Hi all,
I have been looking on how to create a bookmark in the Start Menu of Windows Mobile 6.5.1 that launches the Opera browser to go to a specific website but I have no idea what to do!
Try this way.
In any text editor program, make a new empty txt file , paste the full url address into it (for example, http://forum.Xda-developers.com/), count how many characters those are(in this case it's 32 characters), then insert "xx#" infront of it, use a quote mark on the on the url, xx=number of url characters+2,then the text read as: 34#"http://forum.xda-developers.com/" , save it in this way:
file type: All files
code: ASCII
Filename: Xda.lnk or whatever.lnk
Now you got the shortcut (.lnk)file, you can copy it to \Windows\Start
Menu\Programs\ folder, it will showup in the start menu. If you click on it, it will launch the default browser to go to the url.
Tip: xx=filesize-3
yay it works!!! Thank you so much!
Hello,
I try to find the answear to that question but i failed, probably is because i dont speak chinese
How can i import the footprints that i have exported from the htc footprints to a file .kmz to a google maps MAP, and show the photo in the footprint?
when i tri to do that, the photo doesnt appear...
Your Help will be appreciated...
----------------------------
I put that question to HTC:
Hello, When i try to import footprints to google maps in my pc (to my map), the photo doesnt appear. Please tell me how can i do that in order to solve that problem. the steps: 1. i export the footprint to the memory card 2. i put the file in my computer 3. i goto google maps and goto my maps, and after i do "edit" and i do "import" and i import the footprint file that was in my pc. 4. after that the point of interest appears in the map, but the phot doenst appear. When i use the mouse (right click) in the photo, the properties show the link to the "image file".......
and the answer:
Regarding your request, if you are trying to link a photo to Google maps on the handset, kindly confirm that you've followed the information below:
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Photos & Videos tab and then tap Albums.
2. Tap the photo of the location that you want.
3. While viewing the photo in full screen, tap the screen to display onscreen controls.
4. Tap Menu > Save as Footprints.
5. Drag and move the photo to center a small part of the photo on the crop box.
6. Tap Done to crop the selected part of the photo and save it as a new footprint.
7. The Edit screen then opens and lets you add location information to the footprint.
If you are trying to link the photo to Google maps on a PC, kindly contact Google to find if this is possible, as this feature is supported on the handset not on the PC.
i might be wrong but i do not think you can host images directly on google maps.but you cas store your kmz files or images elsewhwre and point it on it.something like sites.google.com, flickr etc..
but than again.i can be wrong.i have tried a few things after you posted your question just because i wanted to know more about this.maybe you want to check this out http://www.northgates.ca/kmlEditor/.it is free and cool editor for kml and kmz files.
anyway.i am still looking at it.if i will find something i will let you know.

more information about footprints
Thank you for your interest.
After that i install google earth in my pc and with google earth, aftetr import the kmz file, the footprints appear with the photo...
Probably because the google earth is a local program and the footprints file is local too.
Wath i want is the same but with google maps in my map...
It is very strange HTC d'ont say noting about it, because the most beautiful feature for footprints is going to a personal map and put all the footprints in the map with photos...
If you know more about it, please wirte it to all the peeple.
if there is any solution to this that would be great, otherwise footprint will be kinda useless..
I need to backup all my footprints but I cannot use the standard backup procedure since I have no access the the Footprints tab on Sense, my Sense have crashed and don't start any more.. Before I replace it with a new rom, I'd like to save my Footprints but how?
I installed the kml editor. Besides getting a virus warning it can't open the kmz created by footprints.
In Google Earth (!) (G.E.) I linked to my public dropbox folder in wich I stored the ***.kmz file (the export file from Footprints from my HTC). in G.E. under 'my places' rightclick 'Add' and 'networklink' after wich you copy and paste your URL. So, not to a local file, but an URL on the Internet. Works OK, so photos are displayed on proper locations on Google Earth. Still no way found tot display them in Google Maps. Stupid thing Footprints does not have a proper sulution for this.
Fine thing is, you can use the 'time' dawbar in G.E. tot filter your footprints, or even have them played 'through time'.

Hi all,
I write this app for myself but soon i decided to put it on Android Market
As you read on thread title, it is a simple app useful to write secure notes on flat filesystem. You can find it h ttps://mar ket.androi d.com/details?id=com.tostis.notes".
For lazy people i copy&paste market description here
Write down secret notes with Tostis Notes. Text is encrypted with AES algorithm and saved on your SD card to make backup easier. Every .tec file has its own alphanumeric password and is stored by default in /sdcard/TostisNotes/ directory.
Share unencrypted text inside your note with application like GMail, SMS, Twitter etc.
Send encrypted .TEC file as attachment in GMail or backup it with Dropbox.
Print to any printer with Google Cloud Print.
This is the ad supported version, please click on banner!
Buy Pro version with more features: ht tps://m arket.andro id.com/details?id=com.tostis.notes.pro
Features:
- Share unencrypted text or encrypted .TEC file
- Shake to close!
- Vibrate on save
- Move app to SD
- Custom directory on SD
- Order file list by name, data or size in ascending or descending order
- Open .tec file directly from your favourite file manager
- Backup to Gmail folder
- Print text with Google Cloud Print h ttp://ww w.google.com/cloudprint
QR Code -> ht tp://qr code.kaywa.com/img.php?s=8&d=https%3A%2F%2Fmarket.android.com%2Fdetails%3Fid%3Dcom.tostis.notes
Sorry but i cannot post links.
Great to see but unfortunately I don't trust closed source. Having trouble finding a solution since WhisperSystems was bought by Twitter
Sorry for delay. What are your concerns about closed source in security application? Tostis Notes simply creates a binary AES encrypted file starting from your typed text. The key is your salted passphrase.
All other features like print or backup are written around this core feature.
Most of the permissions are required from advertising network but are not used if you buy the Pro version.
PS. You already sent me an email, right?
If I enter an address or post (zip) code as a location for a calendar entry I get a 'target'/map button next to in in the entry details. Clicking on it shows my the location on the map.
But if I enter latitude and longitude coordinates (as determined by Google Maps on the web, of the form 51.628554,-0.749795), Android thinks this is a telephone number and offers a call button instead of a map button. Anyone know if there's lat/long syntax I can use that will tell Android this is meant to be a co-ordinate not a tel number?
Ah - seems it has to be of the form
+51° 37' 42.79", -0° 44' 59.26"
:-S
I can't find how to export all contacts to PC. The user manual is just childish stupid !
This must include all data (Name, phone numbers, etc)
Must I connect the device to a usb port or wifi and upload to cloud ?
Are they located on simcard or somewhere inside the device ?
1: Open Contacts app separately. (Not through dialer.)
2: Press 3 dots top right.
3: Select All
4: Click the share button.
5: From there you can choose to share it or save it locally on your phone which can then be copied to PC.
All contacts will be condensed into one .vcf file which is recognised by all phones.
All the best.
Thank you Alrich
After creating the vcf file:
I see the share icon. The wanted choice for me would be to send that file to the PC.
The Poco X3 NFC is usb connected to my pc with function file transfer allowed.
On the Poco screen I assume that the 'monitor' icon is the symbol for local pc ?
Clicking that option opens right away the app Casten which is asking access (3 options shown).
This app seems to be mandatory. I would have expected instantaneous copy operation instead of again another app authorization.
So far so good. But what to do with issue ‘Casten' ?
Even when going in this application settings and allowing 'location' I keep turning in a loop.

Can't you simply send the file to your email account and then download it on your PC?
I now try #4 (sharing with my gmail account).
The process shows a large spinning wheel and above a text Informatie controleren ... (Dutch). This seems to spin for ever.
By the way, I will change the language to English, for the purpose of reporting exactly what appears on screen..
At #3
I made a faulty assumption. The 'screen' icon is not for pc sharing. It seems to be for sharing the vcf file on screens ! What the hell has "exporting contacts" to do with sharing screens. Very confusing.

No idea what that might be. Maybe you have many contacts.
You can also try this:
Contacts - Share
And then select a file manager app. That way you can simply save the vcf file on your phone.
Then connect your phone to your PC and then copy the vcf file over
Meanwhile I managed to store Contacts on my PC.
But first, let me tell what NOT to do : Exporting to merged CSV file would be ok, if Excel would open that in a usual view. That however is not the case because Excel shows a useless scrambled view mixing all commas and data.
I found a free software that converts the csv file to another file that shows a normal view in Excel. Download from SourceForge https://sourceforge.net/projects/bulkvcftocsv/
Using that software Excel opens all Contacts as a normal sheet. This is easy to edit.
I assume that it can be used to import in iPhone devices.
No need to export contacts to pc via Google account, but you might like to do that also.
I do not know if there is any other easier method. Eventually why make things too simple if there is a more difficult way ?
#7 came was read after my fix described in #8. I might like to try it later

Possible cause: CSV standard is Comma Separated Values; in my experience and unless properly configured, Excel expects Colon Separated Values...
