Ir blaster app and OTA tv? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

So I found the idea of this application to be quite cool. However the guide really does not work for me. For example my channel 6 is actually 6-1 but the software will only let me re-program the guide to 6.1, 6.1 does not work on my tv...
I is there something I am missing or is the application just not compatible with OTA tv?

there are other apps out there that work with the ir blaster so you might try them but i doubt this is possible in HTC's

i programmed mine to the digital signal you get with an antenna. I have channels like that too (2-1, 19-1) but it has no issue changing the channel. Maybe redo the setup and look into the other options during?

I'm using smart remote control so that I can control multiple electronics from different part of the house

Interesting how do you get the guide channels to map to 6-1 instead of 6 or 6.1? For some reason the app does not allow dashes so I am not able to get it to work. seems like a silly problem to have like a 1 minute fix for any devs...

i just went through the setup for my OTA using my zip code. im saying maybe try redoing that

Can you change your TV settings so that if you try like channel 6 it automatically goes to 6.1? Most digital TVs I've used do that automatically now that the analog signals are gone.

i just checked my app and my HD channels list as 16.1 but my LG TV needs 16-1. Still, it transmits the signal correctly. Idk why you aren't having any luck..

You can manually program the dash button into the htc tv app using the button setup feature. Replace the . button and use it as a dash.

Streaming Live TV

Hey guys,
I've been trying to consolidate links for streaming live tv for a while now and I decided to scrap together a simple web page with all the links. These will work "out of the box" on wm6 devices but 4 of them seem to have problems on 2003 and some wm5 devices without some sort of additional player. Let me know what you think.

i can`t believe nobody else has acknowledged what you have done !! good work fella i will be adding it to my faves. Keep adding to the list
ps i also have this working in tcpmp

Wow, very nice. Thanks for contributing some intelligent content - a refreshing change from all "WOW - Stream YouTube" posts. I've added this to my list of frequently accessed Favorites.
excellent tv site contribution....have definately added to my favs!!!
Good job with that site....I wish I knew more about these streaming tv sites....I would love to be able to see more local news on my device - I wonder how long before all news sites have streaming video for handhelds.
Is there a way to search for more sites?? What should I be searching for besides "internet tv"? I see a few of your sites you are directing us to start with a url of "MMS" is this what I need to be searching for??
well searching for feeds is kinda tough. If you come across an in page windows media player type feed then that will work. Send me the link and I can put it on the site. As for file types to search, you can try .asx or look for links that start with mms://. I try to set aside some time on my Sundays to search out new links on top of that.
Wow, this is nice. Also adding to my favorites. Thanks man!
Hey guys, I have upgraded my server and I'm try to drive up traffic to the site. If you have enjoyed my work and have a digg account then please click the digg it link at the bottom of my site or click here to help spread the word. Thanks for you help and your feedback guys!
hey man love the idea im having trouble though i cant stream any of the sites over my 3g on at and t i can on wifi coudl this be that proxy on at and t? i dono much about it.
No it should work. Try it in another area, it might just be your signal strength.
on nickolodian i got unspecified error on cnn it just buffered at 0 forever on fox just buffered at 0 for awhile and then the server is busy or is not responding try again later same on comedy chanel...
any way im sure its a phone side problem not your site but help would be apreciated what im noticing is the 3g icon is switching to hspda for a second then goes back to 3g so it looks like its not even trying to use data
sorry i forgot to add that i was trying your sugestion to try it in a diffrent area
Great site...I really am glad that I can keep up to date. hopefully son we can localize some channels. Just out of curiousity, how do I make me default video player the tcpmp? And if it really matters. Thanks
Flyguy, You can change the settings in TCPMP to open mms at the very bottom of the file associations but it seems like a lot of people are have problems viewing these feeds in TCPMP. Give it a shot and let me know if you have better luck.
thanks
thanks for putting this together for us. I've added it to my favorites as well.

I'm using AT&T with an 8525 (Hermes). What are your connection settings? Try setting both connections to MEdiaNet and then disable the proxy. If you have the proxy enabled you will not be able to stream TV through that connection. About the only thing the AT&T proxy will pass is HTTP traffic.
I'm also using TCPMP v0.81 as my streaming player. Works fine for me over an Edge connection. A little slow, but tolerable in most cases. Just had to set the file association in the settings.

Remote spotify from mobile

Is ther any chanse to remote spotify from my mobile ? like i play music from spotify on my computer. And then i can change track, vol up/down from my htc hd2. Is this possible ? Thanks fore help!
I wouldnt mind that either, I got G-remote set up working for winamp but not sure how to make it work with spotify...
use remote desktop
That is a possibility, and that is what i am doing at the moment. But shouldnt there be a way to get g-remote to tell the "next song"-command (etc) to Spotify instead of Winamp?...
I figured out how to do that with one of the tutorials on their page (g-remote's)... So i suggest you look there lovenvik..

Check out the options in the windows mobile rdp application... you can specify whether sound is played on the remote computer or on your device.

Are you using the one you can download from ther website or are you using the xda verision?
I tryed to install the one that xda have but i cant install the cab file (WM6BTPAN) get error code:1062 so it dont work fore me. The real verision from gsoftware are working thow, but its just a demo.
I tried posting this a couple of days ago but since in included urls then i could not post it. But I'm rewriting it now to tell you what to search for instead
I am using server version 1.3.3.71 and client version 1.3.2.96 (although i had to use an older one to add profiles since that one wont let me).
gbmsoftware.com (homepage of the developers) has a videotutorial under their FAQ called "How to add custom program to GMedia profiles". It shows how to make VLC controllable but works just as well with using the key shortcuts that Spotify use.
Just google "spotify keyboard shortcuts" and you should have no trouble finding it.
Same goes for lets say MPC... (my favourite)
Hope that helps
The demo version should work to try out, but getting your hands on a registered version might help... That's what I did

XBMC official remote now available in the Market

Made available today after a year or so of development by the great team of developers at XBMC the official remote is now available for download. They did a GREAT job and the remote works flawlessly on my EVO. Just wanted to let everyone know or at least the XBMC users out there!
Official Post at the xbmc website as well as forums.

Thanks for the heads up! I've been using betas for a while and it's nice to have it auto-update now.
ya its pretty cool, if you get a text you can set it to show the txt msg on the tv screen...and it pauses when you get a call and shows caller id on the tv also...
it rocks man.
all via wifi or 3g/4g

Really? Interesting. I had issues getting the remote to work too, if you goto the forums for xbmc in the faq is tells you how to get it working, I followed the steps come to find out I changed the event port on accident from 9777 oops, works flawlessly. Previous builds were a tad laggy but this build has been great.

Just head over to our forum and we'll help you.
If play/pause isn't working it is most likely the event server. Read our FAQ or setup guide for the most common errors
I looked on the site and didn't see a guide on how to get this to work with your tv, anyone know where it is?
Mine doesnt lag at all.

I have to disagree - it's a massive fail in the scheme of things!
The iPad streams are better quality than the Flash streams we have to put up with, and the BBC could easily make them compatible with all Android devices.
In addition, not being able to use the app over 3G is poor when you consider that you can from the "web" client.

Dave

i agree with you in regards to only having it on wifi, they should update it to be able to use it via 3g but then again if you are trying to view videos they would work better on wifi than 3g but but its early on Android so we will have to wait and see..
I have watched 2 programmes and they have worked flawlessly.
I am well happy.

Yes, but I'd rather have the option of watching a slightly lower quality stream over 3G, than no stream at all when you're not near a WiFi hotspot.
The irony is that there were 2 perfectly good 3rd party iPlayer solutions (BeebPlayer and myPlayer) that did (and still do!) work over both 3G and WiFi using the 3GP streams intended for Nokia phones, but the BBC had them removed from the Market.
What they have replaced them with is a Flash based solution which only works on ARM7 class devices thus shutting off a good percentage of Android users.

Dave

I agree that the ipad version stream is higher quality than the Android. Bit pissed off with the beeb for that... also as mentioned there are some oddities with presentation when using it on the tab. Hopefully these things will be addressed soon. Not a bad first effort though, and useful for the live tv feed if nothing else.

can anyone help with keeping the iplayer app running?
On my 10.1, it opens a web browser. When i play something like a radio program, you need to keep on that page. If you navigate away from the page or even lock the tablet, the iplayer stops. This means you have to just leave the tablet displaying the page your listening too. This will obviously run down the powqer quicker. Surely you can multitask on the 10.1?

Sounds great, but I think setting this up might be a tad harsh for general use (firewalls etc). I would suggest building an intermediary platform (web service) to communicate to. That way you can have a very easy setup. For instance, you can use the Google login service to identify yourself from the phone and the notification program and that's it then. No IP's or port numbers as most users don't know what that is anyway.
But for the techies, good start.
Cheers

Using bluetooth maybe ? PC as a handset (would have to be paired before)
I understand then distance range would come as a limit for many use cases, but could still be enjoyable instead of standing up to pick up the phone !
