[Q] Moto G to TracFone? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The Moto G is now able to be reconfigured for Page Plus. Any word if a Boost, Verizon or etc. (CDMA) model can be set to use TracFone. I understand there is a limitation with the serial number. Can this be worked around with a 'donor phone' (an old TracFone)?
Boost Mobile phones can be unlocked. Does this affect use with TraceFone? Does anyone have a Boost Moto G they'd be willing to test input the IMEI in the BYOD system to check it?
Thanks in Advance.

P. S. Please excuse if this was asked earlier, the forum users often abbreviate TF and the search tool will not allow such a short phrase. TracFone has only four results.

[Q] Help a noob confirm network-band models(Cricket)

Short story GF needs a new phone been eyeing the moto g for a while. And cricket does have a moto g through there website but one thing is the internal memory is 8GBs ,happens to be the only model crickets offers. which is clearly not enough for a app heavy user. GPE has a 16GB version on googleplay perfect size. Just needed some help confirming GPE model will work with Cricket USA. (Any limits like 3G only or LTE capable from the bands provided by google on their playstore and whatever cricket bands are.)
Also stupid question cricket use sim? (I try not to ask gf cause she will beat me knowing I'm getting her a new phone and asking that question would be dead give away)
Thanks alot

From what I understand, Cricket is an AT&T MVNO and will use sim cards, along with the AT&T towers. Also the version of the Moto G on the Google Play store is the European one, no idea why they would do that, but that means no 3G in the U.S. I'd suggest either getting the phone through Amazon, or from Motorola themselves, as they do carry it for sale directly.

[Q] Moto g prepaid

Hi,
I want to buy Motorola Moto G ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=1970559082&pf_rd_i=desktop). This is a prepaid phone.
Can I use it with my SIM in Slovenija or not ??? (without paying extra money for)
Tnx, Vid
In description it says carrier= Verizon so I believe this may be locked to Verizon try searching "unlocked moto g", or " sim free moto g'
Sent from my XT1039 using XDA Free mobile app
You should look for a moto g that support's your carrier's frequencies.
That phone is for Verizon which uses CDMA and therefore i don't believe that it uses a SIM card. I would recommend this model which should work with your carrier. I'd double check the frequencies but I'm sure that this is the one you'd want.

[Q] Boost Moto G on Selectel?

So I got a used Boost Moto G on Ebay thinking I could still activate it on Selectel/PagePlus. Went through the guide to unlock it, flashed to Verizon stock firmware, then Selectel tells me the ESN of Boost phones is no longer being allowed by Verizon to be used by the MVNO's. Is there a way for me to use a donor phone (old Droid X I currently have on Selectel) and put its ESN etc on the Moto G? If so, what is the process? If this is too much hassle or not possible, I will have to resell the phone and find a Verizon Moto G that has been used for over 6 months (that still will work for Selectel, yes?)

Check your phone's settings for model #.

Moto G 3rd gen from republic wireless android version

Hi
I have a Moto G 3rd gen from republic wireless , my main goal is to unlock it and use it in other GSM network
I did some reading and republic wireless says it cannot be done.. This is what they say:
With that understanding, we do not "lock" any of our phones. However, the nature of our unique software that powers Republic Wireless is not technologically compatible with other carriers. We have explored - and will continue to explore - a way for Republic Wireless members to take their device to another carrier. Unfortunately, this is not easy and will require close coordination with both our equipment manufacturer and other carriers. At this time, we do not have any way to forecast when this will be possible.

My question is, can I remove the current phone software and install fresh android software to bypass this?

Interesting... I haven't messed with Republic Wireless devices much, they are primarily WiFi devices then fallback to Sprint and T-Mobile networks so they should work OK with some tweaking. Although if they are using the Sprint variant as a base model, we know those are garbage and not usable outside of Sprint's network in the US.
Is it eligible for bootloader unlocking on Moto's site? What is the base model (XT15XX) and the output of "fastboot getvar all" with the IMEI masked out?
Just FYI per my experience on this topic .... Have a RW version of the Moto G3 (Osprey) it is an XT1548 model .... was hoping to load a new custom ROM and move to a different carrier (not RW). After getting the unlock code from the phone via FastBoot, the Motorola site said: "motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com says: Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking." Phone is now sufficiently old that not worth paying the $25 to see if Sunshine may be able to unlock. So, looking like just buying a non-RW eBay phoone may be next step. Has anyone ever gotten a RW custom ROM phone unlocked or custom ROM loaded without going via the SunShinne route? If so HOW???
