, I'm sure the wonderful minds on here will figure something out.

It's promising to know that there are options if I choose not to get a Samsung phone down the line.
Real advantages?
If anyone played with this app, could you, please, post if this app has any real advantages over the free methods, specifically in the following areas that have not been working otherwise:
Weather
SMS, Email and Phone Call history browsing (I'm not talking about notifications, I'm talking about browsing previous text messages, emails and phone call history, please, be specific about it)
SMS and Email composition using S Voice
Receiving phone alarms on the watch
Fitness apps requiring GPS support (biking and hiking)
Also, the screenshot included with the app on Google Play suggests it has a way of rooting the Gear 2 (not the original Gear!) watch. Is it really the case?
I can't make it work with Samsung Note 8.0

I bought it and installed on Note 8.0 GT-N5100, I am able to establish the Bluetooth connection with Gear 2, I can sync the Address book and call out form Gear 2.
But in the Gear Manager, it only shown paired and I can't connect it. so I can't do or configure anything.
No need to purchase this app for the Note 8.0. The Note 8.0 with KK is fully compatible with Gear 2 (you just need to sideload Gear Manager). The only thing that does not work is the gear samsung app store access, but superfixer does nit fix that either...

Decided to take one for the team and test it. It seems to just have you download a slightly different version of Samsung's Gear Manager. But when I go to pair the device with it on my Galaxy S4 it just stalls out at connecting. (it could possibly be working idk) I will post screen shots of the software and what has you download. It might simply be my cyanogen 10.2.1 preventing it from working. Upgrading to cyanogen 11 to test.

Got the same problem, with HTC One M9 + Gear s2...
The reason is, that the Samsung App Store has an own payment method instead of goole play store's method...
At the moment, you cant pay for samsung app on a non-samsung device, so it doesnt listing the paid apps, only the free ones...
BUT: today, i've signed in with my accounnt on a samsung mobile device (galaxy 24 mini), paired my watch, paid some apps, installed it.
when i have paired it back again with my M9, the installed apps disappeared (soft reset when pairing a deivce), and the apps that i paid on a samsung device, still doesnt appears on the M9 store
Just an idea, tried it out, but doesnt work
is there any way, to save the app from the watch (when i bought is, and installed it from a samsung device), and re install it (with the saved installer) from the non-samsung device?

I imagine there are technical problems for Samsung to make paid apps open to all, but it can't be an insurmountable problem, and it would be good for consumers and developers if they opened the paid apps to non-Samsung phones. Samsung is a giant corporation and so not particularly easy to contact or persuade, but I wonder if developers started a petition that might help persuade Samsung to fix this situation.
I've got a oneplus one - just wondering if they're are any worthwhile paid apps that I'm missing out on?

It mainly depends on what you want to do with your watch. I bought the app My Notes in Gear. It let's you create notes and task lists on your phone and sync these with your watch. I am also using komoot which is a free app but didn't show in the Gear store with a non Samsung phone. For me it was reason enough to switch the phone...
I am not hundred percent sure. I was having the same issue (not a big deal as I also had a Samsung phone, so I switched). When utilizing a Samsung phone, there are way more free applications and the paid applications are accessible too. Also, I believe the store has a slightly different layout.
I read somewhere that said someone contacted Samsung. They replied saying that they were working on a fix, but the reason was that they weren't able to accept payments (or some other payment issue) on non-Samsung devices.
I am sure it will be fixed soon. Hold tight!
If I connect my gear s2 to a Samsung phone to get access to paid apps and watchfaces and download them to the watch will they still be there when I switch back to my non Samsung phone?
I'm mainly talking about watch faces at this time. It seems like all the good digital ones are hidden to me now.
And maybe ultimately a good thing, but with the most recent Gear app update (for your phone), the layout of the app changed, and I noticed a recommended app at the bottom that wouldn't install. I suspect this app (can't recall which one) was an app that Samsung phone users can install, and the rest of us can't. My theory is this was either an outright error, or may portend non-Samsung phone users eventually getting access to at least more apps, if not paid apps.

no, i've tried this solution.
if you pairing the watch to other device, every time you need to soft reset is (than the installed apps is gone). :crying:
Hi all,
I hope some one can advise in my question:
I can't find some applications in Samsung Gear Apps store, i 100% shure that such applications exist and available for gear s2 (for example Sleep As Android addon)
I suppose it's some restrictions for smartphone type - i use Meizu pro 5, while guys with samsung smartphones easelly can find and install it.
Maybe there is some way to make GEar app think that it installed on samsung device ?
Paid apps are not available yet in the Samsung Store for Gear S2 paired with a non-samsung smartphone. There are many threads complaining about it.

Sleep as Android addon is free app.
Paid apps are available for users of non-Samsung phones, as of several months ago (although I guess maybe some countries aren't up to date with this?).
The problem with certain apps not showing up for some people (I still can't download the Uber app, for example) seems to be that when uploading their apps to the store, developers need to activate the listing for every possible combination of phone and wearable - and some combinations, for unexplained reasons, end up being disabled. The developer of Wearable Widgets talks about this in a G+ post here: https://plus.google.com/+SterlingUdell/posts/RbswZqw8KQ5.
It might be worth contacting the developer and letting them know your specific phone and wearable, and asking them to check if they've enabled the app for that combination. If they're unable to because it's disabled by Samsung, we need to wait for Samsung to fix this ridiculous system....

Thanks man, it's explains my issue.

hi
i have just bought a S3 and i paired it with my iPhone 7
it's works pretty fine but i miss mail, reply to sms and so on.
so i looked into the app store and there are nearly Nothing in there..
i tried to connect the Watch to the honor 7 of my gf and there i can get much more apps!! like working hue apps, email, more faces and so on.
how can i get all this app from iPhone? and why the store is different? the device is the gear and not the phone !
i tried to download it from the honor then reconnect it to my iPhone but it restores the Watch before pairing and i don't know why but apps i downloaded from the honor doesn't appear in the "my apps" section on the galaxy app store from the iPhone
any idea how to solve this problem?
thanks
This problem cannot be solved from your side.
The problems are:
1. Some apps require a companion app, which only available on Android, in order to work. iOS will probably not have these as Samsung does not provide any SDK for devs to work on.
2. Samsung use manual filter for apps. A filter is like this: Gear S3 & iOS devices, S7 Edge & S3 BT and so on. If apps do not include this filter, they won't show up on your device. You can ask devs to include this filter if the apps are standalone.

I wanted some new earbuds for the gym that would actually stay in my ears. I watched a lot of reviews on YouTube. I considered Air by crazybaby Nanos till I heard of the connection problems they had with the Micros. Finally I found the 2018 model of the IconXs.
The IconXs aren't going to blow you away, but they are a very good alternative to Airpods. Especially if you want more of a closed ear for passive noise canceling. They also majorly improved the battery life over last year's model. I was also able to buy them for $150 instead of the normal $200, because of Black Friday.
They have one Achilles heel though. The Android app only wants to work on Samsung phones. For other Samsung Gear someone created a modified app, and posted it to XDA. But the support for IconXs is added by a plugin. There is also one for the older model, and one for the newer model. For extra fun the app and the plugins have to be signed with the same key. But since the new 2018 plugin is so new, it hasn't been posted on XDA.
The app makes it easier to pair them with your phone. It lets you remap gestures and taps for control. It lets you load music on the 4gb of internal storage. It lets you control if it mixes in the environment with what is playing.
I am really disappointed in Samsung for locking the app to their phones. They seem to be a good to great hardware company, but seem to not understand software on some level.
I had to download the modified app, and the 2018 IconX plugin. Then I had to sign both on my laptop. Then I uploaded the modified copies to my phone, and installed them. Now it just works!
Instructions:
Download both apks, and sign.jar. Then run "java -jar sign.jar file.apk" once per apk. You will end up with two files with the same names, but with a .s prefixed before apk. Get those on the phone, and install them. You will need "Unknown sources" enabled on your phone.
Using this program to sign them isn't ideal. There are probably better ways to do this.

Resigned Galaxy Gear cannot find the IconX 2018
Hi there.
Thanks for the thread.
I did what you suggested and I was able to install Galaxy Gear. I also installed the resigned iconX 2018 plugin but since it's not an app you can open, I don't really have an indication if it worked or not.
When I open Galaxy Gear, it's not able to find my earbuds even when I have them in my ears (it's not detecting them even though my BT is on).
How did you detect the IconX 2018???
Thanks.
Note: I also tried a resigned Samsung Wearable (the new renamed Gear app) but even resigned, I wasn't able to install it at all (usual error message).
Are you just resigning the app? didn't change any code in the app?
I bought gear iconx today,i have honor note 8 which i really liked, after 1 hour i have managed to work iconx 2018 plug in properly,in order to work this apk you need modified gear iconx apk posted here and you need to download samsung accessory service apk from play store and that's it,now you got fully operating gear apk.
Here is the samsung app
