ATT S5 got faster camera, improved fingerprint scanner, etc. Now Sprint?? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I saw that the international S5 got an update a couple days ago with the above improvements as well as generally less lag and better use of the RAM.
re:
Galaxy S5 update brings faster camera and improved fingerprint scanning | SamMobile
I am now wondring if Sprint has any plans to roll out this update. Has anyone seen any news about this?
Thanks.
re:

"There also seem to be general performance improvements and better RAM management post update, though these are usually noticeable immediately after an update before going back to how they were. The update is currently available over Kies and is also rolling out over the air, though as usual, it could take a while before it shows up on your device. If you’re unwilling to wait, you can always download the firmware from our firmware section and update manually.
Firmware Details:
• Model: SM-G900F
• Model name: GALAXY S5
• Country: United Kingdom
• Version: Android 4.4.2
• Changelist: 1539356
• Product Code: BTU
• PDA: G900FXXU1ANE2
• CSC: G900FOXA1ANE2
• MODEM: G900FXXU1ANE2"

I hope so. I'd love to have these features and faster performance.

I agree completely, compared to the other Sprint Galaxy Forums, the S5 forum for Sprint doesn't see much traffic it seems like.

Just spotted this over on geek.com:

Hopefully this will be coming to ALL S4's
Cheers,

While this seems like a good idea on paper, updates will be faster, but all the great samsung features wont be there air view, multiview apps, smart stay even changing the font in settings. The lighting effect in the lockscreen is also cool. The switching tabs in the browser by swiping your hand over the sensor. While touchwiz launcher isnt the best touchwiz add some greqt features beyond that imo.
I think it would be a good alternative to CM10.1
This is good news if its true. When we get bored with Samsung room we will have choice to flash that Google room.

I am pretty sure this will be for the Snapdragon version (I hope I am wrong).
Good news nonetheless.

I noticed this when upgrading from sgs3 to sgs4 last month.
I've noticed it as well. I miss the days of the S2 and siyah kernel. KT is the closest kernel were going to get to that kind of features. With the S5 due out soon a lot if devs are going to move on. This will be my last samsung. I'm tired of Sammy's ugly and bloated FWs

Hmm.. the biggest advantage, from my point of view, of nexus devices are, they'll rather have support for upcoming OSs such as Ubuntu, Mozilla etc. because of AOSP(drivers etc.). Samsung/HTC/Sony on the other side have always their customized Android OS, which is also a good thing because they have to be absolutely stable.
My SHV-E330S(same as I9506) has not less mods than my old S2. I would say, it has much more mods than S2.
The only difference - you wait when someone will do this for you, while i do it by myself.
Actually, i don't see what is interesting in using already made custom ROM which has be made in someone's specific taste.
Today, there are much more devices than before. Thus, concentration of developers for particular device is less and less. If you want to get something interesting for particular device, you have to become one of such developers.
Otherwise, just get Nexus - it already has naked Android which most people here is looking for.
The only thing i miss for my I9506 is the kernel developement. But if you think better why would you OC the Krait 400?Isn`t the fastest CPU avalaible on the market?A kernel with udervoltage feature enabled would be perfect. For the rest...if you have root you can make it all by yourself. There are a lot of tutorials on the market explaining how you can port a custom ROM and a lot of mods and themes ar compatible for this phone from I9505 thread and Note 3.For short...i`m very satisfied with my I9506.Way faster and less battery draining than I9505.I have them both!
If no-one is porting a rom from either the Xperia Z1, or from the Note 3 wich at least have the same CPU, i will probably look into how to do this myself.. I bought the i9506 yesterday and thought there would be a custom rom allready, but no.. My old Optimus 4X HD is still in use, cause i really hate the Samsung menu system!
I9506
I am from India. My friend is getting me a I9506 from US for 490 dollars. is it a good deal? Will I get OTA updates on it?

Think no.. New samsung devices have a region lock by default..
If its a new device and is unlocked maybe, but u need to activate in your region for first use..
Dont know if device only run in US if ur friend activate the phone there..
If not, you'll need to unlock it and pray..
Other thing will be flash ur own firmwares but this will flag a 1 on knox void warranty efuse and cant receive OTAs..

Sadly the data plan network on our country have no HTC One supplies, i would to get hands on it really. Also I am shock by the mods and also CM, i though Galaxy Line are the modfest.
Yes, I agree on this also.
I had an S3 before and I have to say that Devs were going crazy making new Roms/Tweaks and kernels almost every day!
I thought the GS4 would be even more crazier but turns out that it isn't. Should've got that Nexus 5 :|

Ultra Power Saving Mode

Just wondering, is anyone porting this feature from the S5 to the note 3? Thanks!
Depending on carrier you can flash the S5 port rom and have almost everything s5 offers software wise.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 gets Download booster

Saw this news few days ago. Hopefully sooner all Note 3 model can have this feature.
T-Mobile USA's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 got its KitKat update in early March, but the phablet is now receiving an additional update, which adds a couple of Galaxy S5 features. The initial Android 4.4.2 update had a software version N900TUVUCNB4, while this new one is N900TUVUDNE6.

Kids mode is nice, for the ones whom need it.
But the download booster sounds just silly to me, in most country there's a limit on MB's on 3/4G networks.
Or is it just me that my home network is way faster than the 4G counterpart...
ps "Download booster" only combines the 3/4G network and wifi for higher speeds.

S7 Edge arrived early! Ask me anything - Vid unboxing included

Hi all!
I received my Galaxy S7 Edge from T-mobile today. I am catching a plane and plan on playing with this thing quite a bit! I should have internet to browse the forum and monitor the thread. If you have ANY questions, ask away. Happy to answer or test things out. Currently, the device is incredible. Butter smooth. Touchwiz is far better, for me, on Marshmallow and I am happy to have Now On Tap. I am coming from a Note 5.
Model Info:
Model Number: SM-G935T
Android Version: 6.0.1
Baseband Version: G935TUVU1APB6
AP: G935TUVU1APB6
CP: G935TUVU1APB6
CSC: G935TTMB1APB6
FTA SW VERSION: G935T.001
Questions asked:
Q: How does the Note 5 compare to S7 Edge in size and handling?
A: Quite nicely. Originally I hated the sharp edges on the S6 Edge. I loved the Note 5 curved edges and focus on handling. The S7 Edge feels better and the screen is gorgeous. The device is light and doesn't get too warm, except during setup. I am able to type with one hand and I have medium size hands, maybe more on the small side. Love it so far, compared to the Note 5.
Q: How is the "always on display"?
A: It's actually a feature I love. I always wanted a feature like this, but the battery drain was a concern. Initial testing, it doesn't drain the battery very much, if at all noticeable. Marshmallow also helps with battery life. The always on display is informative and clean. Looks great on a black device as the entire front of the phone is dark except the white text.
Here is a video of the quick unboxing and I plan on updating with a new video on first impressions and answering some popular questions.
Thanks!
I thought the release date was march 11?

That is the official date available to buy in stores. T-mobile is great at shipping out once their stock/inventory arrives. Samsung also isn't so strict to refrain any devices from arriving to customers before official date.

I'm not sure how to tell if it is 3.0 or 2.0, to be honest. If you can point me in the right direction I can let you know. I don't have a u1 to test against the u3 for speed. I'll ask my business partner if he has something I can try.

Great question. The scanner is fast. I do wish they would allow unlocking with finger without pressing button while screen is off. So far it's been very reliable and snappy.
Audio quality is great. What was expected. Nothing concerning and nothing mind blowing. Clear crisp audio and output.
Speaker phone has been awesome. Call quality has surprised me and I've been very happy with it. In a noisy airport, the other caller could hear me crisp and clear without added background noise.
Jank and smoothness
Congratulations on being one of the lucky ones to get your phone early :good:. I see that you had/have a Nexus 6P...can you comment on how the smoothness of the UI is compared to the Nexus 6P? I'm interested in knowing if the scrolling smoothness in chrome and just in general are in the same neighborhood as the 6P and if you've seen any of the nefarious "jank" that samsung seems to suffer from.
I know I know, the first rule about samsung jank is that we don't talk about samsung jank but lets get it all out on the table here .
Neat video thanks. I have a co-worker who has a s6 edge and they are such beautiful phones. Still trying to decide whether I'm going to get one or wait and see if they make an edge + or note edge with a little bigger screen. I hope they make one a hair bigger. Using a Nexus 6p now and I love it and it's 5.7 came from a Nexus 6 which I loved also and that's 5.96 so used to the big screens. I'm going to go look at these in store and see can't be much difference in 5.5 vs 5.7. Anyway thanks for the video. It's a pain in the butt to hold camera and do a video. Been there before.
Ps: @ op I see your a fellow Houstonian. Me too but I now live in San Antonio. Always cool to see people from the hometown on xda. ?
Awesome! I got mine yesterday!

Sorry for the short reply. Catching a layover and taking off soon. The UI is smooth. It's TouchWiz and I was never a big fan. However, this version doesn't intrude or cause any issue. I am starting to appreciate the added features compared to a very bare stock experienc .
There wasn't much junk actually. Some carrier stuff and Samsung but no crap games or added bloat. Was happy to see that.
