Sorry if this question is a little basic but my Transformer has been collecting dust for months and I've forgotten some of the rooting basics.
My bootloader is unlocked. I'm rooted and running CleanROM. My recovery is Team Win 2.2.2. I am on Android 4.1.1.
I would like to unroot and take any and all OTA upgrades and then move to the most up to date stock rooted rom.
Could really use a simple step by step run down on how to make that happen. Thanks in advance.
So I downloaded
ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T Firmware: V10.4.2.18 Only for US SKU (Android 4.1) - 2012.12.06 update
ASUS Transformer Pad Kernel Code for Android 4.1 JBOS (V10.4.2.18) - 2012.12.06 update
Can I just flash these from twrp2.2.2 to achieve my above stated goal?

The most recent version is actually V10.6.1.27.5, and you can flash that via fastboot. There is no need to flash a kernel after the stock ROM.
Got it all set! Ended up just flashing the firmware from the Asus site through twrp. Very happy now. Thanks.

I want to unlock my Infinity but when I was going to download the unlock tool from the Asus website I read that it only works for ICS .. I already did the OTA for jelly bean and still want to unlock. So my question is will the unlock tool work for jelly bean?

Yes, it has been confirmed to work on Jelly Bean by multiple users. It will work fine.

I used the unlock app on JB and it supposedly worked. The message "your device is now unlocked" or something similar was displayed.
I still have some questions:
1) How can I be sure my device is unlocked?
2) Is all the fuss about the .30 upgrade concerns nvflash only and not unlocking in general?
3) Would I be able to use custom ROMs in the future? Is there specific tools I will need to achieve that?
P.S. I use GNU/Linux on the desktop. I have both the SDK and the NDK installed. I already use adb sometimes and I know my way around CLI environments. I'm just new to Android and all the vendor lock-ins.

The good news is YES!
I did it yesterday and now I am unlocked, rooted using the method posted by hiemashu (how to root JB), updated recovery to TWRP2.2.2.2 64bit version, flashed with ULE 1.1 ROM and since updated to the newest TWRP 2.2.2.3.
The only thing to make sure of is that you use a USB port connected directly to the Motherboard. I tried one via a multi-card reader and while I was able to fastboot reboot I could not flash until I changed port.
Go for it! You won't regret it! Anyway, it's not really yours 'til you void the warranty!!!
Cheers,
Eric

How about the USB port on the keyboard / mobile dock? Or are you suggesting we'd need an OTG adapter directly into the TF700T tablet itself?
When i run the unlock tool, I get the message "the device model is not supported". Is there a work-around for this?

No, it didn't. Thanks for you reply but I discovered what was wrong: I followed a link within this or another thread to ASUS's unlock tool for the TF201. When I realized this, i simply downloaded the device-appropriate drive and am now unlocked.
Yes unlocked my infinity on jellybean 4.1.1
I unlocked via official asus unlocking tool and now i want to root it but i dont know how to do it. I never rooted bcoz its my first android tablet so can anybody help me with basics of how to root my infinity running jellybean 4.1.1.
Is there a way to root on this firmware version? I've done the searching but I've only managed to find things that supposedly only work for ICS.

Because of security increases in JellyBean there will not likely be a root method found for a while. Best to root before updating and use rootkeeper.
Oh crap. Thank you.

I updated my TF700T OTA to JB and need to return it to ICS so I can root it.
The developers forum here has the correct ROM US v9.4.5.30 but has no md5 listed with it.
Asus webpage only carries the Jb ROM now. I would like to get the firmware with md5 listed and
a tutorial for rooting a TF700Twith CWM. I used CWM in rooting my Toshiba Thrive and liked the results
I have read so many links on this and found many of them used outdated or incompatible programs for
what I need. I know it should be easy but I like this pad and do not want to brick it.

You can not root with CWM, you only can use CWM to flash root if your device is unlocked. If you are locked you need to use debugfsroot method can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588

The bootloader is not the problem, your user data folder is. You might have to move it to the relevant location manually.

It is sometimes relocated to /data/media/0 or sometimes it is just a soft link /storage/emulated/legacy. I may be wrong, but it looks that way.
how exactly would one go about doing this... i've heard both thte it can work with a locked bootloader and the you need to have an unlocked bootloader versions. i've tried one method suggested here at xda but to no avail. can someone who has actually done it (with a locked bootlader) shed some light?
