Best Twrp version for custom ROMs - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Looking at dropping a custom ROM on my new M8. I'm currently rocking TWRP 2702 because I read that 00 had issues. That said, some ROMs seem to indicate they only work on 00.
Should I go back to 00 if I'm going to start down this or am I generally safe with 02 unless a ROM specifically says otherwise?

+1. I'm using TWRP 2.7.0.2, and have flashed numerous ROM's with no problems. Currently running ViperOne M8 1.6.0

What issues did you hear about 2.7.0.2? I've had zero issues with TWRP.

Agree with all that has been posted here. Using 02 TWRP and have been flashing ROM's everyday (trying to find one to say with but all are really so good i cant decide) it seems with out any problems at all

I am familiar with that other unofficial version. Reading through the entire thread, I don't see where it's necessarily more reliable.
Beamed from the holodeck of my Nexus 7 FHD.

Wasn't sure so I wanted to get a slightly better warm and fuzzy from folks with more M8 experience than myself.
Thanks alll for the responses, I feel more relaxed now about dropping something different on this rather nice device!

[Q] Noob question

Been waiting for today but now I don't know which phone to get lol.
I haven't used Sense since the Evo 4G and didn't really care for it, so I'm not sure if I'll like the new version or not. I'm wondering if I get the Verizon model, can I just install the GPE rom to get vanilla android? Obviously once the phone is rooted and all that jazz. I've never owned a phone that had a GPE edition so I don't know if you can flash the GPE rom on the non-GPE version...

There is a good chance we will see GPE ROMs if we get root. The Verizon M7 did.

Or you can just install nova launcher or the Google play launcher until someone develops a GPE rom
Nice, well then I'll probably just get the Verizon model and if I don't like Sense, I'll just install a different launcher while waiting for a GPE rom.

Gotta agree with you there. Sense has always ended up being my go-to. Especially since the M7 and now the M8... it's just soooooo smooth. Even my friend with a Nexus 5 was impressed by how smooth it is.

Unfortunately there's never been a way to convert the Verizon addition to a developer edition as far as I know. But with S OFF there is really no difference because the device is completely unlocked and you can do whatever you please with it.

Can you link me to the exact one that you are running currently? I installed the 1122 build yesterday and everything was fine until I rebooted the ROM and I lost data completely and was unable to get it back. I heard of a few others complaining of the same issue. Have you tried to reboot your phone and see if data still working with wifi off? If so and it is please link me to it exactly which version you're running thanks

I installed it a hour ago. No problems yet
I have been wanting to convert mine to a dev for a long time, and there are two different posts out on the m8 forum for this but they only work for the gsm versions such as international, tmobile and at&t. And I"am sure there has to be a way for our verizon m8 its just finding it, as ours is a world phone being both cdma and gsm, even if it had to only run on the gsm side it could still work if they get the volte update pushed out as part of L then there would be no need for cdma for us and we could just totally run off verizon lte which is actually gsm.
So this may be a possibility in the near future especially. I myself not only want the updates directly from htc which are faster but I would prefer to never ever again have to run verizon software / firmware because all verizon wants to do is lock us all out.
At least all the other carriers allow htc dev to unlock the bootloaders but verizon just likes to be total asses about this, I guess they think they are too big for there britches, for this exact reason I really wish I could switch to at&t but I dont have coverage for them at home with zero bars maybe some edge coverage 1% of the time never enough to use the phone on, and verizon is not much better with only getting 1x data and no plans to upgrade.
So I"am with all of you on this I would like to convert my verizon m8 to dev also and ditch verizon having any control over my phone ever again, as I pay them for service and not to try to lock down my phone which I"am supposed to legally own with honoring my side of the their 2 year contract.
But for that matter you can buy a phone at full retail price and they still try to lock you down.

Just purchased LG G3 White

Hey community! I am currently and sadly a GS4 user with AT&T. Have had to deal with safestrap which im thankful for, never a full unlock. Just purchased a G3 off swappa. Definitely looking forward to having full control over my device without restrictions.
Read around and rooting is obviously easy. Custom recovery is what im going to be looking into next. Whats your current rom if running custom? If your still on stock, why?
Cheers

Hello and welcome! I think you'll find the G3 to be a great device, especially now that there is development for it. I am running my Candy5 ROM. It's based on CM12 with some goodies added. Give it a shot once you get TWRP flashed. You won't regret it :good:

Btw I rooted mine with purpledrake

I just got an LG G3 a couple of days ago and still using my first Note (i717) as a tablet. I cannot believe how smooth and fast this thing is, originally I was going to get the Note 4 but I'd rather spend $1.09 than $249.99+tax. So here I am an LG G3 member and it's good to be back on the forums with a fresh device.
Until At&T stop acting like a little-baby-b***h and locking their devices, you can try the available tools and tricks to get by.

Since you will be on a different carrier I would say yes.
What network and where are you going, I can try and edit a file for you now so that you can just flash it and hopefully you will get the network.
Even though ROMs are multicarrier, they don't support ALL carriers, so I may need to make a few changes to get you data. but I am here for you, as a friend to help. If my ROM turns out to not work well for you, I will help you get set up on another ROM. I don't fight for users. :good:

However, I feel you should be able to pop that SIM card in and just need to edit the APN and you are good. to. go.

Lollipop is the best firmware to be on. It allows you to boot KK, L and MM based Sense ROM

Well, lollipop and MM allow for KK roms including custom kernels. I still use a kk rom (bone stock v-3) with custom kernel (flar port). Still can't get these marshmallow ROMs to boot although I have not done a full RUU yet

What recovery are you using? I'm still on 2.8.5.0
I got it to boot as I'm using a GSM M8 so I need a kernel with unified dtb.img. Which version of the M8 are you using?
Do you have a link to the flar port kernel you mention?
