Voice commands review - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can somebody review the voice commands feature on the one plus.
I have a motox and this is one of the most important features for me in purchasing a new phone. To Be able to give commands with the screen off.
None of the professional reviews have really gone in depth about this feature

Yep, it works just like the Moto X. It's the same feature. :good:

Does it work with headphones with mic?

Was that a pre-production unit?

Voice command doesn't seem to be very reliable, at least from what I've seen.
The motox seems better

yeah qualcomms "hey snapdragon" command is useless. but they did include it. dont use it i guess.

I think Moto X is far better. At least until this point. Does Opo deep sleep when listening is on?

Where are the settings for this so I can train it? US version.....

Vlingo is pretty good, but the in-car feature drains the battery fast. Overall though it does voice recognition really well.

(Q) Bluetooth stack?

I have an eclipse/tomtom car stereo that uses a cellular connection via bluetooth for updates/traffic jam warnings/camera locations and realtime detours+handsfree and even text messaging on the touchscreen indash. All these features and more worked with my $59 boost mobile prepay phone and my blackberry. The only thing that works with my sgs4g is the handsfree. It tells me these bluetooth services are not supported. Is there any way to get support for these features/services? Also Is bluetooth stack the proper term for what I'm looking for?

As I remember my TomTom from several years ago, it needed the equivalent of Bluetooth data tethering. It it pretty rare on newer phones, at least the US ones I've seen. I suspect that carrier specs to the manufacturer have someone to do with it.
If you knew what Bluetooth profile you needed, you might be able to rework the Framework to support it, but I haven't seen a lot of requests.

Maybe I don't fully understand your needs but surely almost every phone on the planet has a built in answering system linked with their provider.

No. The operators provide only voice mail options.
A good auto answering software / appn, I doubt, is available.

AutomateIt

Hi everyone,

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwyLDEsIkF1dG9tYXRlSXQubWFpblBhY2thZ2UiXQ..
it can do A LOT of automation like when leave home turn off wifi, turn on bluetooth, vibrate...etc
I really like it. Its like an enhanced version of avatar's weebo app.
Enjoy !
I like the "lost my phone" rule a lot.
You text "lost my phone" to your phone and it sends an sms back to sender with last GPS and network location.
Cool!
You can also get NFC tags and do this too. I am going to buy NFC tags and try it out.

Either. They are basically the same rule made by different users.

What TV Control Options?

Thinking on getting rid of my Note 3 and getting the M8. I wanted to know if it has the ability to change the source on a TV and navigate through the menus with arrow/enter buttons or something? Also, can you control it from the notification shade? See the attached pictures of what the Note 3 has.
Thanks!

Yes it controls my Samsung plasma and led TV. Input controls all work. No on the notifications screen.
It does have a feature for the notification pull down. IMO, the HTC remote app is far superior to that of Samsung's watch on.

LOL Yes, it does. And a very cool HTC TV app to control it. I find it funny this is now a huge deal...I remember doing this with my OLD Palm Treo 650 back in the day...and then the backlash for a long time on how an IR blaster is useless yada yada and phone companies got rid of them basically and now it has come full circle.
Also funny, off point, with all the tablets/swivel screens/fold back laptops/tablets now are the rage. I remember back in 2003 my company bought a bunch of these Toshiba Protégé laptops, which apparently was a decade ahead of it's time as those things never took off.
This is true , I have both phones gn3 and m8 ,but tv remote on m8 is for more superior to gn3 . Controls my fios Motorola eve,Samsung smart tv and Sony surround sound . Like a champ

The tv app on the M8 is loads better than watch on, on my S4. Better range as well. It pulls all the channels from direct tv.. kinda like the Netflix layout. The volume rockers control volume on tv and you don't have to move from the attached screenshot to select channels. So, you can go to a particular channel and not have to " go back" to continue browsing...I'm actually using this. Every time I think this device couldn't get better, something pops out lol. Love it.
