i wouldn't. just wait for a developer to post a rooted version of the update and flash it in recovery. ive heard root + ota updates are kinda a hit or miss as to whether it will toast you or not
I'm having trouble too help?

Yeah locking the bootloader would work, you need to return 100% to stock though, so factory software it was shipped with, I don't know whether you still have that or if you can grab it from the official sony site, there is probably a copy of it in the forums

Running PC Companion with an unlocked bootloader is lethal. You could wait it out like PhxkinMassacre said,or skip the reverting to stock, but the bootloader is a must lock.

If I want the new OTA, I could just do it manually which would cause me to loose my root correct? Then I could just use the One click new method to reroot, unlock, and gain recovery? Last question would be would I then be able to put my rom(saved in recovery back on the phone with the new build??? Thx

If you're rooted now, I'm sure there is the new OTA out there that can be flashed. That's all you gotta do if you wanna run the stock OTA. But you won't gain anything by unrooting, taking the OTA and then rerooting... just a waste of time.

Oh Ok...I gotcha. Thx for your help. I was under the impression its better to take the OTA directly from verizon instead of just flashing the file in recovery...Thx again for your help. Much appreciated.

deleted because may cause soft brick situation. thanks
I would've flashed Scotts stock root deodexed vrbmf1 he posted. If you haven't tried taking the ota, flashing the stock root deodexed ROM is a much faster and more beneficial way to go and gives you init.d, theme support etc.

so I am still on the stock rom I never flashed a new rom be4 on this s5
I don't mind the stock rom but have some questions.
I am being prompted for 2 updates!
1 is the software update
2 is the security policy update
what happens if I accept them? will I loose root?
& what should i do and if so could I remove the nag?

If you accept the updates and if it goes through, yes, you would lose the root.
Are you sure you are completely rooted? Because you shouldn't be receiving those update notifications if you are.

Yes! Sorry for that. I did some research & if you update you will lose root provided you are using the stock recovery & bootloader. If u are using a different one,ur phone might not boot after updating. If you are using a stock bootloader I suggest u update, lose root & root again

Yes, you will lose root for sure because that's what happened to my friend. However, after update I re-rooted for him. I know it's tedious but that's what you have to go through.
Or u can download the ota file in zip format & flash using recovery. It'll work as long as you are using stock ROM with no modifications. & most likely you won't lose root

I don't think so. After update the phone might not boot & keep going into recovery. I suggest u flash stock recovery & then update & fish twrp again. Or you could try your luck and update & let's see what happens.

Check your Update setting on your S4. Update is 392.48 MB download.
Sure I will loose ROOT. It is downloading Now.
It updates to 4.4.4. Not a whole lot added but bloat. Did make the phone more snappier after the update though.

Apparently it adds the Chinese language pack.

ahh, yea, i can't take the OTA because of root and all that jazz, will anyone make this into a zip?
Can anyone answer this dumb question. I unrooted via SU app with the intention of trying to take the update, then just root again via recovery. I rebooted after the unroot script and was stuck in bootloop until i rerooted.... way?

Pretty simple actually.....
This is what I did.
1. Flash newest update via Odin, reboot
2. Re-root... That's pretty much it.
