My big question is, is this possible? Is there anything about the new Windows Phone 7 OS that would keep us from being able to dual boot it on an Android Phone (specifically the Droid X)? I'm never going to switch over to Windows Phone 7, but I wouldn't mind enjoying some of it's features occasionally.
First, I know there are threads for this, but the forum won't let me post there, so I am posting here. I can't find any guides for this and the development threads are not much help.
I've been trying to figure out a way to completely remove Android from a moto droid and replace it with a real Linux distro. I currently have a pair of old Moto Droids that I don't have calling or 3G on anymore (both phones replaced with newer Androids). One is fully working, the other has a messed up touchscreen (displays fine, does not detect finger correctly).
I want Android gone...all the way; not dualboot, not VNC, nothing like that...just like a miniature PC that happens to have an ARM processor.
Can anyone point me at a guide?
Hi there, hopeing i'm not createing a useless thread!
I wanted to ask you guy if the HTC One X and X+ are usable as external storage device via USB in Linux Ubuntu or other Linux distros... because i was thinking about to get one of them but i mainly use my Ubuntu powered netbook when i'm not at home and i couldn't find any information about that while searching this forum and the Internet.
Asking because i had troubles (not solved jet) while trying to do it with an Asus TF300T and a Samsung GSIII.
(hope my english isn't too bad)
I want to learn programming for Android, so I found some online android lollipop development courses.
I got an Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, but it has Android 4.4.2, and I don't want to install some custom firmware, because I still use it for Amazon's video streaming.
I need a Lollipop smartphone.
I thought about Moto G 2nd Gen or LG Leon or Moto E 2nd Gen.
Does it matter, which smartphone to choose? Is it enough to have a low-end smartphone or should it be a high-end gadget? Or, may be, a second hand Nexus 4?
Should it have "vanilla" Android? What kind of features should it have? NFC, may be? HiDPI? How much RAM and ROM?
I want to use it only for testing my apps, not as a primary smartphone. But it must run smoothly.
Thank you

Hello! This is herna from XDA Assist.
Well, since I´m a Recognized Developer in this forum and someone who luckily has been able to get in touch with different devices, I would recommend you to choose the Moto G 2nd Gen. It has gotten a lot of support, and the stock ROM coming for device the device is extremely good.
The Nexus 4 is also a really good option, but knowing it is not new, I would go for the Moto G 2nd Gen. It´s 5-inch, has near Vanilla Android with dozens of ROMs supported, and it runs extremely smooth, as almost all the Motorola devices.
I wish I could help you on choosing the best device for you, and welcome to Android development.
Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but I have a smartphone i wanted to upgrade.
Alcatel A502DL which has Android 8.1 which is like horrendously basic. Was wondering the best process to upgrade. If I got to root it thats fine. I know a bit about computer software, but know very little with actual code programming other than basic copy/paste.
It's a phone I mostly would like to have on Wifi and if I can also get it unlocked (cant unlock from the service provider due to it needing to be on their service for x amount of time) to run it off of a Mint Mobile plan as well.
Looking for the best Android OS, if it can handle Android 11 or if 12 is out that would be great. The phone can be used for testing the new OS. Also got a Samsung Galaxy J3 Achieve that needs unlocked as well (same situation as the Alcatel phone) because I wanted to use that on Mint Mobile as well.
