You can at least add double tap to sleep on the Status bar functionality through the double tap to sleep xposed module. For me i use the fingerprint scanner to wake up the device and double tap the status bar to make the phone sleep as i don't like pressing the power button too much.
Hello, I'm using custom 5.1 Extreme rom V 1.3 on my JiaYu S3 - this phone is very fast and run app takes about and less than one second.
But I have problem with gesture to wake up phone (double tap). Mobile wake but it takes about 2 seconds. Do you know how to wake up immediately or what can be reason for so delay? Wake up for power button is immediate.

Yes, it does have double tap to wake and also double tap to sleep, I use it all the time, but I don't use the ambient display feature (useless). However, please note that it does not unlock the phone, only wakes it up, you will then need to enter the PIN or fingerprint.

The closest thing I have gotten working is double tap to sleep (via Nova Launcher settings). But I don't think there's any way to enable double tap to wake on this phone.
You can double tap the finger print sensor to wake the phone...... But not the screen.
