cant s-off - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I can't s-off my HTC one x, I tries firewater, rumrunner and moonshine but all of them fail to work. My htc one x is running 4.1.1 and has hboot 2.14.0000. It is perm rooted and has been unlocked through HTC dev.

You haven't provided enough information. Just saying they fail to work is the same as saying nothing. Exactly what happens? How do they fail? Do you have SuperCID? Have you tried Facepalm s-off?

I have supercid i did it by modifying the cid file with a hex editor then pushing it to the device. Firewater chugs all the bottles but still no buzz as it says after many retries. rumrunner cant download update package even though i rebooted pc and turned off windows and antivirus i tried each many times. As with moonshine i couldnt find a compatible version for me device the only ones listed are the htc one,one s, one vx, one s, one sv, htc evo, droid dna and htc first. Isint facepalm not compatible for my device? i could only find for one s,one xl and droid dna. i hope i provided enough info if not just ask for more.

I'm pretty sure you do have the HTC One XL, judging by the fact that you're posting in the One XL forum, and by your hboot version. What are your bootloader details?

ENG HBoot 1.09.2006 (Engineer HBoot)

I know the ENG HBoot 1.09.2006 was out there for a little while when trying to get S-OFF for our phone but since then the link has now died so I'm putting out this request for someone who has it (theres a few of you out there) to share it to us all in here...
wrong section?
I believe he is trying to get it from someone, then he will put it in the first post along with instructions and the like. Instead of making 2 threads. Plus, devs will probably see this a hell of a lot sooner than if it was in Q&A.

If you don't know what it is, don't worry about it. It allows some extra commands in fastboot, I believe.
How can you check if you have that hotboot? I have 1.09 with S-off, Network Unlocked, Rooted, and bootloader unlocked.

We currently all have SHIP HBoot's, we are looking for ENG HBoot...
IIRC the only people with ENG HBoots were those that had factory S-OFF devices. Pretty sure there are partition dumps containing them somewhere in the S-OFF thread.

I understand why you put this in the dev section but I can not leave it here moving to general section.
I seriously hope this is it... I just spent about 15 scouring the old S-OFF thread and found this link to a dropbox folder with a bunch of old dumps of S-OFFed devices way back when, I believe the one in the EVITA S-OFF folder is the ENG hboot one although tbh I have no idea which one of the partitions on our phone holds the hboot. Hope this sorta helps..

An eng hboot is pointless to a regular user, all it has is extra fast boot commands
Slithered from my HTC One X+
Here is my archive of all the documents and s-off information for when I was working on the XL. I am currently busy so you'll have to check through the folder and see if any of the s-off partition folders have eng hboot. I know I had it at one point but don't remember if I put it in my archive. Let me know if you don't find it and I'll search for it later on through the rest of my files.

thanks it is a great guide
but i dont have mmcblk0p4 and Latest 2.20 firmware ruu
You only need your old mmcblk0p4, if you want to change back to the AT&T CID.
If you just want to unroot, just relock the bootloader, and run the 2.20 RUU (assuming you rooted on 2.20 or earlier firmware).
Don't run the 3.18 RUU, as doing so with S-on and SuperCID will brick the phone. Also, if your bro ever tries to install the Jellybean OTA or RUU, it will brick the phone (with S-On and SuperCID). The way to prevent this from happening, would be to manually change the CID back (you can look in Development for how to do it).

I believe if you have SuperCID or S-off, it will. Otherwise, no.
Also, if the hboot version of the RUU is lower than what is on the phone, it will fail to install.
And to reiterate, if you are SuperCID, and S-on, running some RUUs may brick you. So be careful.
Is there an RUU available for your version? If so, the easiest thing to do is just relock the bootloader and run the right RUU. Since you do not have the AT&T version, its probably not SuperCID. Although I would still verify, to be safe.

Need CID or carrier version. The radio is the only thing useful there, and that particular radio was used on several firmware versions/RUUs.
Might be RUU for Telus Australia 3.17.841.2, but its not certain:

[Q] Hboot questions

Hey Guys,
I'm currently with hboot 1.11.0000
Here's what my bootloader says:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
EVITA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.11.0000
RADIO-9.32a.32.09.29

I apparently need to update my phone to 3.18 to install H8rift's CM10.1, but After running the RUU installer, I got an error 159.
Isn't there a way I can update my hboot through the Android SDK?

It's not just the hboot that needs updating the idea other things in the RUU as well. Which RUU did you try running?

Wrong it needs the 3.17/3.18 firmware files, it is not about hboot.214, just the same as the touch screen driver issue was never hboot 2.14.
RUU your phone. Easiest method is to supercid, s-off and then RUU.
You will likely want access to a Windows machine at some point during that.
Is it possible to just flash the OTA JB update instead of ruu? I already have supercid, s-off and unlocked

Yes.. but you need to extract the recovery.img from the update zip file. Then fastboot flash the stock recovery (after making sure the ota is on your storage) then boot to bootloader. Then recovery. Press volume up and press and release power to access recovery menu. Then pick the ota and flash
