New here and thought this would be the place to ask questions since i have found plenty of usefull information from this site
Question: how hard is it to create a rom for the evo?
i was thinking if it were possible to take the application viewer from TouchWiz 3.0 and switch it with that of the basic android app viewer on the Sense that it would be pretty nice
Welcome to XDA!
While I cannot directly answer your question (I'm not an Android dev), I can point you to the Android section of Chef Central. Take your time reading up on how Android works, and once you have a good understanding of the general aspects, head on over to the Evo 4G forums for more specific development information.
Please help - I can't edit my profiles anymore under the sound icon. not even one's i created. BB 8520 curve.
This is windows and android OS forum.
This is not where your question belongs. Google is your best friend.

I cannot believe no one has developed a reminder app for Windows Phone 7!
Not everyone wants to wear their phone on them at all times. For example, if I want to leave it on the counter, end table, charger, or go mow the lawn, it would be nice to have a reminder chirp and/or vibration let me know that I'd missed something.
And, I supposed my phone would appreciate not having the power/wake button exercised so frequently when I check for missed items. Yes, I'm frequently in environments that make it easy to miss a single audible and/or vibration alert.
Please tell me this app already exists and that I've overlooked it! =)
Me too, I always have to keep waking my phone to check for calls or messages.
This especially worse when I am out say walking in town, even with the volume on max and the options set to vibrate quite often I dont notice calls or messages.
Not sure if I understand what you're asking for, but I really think you're asking for a feature that can't be implemented.
Anyway, this subforum isn't for app requests, please have this thread moved by an admin. Thanks
This would come in handy for Dell Venue Pro users such as myself since there is no notification lights on the device.

If you don't feel WINDOWS PHONE 7 DEVELOPMENT and Hacking --> WINDOWS PHONE 7 APPS and Games isn't an appropriate forum, how about offering constructive feedback as to where it might best be served?
-------------------------------
Never mind, found a forum you might approve of.
FYI, as far as my desired app not being implement-able, I seriously hope you are wrong! But, I'm guessing there *is* a way, like if an app can access the same info as is presented on the tiles when there are missed/unread items.
-------------------------------
Never never mind This *is* the correct forum

Read the sticky in this subforum:
Rules for Non Devs
•You must not post a thread in this forum this is for app releases ONLY!, WP7 General is more suited for you.
[...]
•Please don't post requests or ideas in here, once again, this is for app releases ONLY! There is a thread in SW development that is specifically for that, and it is there for devs to get ideas.
•Any thread that is not an app release, will be closed with out warning, there are Rules Stickied for a reason!
I did some quick searching and I did not find much on this specific topic.
I need to have a tablet, Windows or Android, that can make VOIP calls internally to our office.
Of course we can use Skype or one of the many other VOIP services. But we also want the application to look "professional" and "customized" to our office (Our logo, matching color scheme, ect.)
We do not have the resources to hire a developer to build an app for us.
I've seen some incredible themes made for android, IE Themer. And by my understanding it shouldn't be to far fetched of a thought that there is a barebones VOIP app capable of being themed.
Thanks for the help! First time poster, so I assume I've made many errors. #Clueless
Hi,
Here is a dedicated thread for such questions,

Good luck!
Thank you. Thread closed.
There are old threads of the same problem more than 2 years ago... So I decided to start a new one.
like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426261
I don't want to waste time arguing with some of the opinions in the thread above or about the rule, so back to the case, I agree that people like the OP in the thread above or me are rarely seen. So I'd like to ask here if some moderator could help approve me as a member.
I plan to post in dev forum initiating a project that changes the behavior of Android Media Service. Currently Android Media Service always tries to guess the text-encoding in media files, resulting many messed tags in the library. But in fact there are standards defining what text-encoding of tags should be used in what format.
Please see some details at my previous post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57188174&postcount=466
So this is the motivation of initiating the project. And I'm an experienced developer with Android framework/kernel development experience. I want people in xda help with the development because I think most users don't take part in AOSP (Android Issue tracker in googlecode, for example) but take part in xda discussion.
Here is the github link of the project:
https://github.com/yumeyao/android_platform_frameworks_av
and the issue:
https://github.com/yumeyao/android_platform_frameworks_av/issues/2
and the issue I reported to AOSP tracker on googlecode:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=81428
Thanks for reading (so long) and thanks in advance for help
----EDIT----
Never mind I can post now
Good! ?
