Now there's a system dump of the OnePlus One, would it be possible to port it? I know it sounds stupid because we already have cm11, but I'd love the lock screen and other goodies it comes with
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Possible? Yes, always possible.
Easy? Nope.
Well I was thinking that because cm11s isn't that different to cm11, it shouldn't be too hard because we have fully functional cm11, was just wondering if there are any Dev's interested in this

Hi,
I posted it yesterday in this thread with the GalleryNext: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/search-camera-app-oneplus-one-t2730715.

There is a way to port "always-listening" app?

Thats not quite the issue. The issue is we don't have the source. It's compiled for completely different hardware. It's not about the rom. It's about the kernel and drivers

I don't own the skyrocket but my mom does. She is having some issues with the ROM I flashed long ago so I figure now is a good time to upgrade. What do you suggest for stability and battery life? I don't care which version of android or cutting edge features but I do care about everything working all the time as I live several hours from her and just can't fix things for her at any time.
Let me know what you recommend and why. The more detail the merrier. Thanks!

If you don't care about android version or features, leave it stock..

Not the reply I expected but okay. It is not stock now.

That is surprising. That's either a compliment to the Samsung devs or an indictment of the ROMs available on xda. Looks like I will try mohan_kr's 4.1.2 UCMC1 AT&T official stock odexed unless someone has a better suggestion.

Just flash different ones let her use them and see what she likes.

I believe what he's meaning is since you can't up and drive down the street to fix her device, you should stay as close to bone stock as possible. I keep my mom rooted with custom recovery only so I can back up the device data in case of hardware/software failure. But she is bone stock at&t 4.1.2, which was a huge leap of change from 2.3 for her. She is 16 hr drive from me.
My wife has this phone and I've found the easiest to transition into android has been MIUI ROM for her. Everything is pretty stable and has the general functionality needed.
Not the latest and greatest since it's on 4.1.2, but works well.

That's rather rude and uncalled for. Just search around best threads get closed this is no different. also if you want advice don't mess with other peoples devices unless you're prepared for 24hr tech support.

Going to close this as users are expected to do their own research to make their their own determinations.
Any Roms besides Cataclysm that include Google dialer? I don't want to have to flash it because I've read about incompatibilities.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Flashing it works just fine. ROMs aren't really supposed to include it, for legal reasons.

Let me rephrase that. It should work fine, but that all depends on your ROM.
If you flash the Google Dialer addon module from the official PA gapps, it will remove the built in dialer and replace it with the Google one.
No. They have the same name so what you flash will replace what once was there

Lol I've done some search. Seems like I have to change my rom to the Minus build?
Sorry, I'm a noob. I just got my N5 and switched over from iOS like 2 days ago lol. Still getting the hang of everything and learning.
Can you direct me in the path of enlightenment?
thanks lol
I don't know where it is but the guy I gave the link to in the other thread found it

Is there one for N5? I can't find one and my ROM doesn't have it built-in either.
I've seen some tutorial on how to make it, but it's also ROM specific and I really don't know how to do all that, nor have the time to, really.

We'd either need a leaked version from Moto or a ported version from the Nexus line right? IF that's possible, I'd assume you could port over a dev release and get it now. Porting is beyond my skill level, though (since I have 0 skill) so I don't know if that'd even be possible.

I'm sure it's possible. It was done with my HTC M8, ported from the M9. If you don't want a custom ROM, then Moto should have an update ready around the same time as the Nexus phones, at least that's what happened last time (Moto even got lollipop before the Nexus 6).
That's one of the reasons I went with this device. Fast updates :good:
In one month after the Nexus release.
Custom roms should be quick in my opinion

Wouldn't a dev just be able to build from source once the 6.0 source is released?

Since we already have CM support, it shouldn't take much longer from when CM adopts Marshmallow.
