Find out original carrier? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Moto G, and I just ordered an unlock code from CellUnlocker.net for it ... but they haven't been able to get me a code.
I believe the original carrier was either Bell, or Virgin, because it works with both of these carriers and no others.
Is there a definitive way of finding out who the original carrier is? There are no indications on the box, and it's using the stock US-en Retail firmware.
Thanks!

What moto g is it? Xt?

I took a picture of the Moto G's box label for insurance purposes and can tell you where to look.
Mine came from Koodo, a Telus subsidiary, which also sells the 8GB XT1032 like Bell and VMC do. Also worth mentioning, Wind and Videotron sell the 16GB XT1034.
00314NATLS is the one way to tell it came from either Telus or Koodo. I expect Bell and VMC to have another code accordingly.

Buying a Moto G in the states for abroad. Verizon or unlocked version?

Hi All
I`m travelling to the states in a few weeks and was interested in picking up a new phone , namely the Moto G. I noticed best buy have two versions
an verizon no contract for $99 and an unlocked for $202. The downside is that they only seem to have the verizon in store , the other has to be ordered in.
Anyone know what the best option is, would the verizon need to be unlocked for use on a foreign network? If so ,is that a straight forward job?
And also, is the verizon version ok for rooting? I read somewhere its not possible.
Thanks in advance
If you are getting one for abroad , get the international GSM version. Here's why:
1. The Verizon Moto G is CDMA only, which means it will only work on Verizon and cannot be unlocked for use on a GSM network in another country.
2. The Verizon Moto G cannot have its bootloader unlocked because Verizon mandates that so you cannot root it at all.

[Q] Help a noob confirm network-band models(Cricket)

Short story GF needs a new phone been eyeing the moto g for a while. And cricket does have a moto g through there website but one thing is the internal memory is 8GBs ,happens to be the only model crickets offers. which is clearly not enough for a app heavy user. GPE has a 16GB version on googleplay perfect size. Just needed some help confirming GPE model will work with Cricket USA. (Any limits like 3G only or LTE capable from the bands provided by google on their playstore and whatever cricket bands are.)
Also stupid question cricket use sim? (I try not to ask gf cause she will beat me knowing I'm getting her a new phone and asking that question would be dead give away)
Thanks alot

From what I understand, Cricket is an AT&T MVNO and will use sim cards, along with the AT&T towers. Also the version of the Moto G on the Google Play store is the European one, no idea why they would do that, but that means no 3G in the U.S. I'd suggest either getting the phone through Amazon, or from Motorola themselves, as they do carry it for sale directly.

[Q] Moto g prepaid

Hi,
I want to buy Motorola Moto G ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=1970559082&pf_rd_i=desktop). This is a prepaid phone.
Can I use it with my SIM in Slovenija or not ??? (without paying extra money for)
Tnx, Vid
In description it says carrier= Verizon so I believe this may be locked to Verizon try searching "unlocked moto g", or " sim free moto g'

You should look for a moto g that support's your carrier's frequencies.
That phone is for Verizon which uses CDMA and therefore i don't believe that it uses a SIM card. I would recommend this model which should work with your carrier. I'd double check the frequencies but I'm sure that this is the one you'd want.

[Q] Boost Moto G on Selectel?

So I got a used Boost Moto G on Ebay thinking I could still activate it on Selectel/PagePlus. Went through the guide to unlock it, flashed to Verizon stock firmware, then Selectel tells me the ESN of Boost phones is no longer being allowed by Verizon to be used by the MVNO's. Is there a way for me to use a donor phone (old Droid X I currently have on Selectel) and put its ESN etc on the Moto G? If so, what is the process? If this is too much hassle or not possible, I will have to resell the phone and find a Verizon Moto G that has been used for over 6 months (that still will work for Selectel, yes?)

Correct.
For this reason this thread is closed.

Bought ebay "unlocked" phone, not from Buyspry

I ordered from a different seller, it's supposed to be "att tmobile unlocked" but then in the description it says "LG G5 LS992 RS998 VS987 (Latest Model) - 32GB - Gold Titan 4G LTE (GSM Unlocked) " none of those models seem to be ATT or Tmobile so idk what's going on there. I'm guessing it's using the software unlock nonsense that appears to be an issue. Am I going to be able to unlock this thing and put on custom roms? is it even going to work on Tmobile? http://www.ebay.com/itm/182588725106 This is the listing I ordered from.
Why not return it and just use Swappa

Hindsight. I suppose I can return it once it arrives, though I'm sure I'll be in it for shipping then as well.
