Just wanted to start off and say a BIG THANKS for LinuxBozo and his amazing infuse mod which lets us use the other samsung roms (JVQ restricted )
I have been experimenting ALOT with various roms and thought i would share some of which i have tested out so far, the only one which gave me some issues was Sensation 2.0 , seems like when you reboot, sometimes you get no netwrok, then reboot, and icons are missing, so its a question.
Obviously this isnt really an OFFICAL rom for the Infuse, but id like to know if anyone else has had nice experience or recommendations for use with this dude's rom.

Just wanted to throw it out there I ran a JVP based ROM without issue for an hour or so. The only thing I had to do was add my APN settings back & all was well. Someone may need to test this a bit more but my experience went well.
Does the darky rom support HSPA+?

Hellraiser uses the same Rogers RIL that Infused v2 does, so probably not. (RIL is one of the things that gets swapped out.)
It's often hard to tell for sure because many frameworks won't show HSPA+ even if the RIL/modem are operating in that mode. Hell, even our original Froyo ROMs were broken in that way - they displayed UMTS when in HSPA+ mode. (UMTS is plain vanilla 3G.)
GingerReal - V7.1.4 JVQ
Been running GingerReal V7.1.4 JVQ with Infusion GB kernel and I must say it's snappy. I have not had a single problem with anything. And from what I read Quadrant scores don't mean much, but I got a 3500 OC at 1.6. without Stagefright. I did'nt know Stagefright was til I Googled it. But my phone is very fast and I am very happy. Which ROM did you test for JVP , i might give it a whirl, i finally finished going through all those roms, The Vibrant rom wasnt very exciting, and seemed to lack the extended power menu drop down which has Reboot, recovery download mode and such, thats a big thing for me.
Darky was my favorite so far,I might try Sensation. If anyone wants to test out a couple JVP roms and try adding in the APN settings, lets see what comes up and post which rom you tested.

BTW, the default behavior in Sensation is no extended power menu, but if you use the app "Theme Settings (included in the ROM) you can change this.
As to the other issues - that's a new one, I haven't seen it before.

I chose it because I saw that the ROM included the background effect from the SGSII, which while I have the SGSII & this feature seems to throw my photos to the way over saturated side - its more appealing for home screen settings and every day use since everything just looked almost wet or gooey. But the setting didn't work I imagine a kernel conflict, but I'm sure this could be built into one of our ROMS later and I wouldn't mind helping out with putting it together.
Overall I thought this ROM was a little laggy for the phone, I'm sure there are others out there that could run MUCH better or smoother.
I find it funny that we get a stock phone and find it boring so we flash a brand new phone to something completely different within an hour and when the next phone comes out we want their stock stuff so we can see how it is on OUR phone...HAHAHA -addicted

I think those are controls for Voodoo Color which:
1) Is extremely difficult to implement on our device (significantly different screen)
2) Is not necessary on our device - our screen fixes most if not all of the problems VC was intended to fix.

Yes sir, I believe you are exactly right. I normally don't like over saturation, but on a HUGE screen it looked great with some gooey gingerbread green stuff around it. My photography looked horrible especially HDR shots, worth it though. The colors on the SGSII and this phone are pretty different tho. But a lot to do with the same resolution on a smaller screen. The screen on the Infuse is a big (no pun) factor that held me to it rather than the SGSII

i as well got the same results, but did you have a problem with the modem. mine would work for about 3 min and then i would no longer have network connection.
i had to change the modem to get it work really smooth, but yes this set is pretty good.

Man! I'm so upset. I flashed this ROM twice, but it would not boot. Did you flash from stock? I don't know what I did wrong.

Okay heres me scenario, hope it helps understand.
1) started off with phone already rooted and such and previously had Infused V2.00 full., Downloaded a JVQ rom ( like Darky's ) , and then downloaded Linux Bozo's rom/mod ) Put both of the zips on the ROOT of the internal SD .
2) backup info and boot into Red recovery.( Shut off device, then hold Vol - and + while pressing power ), release power and continue holding both volume keys).
3) Perform the following
Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache partition, Wipe Dalvik Cache
Install zip from SD card and select the ROM you want to use
Do install from SD card again and this time select the Linux Bozo zip
4) Reboot and you will be in your rom after 10 minutes ( be patient, it takes time ). If you want better performance, install the Infuse GB Kernel. Get it here

I just followed the exact instructions the OP posted up above. With 1 mishap, when I downloaded what I thought was the ROM....I only got the lock-screen (what happens when you read things way too fast & think you know what you did) which I already downloaded and flashed
I mounted the SD card while in recovery and pushed the file containing the ROM over to the phone - flashed it - flashed LinuzBozo's stuff - rebooted & things went well all I had to do was add APN's back.
I really like my current set up BUT I'll probably find something else, before I load the ROM I want I'll run this again with a JVP base and see how things go & defiantly let you guys know. Now I'm curious why it doesn't work for other people.

I think sometimes people either have a bad flash or don't properly wipe data. Same reason lots of people randomly had problems with Infused. (I haven't tried JVP myself though.)
Well, i just finished wrapping up my favorite roms, and i keep jumping between the Sensation rom, and Darky's Rom .
BUT!
I always data wipe, clear cache, factory reset
Idk if this helps, but i saw theres a new Linuz BETA 6 , perhaps this might help problems that a few have been going through.
In closing, i really hope more ROMS designed for the Infuse come fast , i got a feeling with this new mod there will be many to come

This is a very good point. The data wipe is vital for the Infuse no matter what. I have tried it with and without the wipe & all sorts of very strange things go wrong at random. Market apps wont download - Errors when using data - Youtube errors - issues with email. Each time I did it different ones would act up too, never the same.
Full Wipe so far has fixed it without failure
*Edit - Full for me same as prasadudwadia said above - data, cache, and factory reset.

A little of both. I got a promotion at work that ate up a lot of my free time, plus I fell into a sweet deal on the HP Touchpad. It has been a lot of fun putting Android on a device like that. For the last few months, I've been using my phone as... well, a phone. I just got soooo many emails and requests for me to make some new videos for the XT720 that I felt a level of obligation to return. I really enjoyed this group of people and I am glad to be back into the mix of things. I talked to Mioze about a few things that are coming down the tubes, so hopefully there is more to come!

You don't need swap. I have yet to find a value to having it. At first, I did it, along with everyone else, but never saw an increase that was worth the trouble. I don't like having to use a computer every time I need to reboot.
Trust me, the phone is more stable and easier to use without swap. It's much better on battery life too, IMHO.
I agree. I have never used swap on a regular basis. Also I have ditched App2ext as well and just use native Froyo app2sd. I just don't have that many apps that I use regularly to take up space on a partition that I realy don't need. Would rather fill that up with music or videos. IMHO if you have an EXT partition greater than 350mb, you are just wasting space.
My current SD card is 100% FAT32. Works great.
What do you do with the apps? How many installed and how much space left?
I am just doing the same-no partitions and it is okay. Just trying a bit with ho!no!, Miui and the other ROMs ...

Yeah, in terms of apps and the space they take up, you can still use the native "Move to SD Card" option. It works fine with just a FAT partition.
There is also an app called Move2sd enabler that will move those apps that aren't set up with native. Nit sure if still in market or not but ill upload later on when I get home. Obviously though, no Widgets go on SD bc they wont work right, unless they have a widget pack designed for app2sd.

I made the process to install de cyanogenmod, but my TX720 have the upgrade 2.2 froyo´s cincinnati bell, then i flash my phone whit the RDS lite(only works in my windows XP:reconigze the file .sbf) the rdslite no works in my windows7(i do not why). I follow the video of the master reverendkjr to do the flash, then my mobile downgrade the 2.1update, now i realize the process to install cyanogenmod 6.3, and work wonderful, thank for your videos,again are the best!!!

I'm really missing alot of the features of CM that I got fond of on my old LG, tho, so am considering going to CM.
One thing that I really like about Bravo's rom is his LED Notification thing. Does CM 6.3 as listed in this thread have a similar LED notification for messages calls etc?
Also...if I did decide to go to CM 6.3, given that I followed your Open Recovery method..theoretically I should just be able to nandroid restore my 2.1, wipes etc, do a factory reset, and then continue on from where I departed from your tutorial, ie updating to 6.3...correct?

LED notifications aren't working yet in 6.3, but molohov's been working on it so we'll probably have it working in the next weeks. To install other ROMs, you don't reflash back to your 2.1--just (1) make a backup of your current ROM (2) install the new ROM and (3) factory reset.

Ok, sounds like a great development, really cool feature of Bravo`s.
I wish I had waited...I went back to my stock 2.1. Doing so highlighted a couple of things I guess I had second guessed: The icons for Ultimate Androot and System Recovery disappeared. Ok, so I just copied them back over and reinstalled their apks.
But..before I did that, once I had flashed back the stock...everything went back to how it was as I originally got it from Wind..if I used Androots `unroot` function, even the SuperUser app was removed and it looked like the phone was back to OEM...except...when I try to power down, there is that option to Reboot into Recovery. This says to me that Open Recovery wasn`t really removed just because I formatted my SD card, wiped everything imaginable and unrooted the phone...so how would I go about completely getting rid of Open Recovery if I absolutely had to..the flash back to stock brought everything even the logo and all back, so it looked good to go to warranty on the surface..
But at least I`m back to square 1, ready to try out these other versions 6.5, 7.1, etc

I'm not sure why you're seeing that menu in the shutdown--AFAIK it's hard to put it there in the first place on stock. The only way to truely get back to stock is by flashing a sbf and for all we know Motorola could be able to detect that too. Supposedly they haven't been too big of jerks about it. Unfortunately, we don't have the Wind sbf. Someone (S7ticky, I think) gave me a nandroid of a nearly-prestine Wind ROM. http://www.multiupload.com/ST9FEG833N I'm pretty sure it's rooted and has the OpenRecovery bootstrap, though. The other problem is that OpenRecovery automatically reinstalls the bootstrap after restoring a nandroid. See the discussion here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079714
You can also unroot/unbootstrap manually using adb from openrecovery or someone could make an update/script that does it if necessary.

I`m probably pushing it with all these questions but I got really interested in SuperCharger and the related discussion...and my eyes started to water reading zepplinrox op..I`d like to overclock, I think, to at least a point of normal stability..will SuperCharger help with RAM I dont want to get clogged up, and is there a slightly less confusing guide for usage with say CM6.3 or 7.1...how to install etc..do I have to do partitions with SuperCharger

Hi everyone, I had a problem with my previous nexus s (I have since gotten a working replacement) and I was wondering where exactly I messed up so in the future I can avoid this
Here is what I did on my previous phone:
1. I flashed ics onto my device from the ota update package from androidcentral, it was 4.0.3. (This worked great and I had it on my phone for 2-3 months before I tried the next steps.)
2. I rooted my device successfully using the guide at nexusshacks.
3. I also flashed TWRP recovery (fastboot) and superuser using the above guide/links
4. When I would turn off my phone it would boot to a screen with a red triangle and an opened android bot. So what I would have to do is flash twrp recovery everytime I turned the phone on just to get it to work.
5. What I wanted to do was keep the stock rom but still have twrp recovery without it making me reflash it on every boot. So I clicked install and tried to flash the stock rom (update package from the link in step 1) with twrp recovery. It then turned off my phone and hard bricked it. I couldn't turn it on anymore and a new battery didn't fix it.
I was able to get a replacement now and I was just wondering at which step did I go wrong? I THINK that I should have wiped my cache before I tried to reflash the stock rom but maybe I'm way off base here. This is why I posted a question here so hopefully some of you guys can help.
I did think about posting in another thread, but I didn't wanna threadjack or anything... and his problem also seemed a bit different then mine. Also, sorry about not being able to provide the specific links it won't let me post them until I've posted 8 times.
I don't know for sure but team win recovery has been reported to corrupt the device's efs directory. I've even had problems myself using clockwork recovery. I've moved on to razor recovery and haven't looked back.
This is the most flash-friendly phone I've ever owned, and razor recovery rivals amon ra (which was awesome on my g1 and evo). I really think it may have just been the recovery you were using... Somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

I had once corrupted one of the partition. I fixed to by flashing stock recovery and stock rom.
Use adam outler's unbrickable mod tool. It can be found in android development section.

That's interesting about twrp... I didn't know that. Truth be told, the only reason I went for it over other ones like clockwork mod was because the UI looked pretty nice and easy to use. Also the guide I followed at nexusshacks used that, so I wanted to stay consistent with it.
jishnu7, it's a little late for that now however as I actually have already received a working replacement from my carrier, but in the future if something ever does go wrong (hopefully not) I will definitely check that out.
The main thing I'm wondering is if it messed up because I tried to reflash the stock rom essentially over top itself (was hoping that by doing that, it would stop making me reflash twrp on every reboot) or if it was because I didn't wipe the cache before the flash.
Also, what I really wanted to do with my phone was to keep the stock rom but be able to overclock my cpu/gpu. I was hoping I could set different overclocks for different things (I've heard of kernels where you can downclock your phone when the screens off and have it overclocked slightly while you're using it, that would be something I'd like to have). I figured to install those kernels I would have to root my phone, replace stock recovery and install superuser so that's why I tried to do that. Once again, I'm pretty new to all this stuff for my phone.
Sorry to bump this thread again, but I would really like to know how I could avoid what happened to me for the future. I think it's because I flashed the stock 4.0.3 rom over itself (was hoping that by doing that twrp recovery would stay on the phone after reboot).
What I would like to do is install something like CM9 or AOKP and use the Matr1x kernel so I could undervolt or overclock my phone.

...I have some fault with my nexus device and I'm working on it,,and I did everything I could do...one of the thing out of those things was reflashing stock rom without wiping,and i did it quite a several times...my device never hard bricked,,however it was soft bricked for many times,,and i recovered from it
so reflasing a stock rom over stock rom, over ICS, over some themed custom rom,will not hard brick your device, you must be missing something none of your steps sounds suspecious
P.S:- pulling out battey while flashing something like this sounds suspecious, never tried though

I did everything I wanted to do all in one go. Rooted it, install CWM touch, install AOKP (went with milestone 4 cuz I heard newest build 29 has some bugs) + gapps and installed matr1x kernel 18.5 bfs.
The only thing I did different from last time was installing CWM touch (instead of twrp) and flashed aokp this time (instead of reflashing 4.0.3 over itself).
I would just avoid step 2 at all cost.

1. In my experience multitasking isn't a problem on either but I don't open a lot of tabs in my browser so could be different for you.
2. If you want good clean performance go with ICS. Jelly Bean roms are still more or less in beta.
3. As far as kernels go stick with the kernel built into the from unless it instructs you otherwise. Or if you are looking for some feature that one kernel offers that another doesn't.
4. Read, read, and then read the instructions again for whatever rom you are going to and follow them. Depending on where you are starting from you may have to do different things.
5. I've personally never paid attention to how much it uses the internal SD if at all. I do know that some ICS and Jelly Bean roms have potential to format your SD card during the flash so make sure you do a backup before moving forward.

I guess that is a good point. My lock screen buttons works but not 100% of the time. Originally the problem hit and it didn't work at all, now it works probably 70% of the time. I didn't remember that I would need it to get into recovery. Maybe I would need to buy a jig, but I guess I should flash now in case it stops working entirely down the line.
I'm also considering buying an S3 but it is quite expensive, at least $620 for it unlocked.
I had wanted to jump into JB because I was looking for decent performance and I don't think I'll be flashing a ton. I've got like 80 apps, tons of home screen stuff etc. that I don't want to restore many times. I just figured if JB is faster, I'd rather go with it.

A jig isn't the best bet because it forces it into download mode. If your button is currently working go for it. Jelly bean roms will eventually be the best thing out there but most of the roms for it haven't been perfected yet.
I have been on everything from 2.1 and up and I can tell you ICS is the best stable thing out there. At least in my opinion.

I've run a rooted 2.2, a rooted 2.3.5, and a few different ROM's, I find that the easiest to use so far is JB, depending on the ROM itself you may run into a few issues with battery drain, but it's not horrible. Multitasking is fine, but I have OS monitor and a RAM booster for quick mem clearing. The only problems that I've ran into with JB ROM's is that you have make sure the internal memory card is backed up, otherwise you'll lose everything you have on it.
I too have thought about getting a SG3, but after flashing the JB ROM, I think I'm satiated until I absolutely have to upgrade my phone.... meaning I'm probably going to stick with this one for another year or so depending on if I'm able to keep it in decent enough shape. For the CM10 ROM's, they've removed the /datadata folder so that may affect slight performance. I got used to it after flashing a ROM that kept the /datadata folder and noticed that it wasn't giving me enough space to work my usual programs on a consistent basis. But overall I'm content with the ROM I chose and the performance so far.

That is true but adb wouldn't help him much if he's stuck in a boot loop. That's when a functioning power button is important.

According to my expirience, ICS much better in multitasking, comparing with GB. ICS kernel consumes less RAM and more stable.

If you a going to install CM or AOKP, you defiantly have to install custom kernel. You will also have to install custom baseband (modem). I suppose, same goes to other roms.

Yes. RTFM for the rom you are going to flash. You will have to wipe data and cache, and maybe update bootrom.
I am reading stuff, but a lot of guides say 'Coming from GB' BUT they DO NOT say 'coming from stock', so I wasn't sure if those guides were applicable.
Will CM10 wipe my SD card?

Tried following that guide.
Heimdall links are all dead.
Opened Odin, downloaded speedmod kernel, figured I'd install it, then download the rom to SD card and go. I was pretty sure speedmod works with stock Captivate.
Flashed speedmod and now my phone is stuck on the Galaxy S boot screen.
So yeah...that sucked.
Now I'm trying to restore stock with Odin but the instructions don't even say how.
Yeah this is why I don't see myself flashing very often...
And that guide needs more detail.

I'm currently on the 8/13 nightly build of Helly Bean (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783064)
I can say that this particular ROM is ready for use as a daily driver. I've been using it for about a week now and haven't experienced any problems.
With that said, it is important to note that as said before, JB roms are still in beta, including this one. Also it is important to say that I did a completely clean install of this particular ROM (Factory data reset, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, etc).
Just thought I let ya know that not all JB roms are scary right now. If you're interested in possibly flashing it, here's the official website: http://hellybean.site11.com/index.html
Don't forget to backup your /EFS folder though, recently some people have had problems with their imei being switched, but this is easily avoidable if you take the proper precautions. Other than that, this ROM is great.
Yeah, I actually mentioned Helly Bean on page 1, it was the JB rom I was considering because it was getting rave reviews.
I had a scare last night about my IMEI then I remembered my IMEI doesn't match my box because it was warranty replaced with a refurb for the shutdown issue, lol, I was freaking out but good thing is it made me backup the EFS folder.

As with any custom ROM there is a potential for odd things happening on one phone that doesn't happen on another. With that being said I flashed helly bean and it didn't format my SD card nor has it effected my efs folder like some people have had trouble with.
Your best bet is to backup everything important to you and the operation of your phone prior to flashing just to be safe.

I flashed pac-rom but it keeps my phone awake 24hrs even when i am sleeping therefore 70% battery consumption when i am sleeping and everyday i have been posting in that thread for help or update but dev has left,and this was a stable version with never ending problems for me.So i want to remove this and see if the other rom also behaves like this or not.

As i said i am newbie things are not clear to me and what i asked in the question is not mentioned clearly and exactly.And since 7 days i am stuck in this esp last three days coz either the rom is a problem or need to be reflashed.And how to remove gapps etc that is not clear dear.Anyone who has a helping nature would write few lines or steps if he wants to help.My head is screwed up with this rom,nothing is working properly and all the time i am busy with my phone.Can't even open my eyes now as i have been continously looking at small screen.
Do not know if i have to reset the phone again or what,how to remove gapps as i do not have google store,gmail and maps in that. I always try to help a newbie coz i know he will not understand things clearly and can screw up,and in my case an experience person can tell if it is some thing else i should do along with that i.e if he would be concerned.

@kitu34: The procedure for flashing a new ROM is always the same:
1. Download the ROM, put it on your SD card (I recommend creating a folder in your SD card for your ROMs, kernels, etc., so that they're all in one place, but that's just a suggestion, not a requirement. Optional: Download the recommended GAPPS package for the ROM (if the ROM comes with built-in GAPPS, no need to download this).
2. Boot into recovery. You should be able to reboot into recovery simply by pressing power button > reboot > recovery. If not, then shutdown the phone and press & hold power+volume down+home.
3. In recovery, perform a factory reset (wipe data & cache), wipe dalvik-cache, and wipe system.
4. In recovery, flash the zip of the ROM you want to install (the procedure for this depends on your custom recovery; just browse around the menus for the option to flash a zip). If the ROM has a separate GAPPS package, you can also flash it here. Note: Always flash the GAPPS after you flash the ROM, not before.
5. Reboot system.
Flashing a custom kernel uses the same procedure, except you only wipe cache & dalvik-cache in step 3.

Just confused whether to reflash pac rom or flash either rashed's 10.1 or Jenkin's.Maybe first flashing went wrong coz i am having lots of problems and the phone is awake 24hrs.I want a good rom but battery friendly

Update the ROM? Do you mean flashing a newer version of the same ROM? Some ROMs can be updated by simply wiping cache, dalvik, & system (no need to wipe data), then flashing the new version. Personally, I advise doing a clean install every time when installing a new ROM, even if it's just an update. That means a full wipe: data, cache, dalvik-cache, & system. A clean install helps you avoid potential errors.

If you want good battery life, then I suggest staying away from Jelly Bean ROMs for now -- the battery drain is huge. If you want to try a stable JB ROM, then the latest Jenkins build is good, as long as you don't mind battery drain and a couple of relatively major bugs (those being bluetooth A2DP not working and wifi hotspot reboot).
If you want a relatively more stable, but still high-end, ROM, then stick with ICS. Hephappy's CM9 is good (check the thread in the General LG-P500 forum), or if you want a tweaked & modded ICS, then get neko95's ICySNAP.
That said, the king of battery life still is Gingerbread. I'm personally using the latest unofficial CM7.2 build by FitAmp; it's stable and with good battery life, better than ICS or JB.

ok then for now i will try jenkin's coz that was the first rom i downloaded on my pc but did not flash.actually i have serious battery and other issues that is why i am just getting rid of this now and then read about the roms you mentioned.after fashing i will tell you how it goes and if that also has a battery issue then the next...so kind of you to help as there are very few people here who really want to help.(the other day grgtm from cebu really helped me when my phone went in fastboot,cebu guys are damn good hehe)thanks a lot

Yes, Rashed's mini gapps is for all cm10.x roms, including the Jenkins builds.
Edit: By the way, grgtm is from Romania, not Cebu (Philippines). You probably got him mixed up with someone else.

The home button not working is a result of a GAPPS error when the system partition is too full. You'll need to trim the ROM prior to flashing (search the cm10 thread; it's too complicated for me to explain here) or download the version of cm10.1 with built-in GAPPS. The fact of the matter is, our phones has a very small system partition, hence why we have to go to all this trouble when using JB.

You're seriously going to need to learn how to help yourself, @kitu34. Instead of asking for step-by-step instructions all the time, try looking for them yourself; simply using the "search this thread" function and running a search for "trim" in Rashed's thread would give you what you need. Thanks,i did search the thread by the relevant keywords but was not clear that i simply have to remove apps after flashing or before or what and the link you gave did not strike me would be for trimming.Now i know as someone told me to use titanium but the link i have not read fully but it is helpfull and will read now.Thanks again

I tried Jenkins with rashed's mini gapps and worked perfectly(except battery drain), instead using an tool for rom editing, use an app like root uninstaller to get read of unnecessary apps to free some space on internal memory or use an d2ext script(but it got some strange behavior from my phone, you need a really fast sd card, an class 10 for that, and a reliable brand, mine is class 4, so in the final, sd card will worth half price of the phone)

Thanks,i have both titanium and es explorer,can i do with that by simply uninstalling system app? Actually someone told me not to this way and instead trim the rom.Even i am confused what is the difference.Either it creates problems or the amount of space we get by uninstalling with titanium is less compared to trimming the rom.
I will later what i did later.
