any best way to increase battery life?? - General Questions and Answers

hav seen so many posts on this but didnt get to the right one!! any mods through which we can get good battery life??
Sent from my Micromax A91 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Logically, the battery can be saved by less brightness; switching of the unwanted apps / wifi / bluetooth, etc. And lastly power saving mode.

I had problem when changing roms i would get really good battery life initially then would gradually drain fast over time. I usually leave my battery to drain down untill phone switchs off, but now i started charging at %20-%30 percent and saw a significant difference in battery decrease. And river just pretty much covered every other way of saving battery.

There are a few mods for better battery life but what I did was buy an extended battery.

My tip? Underclock/undervolt and lower brightness.
N7105 rocking AOSB with AGNi kernel,

Click "Thanks" if I was of any help!

Power saving mode. Lower brightness. Last but not least Greenify. I do not undervolt my devices since this affects responsiveness.

Always fully charge your phone up to 100% and wait a couple hours then disconnect.
Don't disconnect cable while charging.
Always drain the battery till the phone off or 1% left.
I know this by testing it to my LG L3 e400.
At the beginning the phone only had about 2 days standby time. Now it's 7 days 19 hours standby time.
Don't forget to use a good Rom.
Do this at your own risk.

Idk but totally draining your battery can do more harm than good for it. Charging it at around 20% percent is fair enough. Discharging it once a month can be helpful as it resets your charge cycle.

It's only for my LG L3. For my LG L7 I always charge it between 30% to 40%.

Lithium ion/polymer is not the same as NiCad. You don't need to peak charge, nor fully discharge lithium batteries. In fact, they're healthiest with a moderate charge. NiCads could develop "memory" if not properly maintained and conditioned, where they'd prematurely dump and/or not reach their max charge. Lithium batteries don't.

Greenify helps a lot.
If you have xposed installed, then you might want to take a look at DS battery saver.

Battery Life

Guys, how's the battery life on this phone? From having it only one day, I'm not too impressed. With the screen on auto bright at its lowest setting, I'm losing 5-7 percent every 10 minutes just browsing the net or using the xda app. Is this normal?

I'm getting 13-15 hours on a charge with 2.5-3 hours of phone calls and at least 2 hours screen on time. When I'm not using my phone I'm losing about 3% per hour (connected to wifi). I have facebook syncing and push email going also. Overall I am liking the battery life.

Go into the task manager and close all running apps. Also try bump charging. I'll find the link for the thread about it
bump charging is only going to buy you that last 5% or so. that's great if you need an extra 20 - 40 min, but in reality, if battery life is "short" even an extra hour won't save you because when people cry about long vs short battery, it's something like 2 days of charge vs 1 day....

Hi,
Any new battery will take at least couple of complete charge cycles to reach their optimum capacity. Also the phone needs few charges to build up the battery stats to report it correctly.
Just use it for a week and the battery life should improve. You can also fully charge the phone than discharge it in one go, wait for few hrs and charge up again.

Battery

How much battery do you guys usually get? Recently I've noticed a large drainage of battery and I know phone isn't too good with battery but even this doesn't seem normal. Some of my apps use 1-2% of battery per minute! Is this normal or not?
Sent from my SGH-T769 using xda app-developers app
Oh and my battery never gets to 100%, the phone will tell me it has reached 100% but as soon as I unplug it, the battery is usually at 92-95%, also I use Juice Defender and it seems to help but not much..

generally my phone will last all day, but that is only when i rarely use it. when im using it a lot, for example if im playing games and listening to music, it lasts about half a day. but it all depends on how you use it. if you are using a lot of 3D apps, your battery will drain quickly
Mine lasts all day. I listen to local music and have push email hitting me most of the day. I might have to charge it at night if I use it a lot and I am up past midnight.

I think the Blaze battery is one of the best I've seen. I use my phone lots from 8am till 23:00 and it gets down to about 5%.
That's on Dark Knight ROM.
Sent from my SGH-T769
Odd ive got over a day on my battery with over 4 hours display time on my blaze with erikkm's darkknight rom with moderate use Lithium ion batteries have a memory and when you fully kill the battery it reduces its memory slightly, always always try to charge your phone before 30-20% and dont unplug your phone while its charging that can effect the battery memory as well.

there's apps to do it or the better option in my opinion is to use zeppelinrox's script to do it. just Google search for it there's a thread on xda with all his scripts.

Thanks Mate :good:
I have a severe battery problem. The phone automatically turn off itself when there is still 4000mV left
(this is the voltage the battery calibration app says, i've confirmed it with an actual voltage-meter)
Wipeing batterystats.bin (calibrate the battery), doing a factory reset or switching back to cm7 does not help

I got a battery from Samsung with my new phone that wouldn't hold a charge. I phoned them up, they asked me some questions, were happy that I wasn't trying to scam them, and they sent me a new battery. It wouldn't solve your problem, but at least you could have a spare!
Get an app from market called CurrentWidget, after installing plug in charger and check amps, it Must be 999 mA not higher nor lower. If it is higher then get other charger.

Is it time for a new battery?

Ive been contemplating the fact that my terrible battery life is my battery... Ive been playing with kernels and roms and i found a setup i like..... Battery life is still crap... I know this device doesnt have excellent battery but i can hardly squeeze 4 hours on moderate use....
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Yeah - unless you are streaming video, audio, in a no-service zone and have your brightness set to max... that's a horrible battery life. Get a new one.
Change your battery. I also playied on my ex phone with roms and kernels, but after charging battery after 20 mins of charging always went 20% lower and handeled 3h of moderate use.
Yea i wasnt sure because i got the battery less than a year ago. Thank

The first graph shows nearly 100% awake and 100% screen on. Were you playing a game? 2 hours of intense gaming will bring nearly any battery to its knees...

Have you tried just basic stock kernal and ROM? Also set the brightness to auto so it saves you battery life if you're going to be using it for texting a lot and YouTube. Another thing would be let the phone die it all the way to 0% and then fully charge it til it's 100% or until it says Charged. If you keep charging it form 25% for example and then take it out at 78% and start using it again, the battery life will slowly decrease. It ruins the battery that way.
Regards,
Bomboholic
My battery is close to 2 years old as well, it will only last 2 hours if I on the screen and data.
Get yourself an Anker battery.

Charging issue

When I switched to CM12 my battery life got worse and my tablet now takes many hours to fully charge. I've had poor battery life before but this charging issue is new. I don't know how to troubleshoot the battery but I'm wondering ROM or bad battery?
EDIT: Also wondering why the screen has such high use. I do have it bright with a 2 min shutoff but I always have. This is a change for the screen to be consuming most of the resources. I have no idea how to compensate other than squinting at a dark screen. Could this be related to the reason it takes so long to charge?
