[Q] Sony Xperia Tipo softbrick ? - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I'm new to xda and android modding, in other words: a lame-ass noob. I was quite interested in flashing cyanogenmod on my xperia tipo(under my circumstances I can't really use a pc) I rooted it via a nifty little app called baidu-root tool, as a noob I'm not sure that gives it proper root access, on the cwm ROM manager I tried to flash a recovery on my phone but I failed and gave up. Since I can't use a PC I had to think of a way to unlock my boot loader so I I downloaded the app that soft bricked my tipo: ez unlock. It was too good to be true, so I rebooted and eversince it's been bricked, so I have to unbrick it pronto. I read somewhere that I can get flash tool and relock the boot loader and via PC companion I can hit "repair my phone" and viola it's back to normal... any advice ? Also I can't find the proper s1 fast boot drivers, please help...

Yes you can always restock.. just go to your phone model's development thread and download stock rom for yourself and flash it using pc

you need an unlocked bootloader instructions above
use a laptop on battery when flashing to protect from bootloader errors
if something wrong when flashing bootloader your phone is bricked
you have to use service tools to solve this problem

[Q] Please help, optimus LGL35G

I have LG optimus LGL35G device. I installed CM9 rom, but I found later that the radio is not working with this beta rom. Now I want to switch back to the original rom, however I didn't back up my device and I couldn't find the original rom for this device anywhere.
I also tried to patch the original KDZ file for the optimus L3 e400 (UK version for LGL35G) but I always get an error in the middle of the process.
Now I can access the recovery mode on my device but never the emergency mode, I don't know what buttons should I press to access the emergency mode on my device, I tried all methods mentioned in forums but non worked for me.
I was wondering if any one can provide me with the original gingerbread rom for this device in zip file format so I can patch it using the recovery mode.
Please let me know if there is an alternative solution. detailed instructions will be great since I'm new to this.
Thanks
Solution on its way!!!

Hi, I had a similar problem to the OP and tried out your ROM hoping to get everything working again. It seemed everything was working until I tried GrooveIP -- instant force close. Same with volume-boosting programs that worked in my default ROM. Unfortunately, I didn't back up my stock ROM before trying out other ones. Any hope of a stock ROM with all of the trimmings still intact?

[Q] help with flashing ICS ....PLEASE?

I am stuck on the following screen. my device is P920 and am Gingerbread firmware and want to upgrade to ICS so i can install ICS ROMS.... OMAP4430 won't pop up AT ALL and I am reallly stuck
someone, anyone, PLEASE help :/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195753
Sign onto pc as admin. You will need to delete LG stuff on your pc before starting. Turn off antivirus temporarily to extract some files; Defender in particular may delete certain driver files and not tell you.
thanks.
But after I did something stupid :/
I flashed another ROM and now i have i get a security error and i can't even use flash tool :/
HELP PLEASE.
it's my sisters phone. she would kill me haha
Just reflash firmware by LG Flash Tool. It will rewrite everything. What do you mean you can't use it?
---------- Post added at 12:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:04 AM ----------
Some ROMs require custom bootloader; normally the cause of security error.
---------- Post added at 12:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:05 AM ----------
You must be on ICS to flash that custom ROM; you can't just install it over GB. That is what the tutorial is for...to install ICS and then the ROM.
Multiple posts are due to xda app being goofy. Can't edit a post. Dunno what is up.
I connect it by pulling battery and holding volume up and it just keeps connecting and disconnecting. It did this when I used your guide but everything turned out OK following your thread you sent me earlier. But I decided to try a different ROM (I guess just because I could) and then I got security error. -_- when I try lgflashtool is just says ready and doesn't pick up my device. Tried restarting PC ect.

AHA I think the main big problem is that the LGE mobile USB serial port is not detected/installed! Anyway to get this installed cause I can't boot up the phone?
If you had read and followed my guide you would already have it.

[Q] AT&T S5 (G900A) Soft-Bricked / Freezes on Boot Logo using any ROM

I'd appreciate any help to get my phone working again. I've only had it for a couple of weeks and I'm hoping I haven't completely ruined it...
I'll try to recall the exact steps I took to get to this point:
First, towelroot wouldn't work to get root due to me accepting the OTA update to 4.4.4 android. So I found on a forum post that you can use Odin to flash the stock kernel and then towelroot will work. So I downloaded the stock kernel and flashed it successfully using Odin. Towelroot was then able to work with success. After that I installed SuperSU and busybox. Then I was using this guide (URL omitted due to forum rules) to install SafeStrap recovery as I'd read CWM recovery didn't work for the G900A model (AT&T). Safestrap seemed to install OK and when I rebooted I was able to get into the SafeStrap software interface. From there, I attempted to flash the CM12 nightly build to the "stock rom" slot (I'd read there was some trouble using the non-stock-rom slots in SafeStrap). That operation completed with success, but when I tried to reboot, it froze at the CM12 splash screen. I tried this with a few more custom ROMS and they all do the same thing (freeze up on boot logo / splash screen).
I've tried using Odin to flash back the stock firmware. As long as I didn't try to flash the bootloader (BL) Odin shows "PASS". However, when it reboots it again hangs on the Samsung splash screen.
So at this point, I've flashed all stock firmware to the phone (except BL) and it freezes and then goes black screen on the Samsung splash screen. Also, it no longer shows the SafeStrap "recovery / continue" bootup screen since I flashed the stock firmware.
Any ideas on how I can get back to a useable device?...

"odindownload.com" will install a LOT of MALWARE (270MB) but NOT ODIN!!!!!!!!!!
Download ODIN (1MB) HERE
Original stock firmware (safe and tested) can be downloaded HERE
Connect your phone in "DOWNLOAD" mode (Power off and then press "Vol down + home + power" at the same time)
Open "ODIN" and select the downloaded firmware as "AP"
Press start (Progress will take about 10 minutes)
Phone will be fine again

Googled the error. Solution is to flash the firmware with PIT file. Only problem is that someone has to give you a working pit file.

I'm still stuck... I'm just looking to get back to a usable device. I really don't care if it's a stock or custom rom at this point. Any help is appreciated.
I tried flashing with the full firmware package I downloaded (4.4.2 G900A stock firmware) which included a *.pit file inside one of the tarballs. I used the PIT/re-partition option and everything succeeded except it still freezes at the Samsung boot logo.

This is a symptom you flashed the wrong version of the kernel for your phone/Android version or did not flash your caches.
Make super sure that you get the right kernel for your model and if you are still on Marshmallow use the latest (might be v5) kernel for that Android version.
Wipe your caches after flashing the kernel. An offer after every flash in TWRP. I skip this only in case of minor updates.
