[Q] Droid Razr Maxx HD XT926 Bootloop - General Questions and Answers

So I found a root for the Droid Razr Maxx HD XT926 that I've been looking for for a while and it worked. I had some rooted apps running on my phone and everything was great. Well that same night I dropped my phone and cracked the LCD so I couldn't do anything but I could hear the phone boot looping. It took like a ten foot drop onto a sharp object. I had a donor phone sent in that had an intact screen and replaced it and turned it on to a boot loop. It would get a little bit through the boot then freeze, shutdown, and start over. I've done the factory data wipe a few times but no joy. After like 100 reboots it finally pushed through but it no longer had the root. So I was using for about an hour and then I shut it off. When I start it back up, it is in the boot loop again. What do I do to get it out of this? Do I need to SBF or something? Is it just coincidence that my phone is in a bootloop after rooting and then dropping the phone violently or is it just the root messing with the phone?

Looping Factory Reset

About a week ago I picked up my shiny new RAZR HD (Australian Telstra), and the following day the Jelly Bean update rolled out to it - so all was going well. After a few days I was noticing that my phone had a lot of wakelocks and decided to do a factory reset just to see if it was something that came along with the update as I hadn't really paid attention in the 24 hours I first had the phone...
It ran through the wipe process and at the end briefly flashed the red triangle error android, but when I eventually got into the phone it had wiped and I thought nothing more. Jump forward to last night and I'm flying home to my parents place so turned off my phone for the flight - and when I tried to turn it back on later it firstly didn't want to turn on, and when it did it went through the update/wipe screen and the error. When I got into my phone it had wiped.
I have tested a little bit and found the following:
If I try to turn the phone on normally it goes through the process of wipe and error out.
If I try to get to factory recovery on the phone via the boot menu it goes through the process of wipe and error out.
If I power on to the boot menu and select Normal Powerup the phone will turn on without wiping
So obviously I can get the phone on, and avoid wiping the device, but it's a bit of a pain. I don't have root, and am away from my home PC with ADB (and don't really have the bandwidth or equipment at my parents to get access to it) - so I was wondering if there was anything that I could do to rectify the situation without voiding warranty or would I best be served by just going to Telstra and asking for a replacement?
Warranty it, is my suggestion. Updates shouldn't cause those problems. If you hadn't rooted your phone prior to the update, you should be able to get an over the counter replacement.
Return it for sure. Don't put up with a headache that is not common.

[Q] Randomly Getting Stuck at 4G splach screen

I got my new Galaxy S3 with Android 4.1.2 last Saturday. The day I got it, I backed everything up, deactivated it, rooted it, got everything how I wanted it, reactivated it, then backed it up again.
Every few days, the phone will spontaneously get stuck at the 4G Splash Screen. It just happened again this morning. To get it working again I've tried wiping the cache, wiping the delvik cache, and fixing permissions. However it never works. The only way to get the phone working again is to restore the phone from one of my backups. It's so ridiculous, that I've been backing up my phone just about every other day so I don't lose to much when it happens.
The first time it happened was on Sunday. I looked at a snapchat, sent a text, then left my phone on the desk to get some food from the kitchen. I came back not 10 minutes later and it was stuck on the 4G splash screen. To get it to power on, I had to restore from backup.
The 2nd time it happened was on Tuesday. I was in the middle of class when I suddenly hear the startup sound and it stuck on the 4G spash screen once again. I lost everything from the last two days when I had to restore from backup. After this point in time, I've made a backup almost everyday.
Today, Saturday, it happened for the 3rd time. The last backup I made was on Thursday and I had to restore from that. I awoke this morning to the phone stuck on the 4G splash screen, still on the charger. When I went to pick it up, it was ridiculously hot, it has an OtterBox. After restoring the phone, the battery was only at 80% capacity --the whole time of which it was plugged in. Meaning the phone must be getting stuck in some intense loop at the 4G splash screen if it's consuming more power than even the charger can provide.
This has to stop. What wrong with this phone? Why does it keep getting stuck at the 4G Splash Screen? Why is it even randomly rebooting?

[Q] RAZR M (Razr i) stuck on boot screen. can't access recovery

I own a Motorola Razr i (or DROID RAZR M if you are American) , had it for just under a year but today apps started to force close, cleared app cache and put my music on but mid way through a song my phone just stopped and powered off. I performed a soft re boot (power key + volume down) and the phone went onto the boot screen, the small red circle with the 'M' for motorola in the middle. Usually after this it would say 'intel inside' but it will not go past this. Ive tried everything but can't even get it into recovery mode, i took it apart and took the battery out but no matter what i do, press all the buttons together for 30 seconds etc. nothing will work, can any one help? thank you in advance, really can not afford a new phone so need to fix it!
Was it hot when it happened?

[Q] Maxx stuck on boot animation

So, i ordered a new Droid Turbo yesterday morning and last night my Maxx completely crapped out on me for no apparent reason.
it just rebooted randomly and now won't get past the red droid circle. rebooted it many times, went into recovery and cleared cache... i'd rather not lose the several days of text messages since my last backup.
I've got plenty of time and feel determined to fix this. anyone got any suggestions? adb isn't loading during the boot sequence.
can i use something to flash /system without flashing /data to see if that helps? i stopped looking at flashing things once i got this phone so i am pretty unaware if there is a process.
Since my new phone arrives today i really see no reason to wipe this one. I'd rather just mess around with it to see if i can fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you get into bootloader? If so you can use house of moto to flash stock and keep data.

[Q] RAZR MAXX HD boot loop

Hey all,
First of all, forgive me if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find any threads that had a solution to this specific problem that worked for me.
That said, I have a Droid RAZR MAXX HD that I rooted and flashed to page plus just about two years ago. I have since unrooted the phone. It was running on jellybean 4.1.2 if I recall correctly. The phone has been great and I've been very happy with it till today. I shut it down, nothing out of the ordinary, just decided to turn it all the way off. When I later went to turn it on, it got stuck in the middle of the little boot animation where the robotic iris opens to reveal the red eye. It froze there for 3-5 seconds and then rebooted only to do it again. Funny thing is, it freezes at a different point every time. Some times the red eye is completely visible and sometimes the iris hasn't even started to open. I tried booting without the sd card and when that didn't work I tried all the other typical stuff: simulated battery removal, cache wipe, factory reset-wipe-format. I also tried a stock system data wipe as well as a stock recovery, both with mattlgroff's Doid RAZR utility from AP Fastboot mode. Still nothing.
At this point I'm at a loss. I bought this phone for $300 back when it was the phone to have and it's been a great phone, I don't want to lose it if I don't have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just a quick update.
I decided to take my phone apart and see if there were any loose connections that might be causing issues with booting. I didn't find any loose connections so I put it back together, and decided to try booting it on a whim. To my surprise, it booted perfectly. A few weeks ago I installed ancleaner, and app that claims to clean your cache, yada yada. I'm guessing that somewhere along the line, it managed to corrupt a deep system file or the cache or something. Regardless of what really happened, my phone is alive again, and I think that it was probably due to physically disconnecting the battery. So moral of the story is, don't trust the simulated battery pull, and physically disconnect it for a time instead.
