Been reading about the launch at various sites. Came on here to see if anyone had anything. Have not seen any change in speed on my M8. See on DroidLife that an OTA will be sent to enable it so guess we will be seeing something soon (or so I hope).
I am in Miami Florida hacent notice any change on my HTC m8 data speeds........

Also in Miami, in your zip code - 33055, and I'm getting 35-40ish down/6ish up. What are your speeds like?
In a city slated to have it and nothing great here. 32Mbps down 10Mbps up.
I live near a city slated to get it turned on today but unfortunately I won't be in the area to try it out for a while. Bummer!

Is there supposed to be a new image for XLTE when connected? Or is it the same LTE logo as before?

Anybody have a link to the list of cities getting it ?
Heres the list of city's getting XLTE from Verizon's site

Think my LTE is being piped though a leaky hose. Despite the fact, we're on of the 'lucky ones' my speed nearly broke 4MB down and 1 up today.
Yeah, color me suitably impressed as of right now...

I was getting my normal 5-7 mb in Nw San Antonio earlier, just tested a minute ago though and got 35... We'll see if it is a fluke or not over the next couple of days.
Should XLTE speed be ROM independent? (ie. If I'm running a ROM that is built for multiple carriers and I'm not getting XLTE speeds, could it be the ROM instead of verizon not rolling out yet?)

So I'm on CM7 latest stable, I've updated APNs, and tweaked the build.prop file yet I cannot get above ~300kbps on uploads here in San Jose. Is there anything else I can do to open up that pipe further or are we looking at a local AT&T system throttle still?
Just wondering about other local Inspire users' experiences.

Run the hack kit again(the newest version is super quick), except don't install the stock radio. Instead, install your rom, then install one of the other radios.

I am in San Jose and I get a wide range of speed. My average is about 2.5 down and 1.1-1.2 up.
I'm on using this radio:
12.41.60.19P_26.06.04.14_M
I flashed to that because I put Android Revolution on my phone and that was the recommended radio. The only difference I noted is that I don't get the H+ symbol, only the H symbol. I also get 3G symbol up there where I did not get that on the stock radio.
1.9mb

Galaxy S2 got 42.01mbps (highest) on LTE. Average in the location was 40mbps
HTC inspire 4G got 1.5mbps (highest) on 4G. Average in the same location was 1.2~1.3mbps.
With no radio tweaks at all, I've gotten a max of 1.3 mbps in Sacramento (that was my best by far, usually I get .45mbps). In SF I get an average .45mbps. This is with 3g mind, ATT hasn't gotten around to 4g in my area yet.

Not the same area, but: I was standing outside a T-Mobile store in North Las Vegas and was only getting 3 bars on 2g. haha
Anyhoo. Back on topic. I have gotten really crappy speeds, like you are talking about, when the phone was showing 2-3 bars of 4g.
I have fine reception and speeds here in Bradenton. When I get out east further it will drop 4g and even 3g but the speed always seems consistent with my connection.

Any chance you exceeded your data cap? After you reach your cap they throttle your speeds. The new unlimited everything plan gives you 2gigs of unthrottled data access.

Infact there have been times when my down has been 200kb and my up has been 256kb etc....
its ridiculous.... ohh tried bunch of phones and sim cards... same case
Im in south FL specifically palm beach and if you are north of palm beach gardens 4g is spotty at best. go out west and you are lucky to get on edge.
Havent checked my DL speeds but it seems like its better than my N1 at least.
I'm a little north of Orlando and I get about 6MB down and 1MB up at home (close to I-4). Service is a bit inconsistent with this phone. It was more consistent with my G2 (same speeds).

It completely depends on where you are. I live in Los Angeles and at home I get speeds that are like yours 300kbps down and up, but I was in Chinatown getting 6000kbps down and 3500kbps up.
I'm in Jacksonville, FL. Average around 8500kbps down and 3000kbps up via Tmobile on the G2X. It goes pathetic as hell once you get throttled though (slightly above 72kbps), 2gb/month just isn't enough.
In Jax, getting 6.2 down and .5 up.
In Miami....
In Miami I have found really great service. I have pretty consistent high speeds mostly where ever I go. Download is normally right around 7 Mbps for me and Upload hovers between 1.5Mbps-2Mbps. Not bad. I hardly notice the difference when web browsing whether I'm on Wifi or cell data connection.
Below is a screenshot of some of my results over the last few days. The last one taken this morning is way off. The tower 2 blocks from my house must have gone down. I typically have full bar reception at home and this morning I have no 4g, only Edge. This has happened before, they will likely have it back up in a matter of hours.

The cities included in this initial wave are Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Although users in those metro areas will still have very few LTE devices to choose from. Unlike Verizon, which has multiple LTE handsets, AT&T has no phones compatible with the new network. AT&T launched a data stick and a portable hotspot for the LTE network last month. The carrier has also started selling a massively overpriced Android tablet, the HTC Jetstream.
sweet im in San Antonio for a little while, now for AT&T to get some phones for me to use !!!
Now if they could hurry up and increase the HSPA+ speeds. I'm still only getting 3.5mb download and 1mb upload in downtown Dallas.... iPhone 3gs gets about the same download speed, although only half of the upload speed.
Come to the other side of the Metroplex. Downtown Fort Worth and I am getting 5-7mb down, 1.1-1.3 up. I can't wait for the Holiday with LTE. That will be SO sweet.

As mentioned, you would need a LTE phone first. But, being an hour away from Houston, I wouldn't run out and buy one when they become available. I live in the outskirt of Houston and HSPA+ is non existent at home. In Houston where I work, as posted, I am just now seeing the true benefit of HSPA+. Probably some bottlenecks from ongoing upgrades being freed up, maybe a little congestion as well.

Knowing how AT&T operates, I'd imagine they opened up more bandwidth to the land-based lines to the area first to make sure their LTE debut went well and you're just seeing some of that extra bandwidth.

I'm not as stupid as you. I know when I'm on wifi. Here is the proof.
Here are some from earlier today. The first two were indoors, a large metal building with offices above on the second floor. The first run was bad, only 2800kbps, but I did hit 4916kbps on the second. I then went outdoors and tested a lil slower than yesterday, but not by much, 6485-7767kbps. I know we can't put too much stock in the Speed Test app, but there is some consistency and I'm getting much higher runs than I had been. Also, it seems to be reading my wifi at home with some accuracy.

Show me where I made that statement. I stated that since the LTE launch, my data speeds have suddenly increased and I'm finally seeing true hspa+, and that is a fact. I provided a couple of possible reasons for this, as someone else cited a possibility as well. I know what you saw. You saw the hosted by Comcast in the screenshot. Lol. Anybody with half a brain would know that there would have been a wifi icon in the status bar if I was on wifi. Next time you open your mouth, try not to put your foot in it. Your little signature says it all. Just because you are in a crummy area, doesn't mean it is like that everywheres.
Check my screenshot of prior tests and tell me if you see any improvement compared to yesterday and today. LOL.

I'm good. I just don't appreciate someone implying I'm either stupid or I'm a liar. It certainly isn't inconceivable that while AT&T was building the LTE network here in Houston, they were improving the backhaul for hspa+. Whatever the source of the improvement, I'm thrilled to see true hspa+ speeds. It is something I never expected to see with my Inspire.

I got good 21 mbs a week ago...at home (not on wifi)

Now the real question. Do i really need it? Ive done the test....
20mbs, general browsing and using my phone is great
8mbs, general browsing and using my phone is great
Either way i am happy with the results. It seems most people are just interested in the bragging rights.
Nice speeds, One time when I was at Tampa Airport I got 29.9 Mbs Up. Weird that you were right next to a tower. Maybe its your location, or they have stronger signals near heavy populated areas.
ya i thought for sure it would have switched to hspa the gps sure worked great each tower has a address

Wow, awesome speeds! I have a Tmobile One S that's running a custom EU rom, I think the data bug is stopping it from reaching full 4g speeds because I usually get crap results when I run speedtests. But I'm on wifi 90% of the time anyway. The dev is finally going to get started on his Tmobile version of the rom, so wifi calling will be back! and hopefully great speeds as well
Also did you know that only one word is recognized by the captcha? For the other one, you can type in any random thing and it'll work! The computer generated one that is recognized usually has the black or white blob inside it.
I haven't rooted so I can't take a screenshot. I live in new York and I get 14-19 mbps on a regular basis. It's blazing fast. With their new lte network going online at the end of the year I wonder what speeds will I be getting then.

Try the same places on AT&T and see what you get. I've talked to people who claim they can't carry on a 5 minute conversation without it dropping the call on AT&T. So while T-Mobile may not be the fastest everywhere. It is generally quicker than the iPhone is in the same place which is what the commercial claims. AT&T's LTE is of course faster and so is some of their HSPA+ phones, but not the iPhone. I have been more than happy with T-Mobile in the time I have had them.

Oh, how the times have changed that we are complaining about 26mbps... lol jk
Chicago is a pretty big city so I assume there are others using AT&T LTE. I know where I live (in the middle of nowhere) I get 56mbps because there is literally no one else around me with an LTE capable phone on AT&T.
So it might just have to do with the amount of people using AT&T's network in Chicago. But anyway, yeah it would be good to see other people's speeds from that area.
I for one am dreading the LTE iPhone....
I'm from the suburbs just north of Chicago. Out here I get anywhere from 15-32 mbps (though at my house I only get around 6-8) and in the city I usually get around 10. Sure beats my iPhone on HSPA+ where I couldn't even check my email. AT&T's network sucks in the city. They have good coverage but their backhaul really needs an upgrade.

Try some different APN settings. There are a few different ones around. lemme see if i can find one.. Here is an APN thread. You dont have to worry about messing anything up. the worse thing you can do is be stuck on Edge for the rest of your phones life.. (jk, lol no harm can be done) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042553
I was there 2wks ago and LTE was between 10 and 25mbps both ways. I was mainly in the Irving Park area.
Sent while in DEFCON Brown.
Change the server you are testing with, it isn't your phone that is slow, it is the server you are testing with and how much traffic is on the network when testing. Test at 2-4am on a weekday and your speed will probably nearly double. LTE is theoretically capable of 105mbps/down.

Sure beats my iPhone on HSPA+ where I couldn't even check my email. AT&T's network sucks in the city. They have good coverage but their backhaul really needs an upgrade.
Your phone is fine, enjoy it.

This. This, all of this...except that I'm not from the suburbs. But I've experienced and agree with all points. If the iPhone goes to LTE I'm going to move to Canada.

Wonder if this guy moved to Canada lol?
Seriously, anyone here with an unlocked One X on Tmobile? Were you fortunate enough to be one of the lucky ones to grab 3G/4G speed on Tmobile's network with the One X?
I'm at a crossroad debating if I should trade my unlocked Atrix HD for the One X. Currently I'm getting 9-15MB down/3-7MB up speeds with the Atrix on Tmobile. Would hate to give up this speed & be trapped on Edge again

HA, still here, eating my words. Though the NHL lockout may drive me north to find some good hockey...
But seriously, since the iPhone dropped, i have seen a little decrease in speeds in teh area, though admittedly far less than I anticipated. I live in the city, around Wicker Park/Logan Square/Bucktown, which is hipster-effing-heaven. iPhones border on the official currency around here. Yet, still seeing nearly the same speeds in my area that I did before. In my home, i pull around 11up/11down. but around the neighborhood, I still see speeds range from 10 to over 25mbps up, and almost never below 10 down. I work in the loop, where I can get 15down on the street during a busy workday afternoon. and I even pull 5down on the 24th floor of my 1960's iron-and-concrete fortress office building.
These are all observations i've been making since the iphone 5 came. But when these range a lot. ATT does need to bump it's backhaul a bit. The difference between day and night speeds is, well, day and night. This is to be expected, but you'd like to see that gap close a bit.
As for your question regarding the Atrix HD to One X switch, i wish I could help more. I haven't been following where the One X has gone in terms of connectivity to T-Mo, but I'd be confident that you'd be happy with the HOX over the AtrixHD in terms of it's functionality. I'm sure the MetroPCS merger is going to substantially boost the usefulness of the HOX on TMo, but when that is in effect, I am unsure. Have you done any searches around these forums yet? I know there has been a lot of discussion about this in the past...
