Voice Input Frustrations

I just cannot seem to figure this out..
I cannot get voice input to work on anything other than the S Voice program that came pre-installed on my phone.
I would like to use it when I text but the stock keyboard does not seem to have the microphone icon on it anymore. Now before you jump and say "I got this" I already know about the hold the settings icon in the lower left and choose the microphone. Only when I do it I dont get 4 icons, I only get 3 and the microphone isnt one of them.
I installed SKYVI from the Play Store and it tells me that my device does not support voice input. Well clearly it does, S Voice works so I checked all my settings but cannot get it working anyplace else. Same thing with the Swiftkey keyboard... it has a microphone icon but when pressed, nothing happens.
This is an Odin rooted stock ROM, nothing special about it at all. Anyone else ever see this before?

Does it work with Google Now? Have you tried the new Swype beta http://beta.swype.com/? This works for me but my not my keyboard of choice, messageease

I dont know what Google Now is.. didnt see any mention of it in the Play store..
I did find this out though.. a lot of these voice apps use Google's "Voice Search" app. The Play store says I have it installed but when I search my phone I dont see it. The "My Android Apps" section of the Play store also says I have it installed on my device, and also mentions its a system app of some kind. But I dont have it, and cant install it from the Play store because its "already installed". I think if I can find the APK for this program, I can probably solve my problem? Anyone have a copy or know where I can get it?

I went online and did some searches away from XDA and found out what Google Now is.. looks pretty slick..
But I also managed to fix my voice input problem. Reading about Google Now got me to thinking.. I opened Root Explorer and went in to System/Apps and there was an APK of something called VoiceSearchStub.apk .. it had a different icon than I was expecting but I went ahead and installed it. I now have a Voice Search icon installed and the voice input on the keyboard now works. But for the life of me I do not know why it was not there in the first place!

google is not working !!!!!

on my note 10.1 google or any site that is relative to google is not working and the same with facebook , when i try to access google or facebook it send me to google page that ask u to download google chrome , if tried to type any search in the address bar it says to me " web page is not available" , and the market isn't working too it says no connection and the same on youtube app , meanwhile any other site or app that needs internet is working fine .
the same problem in on my mobile (n97) and happend on my laptop (hp) but i succeded to fix it on my lab but i don't know how i did it .
pleeeeease any one know how to fix this i can't use my tablet any more :crying:

Same problem on two different platforms. The router or isp, reset router.

i rested the router but it didn't work !! could it be any kind of virus on my laptop that moved to my note and mobile and caused this probleme??
and should the hard reset and format do the trick

A couple of days ago, Google updated Google Search. That updated screwed up lots of Google stuff including Google Search & Google+ on my device.
If you uninstall the Google Search update, you may get the functionality back of Search and other Google Apps.

Settings>applications>all>Google search and uninstall updates. Clear data and cache too.

There is something definitely broken. It is almost impossible to access google.fi (by a tablet or a laptop). google.com works somehow or not and been forced to use yahoo/bing on last days.

Hey whats up guys,i have two questions in this thread, so basically I used my device for months and I was just clicking around when I found that I can hide my movies banner which is kinda annoying to me, so what I did is went to the three dots clicked settings and that option is transparent and unable to click it. My other problem is that I had my phone rooted then dumbly unrooted it, what happened is that I couldnt sign in my google accounts and cant open my google apps like google play store or others witch there is a massage saying cant establish a reliable connection to the server. Now this sucks. If you can please help me to enable the banner button or my account log in I would appreciate that.

Phone search not working on lollipop

Does anyone have a solution for this.
When I go into google now, I can't search my contacts or apps, or anything on my phone.
I'm completely stock.
Here is screen shot of the phone search settings.

Solved by finding a slightly newer version of the Google search apk, and installing it.

How to install Google Services and Google Account on Huawei Mate 8.

I have bought huawei Mate 8 (4/64) chineese version on ibuygou.com for review in my country . I wish they had installed google play services etc but they didnt.
I have tried with Google installer - it didn't help (method the same as in xiaomi devices). Next I have tried to install google play services.apk and google play.apk from apkmirror, but after I have written my email and password, there was written that there is no connect or sth like this - try again later. I checked account menagment in settings if I could login in google account, but there was no such option.
So my question is: Has anyone method to install google play, google services on this smartphone? I hope that anyone can help me, I will be so grateful !

Open HiStore (The Huawei app store) and search google, the first little banner that pops up click it, there should now be a list of the google apps. Install them. Change some permissions and you should be good.

Also install the app in the internal storage in case you have a micro sd installed.

ok so the solution here works great but when downloading larger apps such as zombies run or NFS No limits the playstore would force close and download fails without warning.
has anyone experienced this? could it be to do with the download manager?

Mine had the same problem before i changed the rom to the international one. And i know some people having the same problem.. Still no solution...

no problem here with large apps on the international rom i guess its worth trying to flash the L29 rom...

Why do people say there is no solution?!
I've seen some guy encounter this issue and then find a solution for it, and now it works perfectly for him.
Something to do with system app and permissions i think was all.

Appreciate this. I've tried trusting the entire google play store app which should allow everything but that didn't help. cleared data and stuff + reboot - nothing.
But seeing how someone did manage to solve it, I will give it another go before flashing. Thanks

solved. The UI is sort of confusing because I needed to bring up another (native?) permissions manager in order to enable storage permissions. could be a security feature.. no idea.
either search for "permissions" inside settings, or reach it by going to Apps > Advanced.

I'm planning to get the Chinese version (only one for now that has 4gb RAM and higher storage) and my question is does the phone come with English out of the box? Thanks

check with the shop ure getting it from, there are definitely multilanguage china roms

Sometimes it can get a bit confusing but im glad you were able to solve it.

I just cannot get google accounts to work
I have installed google play services, google play store, gmail, google contact sych onbmy chinese huawei mate 8. But when i try to add a google account, by givingbit the email, password and sms verification code, and after accepting the terms of servicd and policy, it gives couldnt sign in and communication error with google server.

I had communications error but it was from doing something else. uninstalled google stuff..the whole lot. reboot, reinstalled, and it was all good from there.

Thank you. I reset the phone and install Google play store fro hiapp store. And everything works. I can add Google account and install all other Google apps.

I had the same problem, fixed by finding this thread
