New here and thought this would be the place to ask questions since i have found plenty of usefull information from this site
Question: how hard is it to create a rom for the evo?
i was thinking if it were possible to take the application viewer from TouchWiz 3.0 and switch it with that of the basic android app viewer on the Sense that it would be pretty nice
Welcome to XDA!
While I cannot directly answer your question (I'm not an Android dev), I can point you to the Android section of Chef Central. Take your time reading up on how Android works, and once you have a good understanding of the general aspects, head on over to the Evo 4G forums for more specific development information.

How i can download TraceLog or traceview
best regards

( I added the links to the binaries, they got lost in the conversion to wiki format )
Thanks, but I'm developing on SmartPhone in eVC 4.0!
Where can i find an example on Ril for exctracting the cell ID?
then why do you ask where to get tracelogview, if you mean to ask how to get the cellid?
I think you should pay a bit of attention to what the subject of the thread is. you have 3 different questions of which you mix up the answers in all threads. that makes it kind of difficult to answer.
The exactly Question is How can i exctract the cell id on my Smartphone (no pcketpc phone edition but smartphone)?
I've read that tracelogview allow to read them.
Thank's for your patience.
this site is based on pocketpc phone edition
and tools on this site may not work with smartphones at all
apart from that then more programmers read the hacking it
forum then this forum where posts disaper much faster because people are asking much more questions here
Hi,
I have two question:
1. How to convert videos on Ubuntu for usage in Android
2. Recommendations for a ebook reader with specific features I would need
My actual question on this board:
Where do I ask that stuff on this forum?
There are general forums for android, but they are all seemingly limited to developers.
Also my questions are not to device specific...
Where do I ask those questions?
Hi,
for your question
1. In Ubuntu you can use pitivi or another video editor, there's so easy to get it using Synaptic.
2. try Aldiko.
CMIIW,... Hope it would help
oh cool
Thanks, but that was not my question.
Still want to know where to ask that stuff.
Hello
I have a couple of ideas for applications that would be useful to smartphone users, and am only getting started gathering information.
Of the two ideas I have, one could be developed as a web application (so that a single application can be used on a PC and a smartphone) and the other probably needs to be written specifically for each platform (because it needs to handle calls).
I checked the sticky posts in the General forum, along with the wiki, and the home page, but didn't find an article for newbies that would provide a short, 10,000-feet view of what the options are, etc.
So to make an informed decision, I'd like to know what, at this point and in the near future, the main options are to write applications, with advantages and disadvantages for each.
Thank you.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I did some quick searching and I did not find much on this specific topic.
I need to have a tablet, Windows or Android, that can make VOIP calls internally to our office.
Of course we can use Skype or one of the many other VOIP services. But we also want the application to look "professional" and "customized" to our office (Our logo, matching color scheme, ect.)
We do not have the resources to hire a developer to build an app for us.
I've seen some incredible themes made for android, IE Themer. And by my understanding it shouldn't be to far fetched of a thought that there is a barebones VOIP app capable of being themed.
Thanks for the help! First time poster, so I assume I've made many errors. #Clueless
Hi,
Here is a dedicated thread for such questions,

Good luck!
Thank you. Thread closed.
Hi,
I'm working on an Android Based Robot, and I have difficulties to find answer to my questions.
I would like to use a SoC (system on chip, basicly creating a device from the chip) with android to manage all the controle.
I'm wondering what are the constraintes and limitations for using the android system.
(for instance can I use all the services such as android voice recognition ? Is there any declaration/fee to use android as OS ?)
I have been looking online already but it seems I'm not using the right keywords.
And it seems really uneasy to contact people from android.
Do you have any idea where should I look ?
Also if you have experience/answer, I would be happy to hear it.
Best Regards;
Hi !
We appreciate your enthusiastic attitude but unfortunately there is not much help here on building devices , xda is about software development basically rather than hardware
Some hint can be found here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-university
https://www.xda-developers.com/xda-university-building-your-own-android-rom/
More help might come from Google and other enthusiasts
Good luck !
Thank you for your answer,
concerning android I will have a look to the custom builds tuto,
concerning the feature I will post specific questions for each topic.
