So I recently rooted my mytouch4g, after rooting my phone I learned how to load roms ect. As I found myself getting carried away loading this ROM, that theme whatever it may have been. Recently I have been having trouble booting up Roms and restoring backups off my phone is there anyway to just compleatly wipe my phone and start over?!
Hi, welcome to xda
You can, you need to enter recovery and do all the wipes there. You can do a factory reset trough settings and then the wipes
I am sure you can find instructions in your device section, should you need any
Thanks man new to the fourm and love my device.
I didnt know that through clockwork from the boot menu when i whiped the cash and factory restor that was all the data from the phone. It could just be the rooms I was trying to use...Seems to be the trend with most anyways.
Thanks again man.
and i'd recommend you install quick boot so you can directly launch into recovery mode

Boot into recovery, wipe the data/factory reset..and load up a new Rom.
Don't send it back. I don't know much about the Droid 2 but if you get it working you need not send it back.
You should have researched before rooting bro.

What I did when I am frozen now is started my phone up holding the X key, went into some menu and wiped data to factory settings, would that have cleared the root?
no that just clears any bad data preventing boot up, not root. you should also be able to use that recovery to flash a different rom. (stock rom maybe?!)
if your phone turns on, it doesnt need to go back, you need to learn how to read,
root isnt the only thing that voids your warranty. the custom rom does too!
read the XDA user guide in my sig, learn where your device sub-forum is, learn where to find "stickies" in each sub-forum of your device.
find said stickies and READ THEM for your device.

I can get into odin mode.... but it just stays there on the stupid Verizon LTE bootlogo.. I hate it..
Any help would be awesome.. i reaching here..
I would just pull the battery, boot into download mode and use odin to try to get back to root stock again. Here is a video guide if you need it.

Pull your battery, boot into Odin mode, and try again. Make sure you have the correct options checked in Odin.

pull the battery to powerdown, then use Odin to flash stock rom. Link is couple threads above. Very simple.

My Verizon Galaxy S3 had been stuck at the Verizon boot screen. Booted into recovery mode, reset the data, restarted, and, after about 10 seconds of hanging it went ahead and booted. Thanks!
I should follow up.
I did the same finally. reset my data despite my fear. My SD card data was left unharmed so i was able to use the rom on there to load and it worked like a charm.
Again my apps were removed and system settings were all gone but that is what it takes to load the ROM.
On a separate note i went from ICS to CM 10.0, i am running the Apex Launcher and i cant express how much i like it better than the stock ROM. there are a few things that hang and crash but for the most part it is worth the improvements.
I've been looking at rooting my phone for a while now but all the tutorials I had seen were for the old H-Boot option and I couldn't find any way to do it on my phone. I really have no clue on what to do so any help whatsoever would be awesome! Thanks

Start by reading the stickies in the Dev forum. Then read the stickies in the other forums. The use the 'Search' option (if that is down use Google with a site-specific search). Make sure you read and understand what you are doing before you start - but it is all fairly simple and the answers to all your questions are out there already.

*You go to htcdev.com and perform Unlock Bootloader procedure.

*Now, install ROM Manager from Play Store.

Your next post will likely be "can't boot the phone, stuck on HTC logo". When it happens, remember that instead of searching, you took the short path of listening to someone who might not know something (as in fact it happened). Just as the guys above, I have no patience for those who don't search, and not going to explain what's missing.

Haha nope I did it that way but used a different post, I wasn't going to just attempt it using a few instructions and risk screwing up my phone. Sorry to disappoint, and like I said before I searched it straight after and couldn't get rid of the post.

Hello, I am brand new here and I have to a serious problem with my galaxy s3 (verizon). Today I rooted and installed clockwork recovery and created a backup within the app everything seemed to well and I rebooted. Then I noticed I could get custom roms in clockwork mod and tried getting cyanogen mod for it. Downloaded and continued to install. Then when it booted I got a cyanogen mod boot screen loop . So I said ok and went to recovery and tried to restore my phone from the backup I made only to find that "no files were found" in clockwork recovery. So at this point I just want my phone to boot up and work with my data on it. Is there a way to remove cyanogen mod or even use my backup that was created and in fact does take up space on my sd card but can't seem to find. I thanks in advance .
Ok after some searching it seems that I have forgotten to do something with the boot.img file in the zip. If someone could give me instructions on what to do with it I would really appreciate it. Lol I know most of you are pulling your hair out about my mistakes but hopefully this can be resolved soon.
Nothing with a boot.img that's for HTC devices
Did you clean wipe/facotry reset before installing cm?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I have not. But if I do that that means I lose everything correct and cannot get it back? Or is there a way I can do a restore after I wipe and I get it back? After looking at this question I realize it sounds dumb lol. Also I just did this using a download from clockwork mod and after I did it I looked back at cyanogen mods website and there are more steps involved such as flashing certain files (which was not done because I did not know) I though if I downloaded it from clockwork mod that was the only step I had to take.

You have to clean install you can't just flash roms over each other. That was the reason for your bootloop and nope bud you've most likely have to clean install now. That backup should be somewhere if just click restore and it should find your backup?

Bingo. Always clear delvik cache and cache when flashing. It's also good to wipe data when upgrading a Rom and a must when going to a different Rom.

4. wipe caches

Hey so I tried to get the custom recovery...am I supposed to delete the old "recovery" file and place the modded one there or am I just supposed to leave it alone? I have the update.zip file in the root of my sdcard but still I tried to boot it into the cwm recovery mode and still no dice.
