[Request] Default Boot Animation - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I ended up changing my boot animation to something with the wrong size and ever since this bit** (totally a female dog) keeps refusing to get past the animation every time I do a hotboot (maybe even normal boots as I haven't tried one yet). Will someone zip up the default Verizon KitKat boot animation and upload it please?

if you have nandroid backup, try this
reboot to recovery > backup & restore > advanced restore > select " /system " > ( select your backup file ) > yes > done !
I have suggested advanced restore because you only want default bootanimation.
hit "THANKS" if I helped.

I was gonna do that but I just finished running a script to improve performance and well it modified a lot of system files and I don't really wanna go through the trouble of spending 30 minutes setting it up again if I don't have to.
I also figured out it only refuses to boot when I do a hot reboot, no idea but either way this new boot animation is terrible and it only started since I switched to it so I'm taking a leap of faith and saying it's the reason. Hopefully it is but either way I need the boot animation.

[Q] stuck on splash screen, please help!

im new at this please bear with me.
i rooted my shift last week. everything was fine, im not ready to get too crazy into flashing stuff yet (since the risk for bricking is higher with android). i like to take my time read, study, test small things here and there.
today i was browsing the forums and came across the battery icon mod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892297
so i downloaded it, i had rom manager installed, and installed the battery icon manager.
i chose the icon i wanted rebooted, it looked ok, so i wanted to try the other icon and loaded that one, phone rebooted and got stuck on the sprint splash screen.
i can boot into the bootloader, not sure what steps i need to take next to restore my os.

Boot in to CWM Recovery go to backup/restore /advanced restore, select restore /system only. Once that is complete clear the cache, reboot. you can then delete your dalvik cache (note: clearing the dalvik cache doesn't work via CWM currently). That's it.
If you didn't make a back up, just re flash the rom. If you were still stock, just flash preludedrew's or nfinitefx's base. You can even still keep your data. Just make sure from now on to back up before doing any mods.

Seeking Advice.

So I recently rooted my mytouch4g, after rooting my phone I learned how to load roms ect. As I found myself getting carried away loading this ROM, that theme whatever it may have been. Recently I have been having trouble booting up Roms and restoring backups off my phone is there anyway to just compleatly wipe my phone and start over?!
Hi, welcome to xda
You can, you need to enter recovery and do all the wipes there. You can do a factory reset trough settings and then the wipes
I am sure you can find instructions in your device section, should you need any
Thanks man new to the fourm and love my device.
I didnt know that through clockwork from the boot menu when i whiped the cash and factory restor that was all the data from the phone. It could just be the rooms I was trying to use...Seems to be the trend with most anyways.
Thanks again man.
and i'd recommend you install quick boot so you can directly launch into recovery mode

How to disable update notification

Hey guys,
First off, I am an admitted noob. From what I can tell, updating to 2.20/4.04 will un-root your device so I'm looking for a way to disable the update notification. Is there a way to get it to stop bugging me until 2.20 is rooted?
Also, how do upgrades generally work when you're rooted and want to maintain root?
Thanks!
Hey mine was bugging me and I just cleared the data for updater and it hasn't bugged me for the last two days.
Settings > Apps > All > Updater
Then clear everything you can (cache, data)
Good luck

Thanks! So how does updating work? Do I wait for 2.20 to be rooted, update, and re-root? Or install a pre-rooted image of some sort?

I am rooted -- do I need to unlock my bootloader too to flash a rom? I haven't done that yet because my understanding is that it wipes all the user data from your phone...

To flash a rom you need to unlock the bootloader which will wipe all user data not your sd card just data.

Normally with OTAs, after the OTA is downloaded, you will have the option to install or not. Just cancel, then delete the file from the SD card. Somebody will have to verify this is the case (haven't gotten the notification, personally), but that is normally how HTC does it. You have to be really careful not to hit the wrong option. But once you've cancelled the install, you won't get any more notifications for this particular OTA.
Really, the "settings" method suggested by footbal9584 seems much safer (as a wrong button press will actually install the OTA for my way). But if his method doesn't work, you might try mine.
Also, all the info you will probably ever need about unlocking the bootloader, flashing ROMs, etc. can be found in my Index thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
There you will find a method for keeping your user data while doing the bootloader unlock. But honestly, I'd recommend not going through the hassle. If you intend to flash custom ROMs, you should wipe data anyway.

Is there a good way to backup/restore? I've seen both NANDroid and Titanium Backup Pro recommended on here. Which one is best for backing up all my apps, settings, etc. so I don't have to redo all that after I unlock?
EDIT: Whoops -- didn't see post above. The method there uses dd to do a block-level backup -- does one of the above methods work, or not so much?

Nandroid is a full backup of the ROM, all user data, apps, and settings. If you are flashing custom ROMs, that is not what you want for restoring user data, etc. But its a good idea to do a nandroid backup of the stock ROM, in case you want to go back.
Titanium Backup is great for backing up user apps, and some settings. Some people use it to restore various settings, but this can be problematic, as all ROMs don't treat this data the same. Personally, I just use Titanium to backup and restore my apps and app save data, and sometimes WiFi and Bluetooth pairings. But I configure everything else manually. Usually takes me about 20 minutes to do it all when moving between ROMs.

Anyone know how effective this is? I postponed the update again today because I want to keep root like any sensible xda member, but it told me I cannot postpone any longer after this and it will just have to option to install now. I don't have my computer right now (at HP repair center) so unlocking bootloader isn't an option right now

Did not work for me -- I started getting chain notifications, hella annoying.
NOTE: even when the only available button is 'Install', the back button on your phone still works.
If I freeze the updater, will it break my phone?
I do not know I highly doubt it would but no guarantees. I cleared my data before it downloaded anything it just started the "there is an update you cannot use tour phone during install do you want to install now" I postponed it 8 hours a few times, but then just cleared the data and still haven't gotten any notifications.
Maybe see of what the other user said is correct maybe the update was downloaded to your phone and you need to remove the file before it will leave you alone.

At least on other devices, if you let the OTA download, then cancel it, it should stop the notifications. Can you confirm or deny this?
You can then just find the file on the internal SD and delete it. At least that is how it worked on the HTC Flyer.
If you can confirm, this would probably be a handy method for others. At least one other person is asking how to cancel the install (and other that want to stop the notifications, I'm sure): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29903041
Update: nevermind I restarted my phone today and ad soon as it booted up I got the is your last time to postpone message so I cleared updater again but now every time I unlock my phone I'm prompted to update and just have to push the back button. Sorry I'll keep looking into it.

Hey so I tried to get the custom recovery...am I supposed to delete the old "recovery" file and place the modded one there or am I just supposed to leave it alone? I have the update.zip file in the root of my sdcard but still I tried to boot it into the cwm recovery mode and still no dice.

Hi,
The thing is to always keep a stock rom or a copy of your current rom on your PC, if something goes wrong you'll have all the files you need. It helps in "urgent situation" and avoid to wait for someone uploaded the file you need.
And the first thing is to do a Nandroid backup before, each time you do this kind of stuff (or at least a recent backup).
