Possible Fix for Watch Styler not Appearing in Gear Manager - Samsung Gear 2

I'm a Note 3 (Beans ROM) / Gear 2 user. I was experiencing the issue that many others reported where Watch Styler doesn't appear to fully install, hangs at "Installing" and although Watch Styler would appear in my app drawer, it never would show up in Gear Manager under Clocks. I'm happy to report that it's working now and I wanted to try to help others experiencing the issue.
Essentially I followed steps 1-11 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52433453&postcount=9. I also installed the Gear Manager.zip from BeastSpencer. After the reboot however, my Samsung Apps wasn't showing up in my drawer. I was able to open Gear Manager and connect to my watch, but I couldn't install any apps from the App Store within Gear Manager. The apps would start downloading then the screen refreshed and the option to Install appeared again. When I realized Samsung Apps was missing, I opened Google Search on my phone, typed in "download samsung apps" and followed the links to download the app store from Samsung which took me here: http://apps.samsung.com/mars/mw/apk_en.as?COUNTRY_CODE=USA. From what I remember when I clicked the "Phone" button to launch the installer, nothing happened...Samsung Apps never installed. I had to choose the Re-install Phone button. After this I was able to go back to Gear Manager and install Watch Styler. Now it appears to be working...well about as well as everyone else's anyway. I'm still experiencing the following issues, can't load digital watch faces I've downloaded from gearfaces.com (i think everyone is having this issue), and occasionally when I'm trying to switch from one downloaded theme to another, Watch Styler throws an error about being "in a call" even if I'm not. When this happens I just select one of the default watch faces that's included with Gear Manager, then click on the settings icon for Watch Styler, then I'm able to select and apply a new theme.
Good luck, hopefully this helps out someone else with the same issue.

you posted this on the other forum and I replied there that it doesn't work for users on the galaxy s5 ,maybe for others but im just saving others on the s5 some time and trouble going through all this to have the same results as watch styler not showing up in Samsung apps and watch styler not showing up as a choice under clocks then setting a theme.

I think you have me confused for someone else? I haven't posted anything like this before. Maybe this won't help people with the S5....but several Note 3 users have the same issue as me, so I'm hoping it might help them. Cheers.

Can Some one try the app Tunnelbear.. It lets you set your vpn to another country... Maybe than you can download the Gearmanager

Please report back to me...

I cant, for the life of me, ever find that .zip file that BeastSpencer is supposed to have.

This worked for me! Rooted Ricks ROM build 7 on the Verizon Note 3. Of course it was a process and a pain in the ass but I finally got watch styler to work and the gear manager is slight different looking. Downloaded the Samsung App file directly from Samsung though the zip didn't work.

Just a shot in the dark here how about putting the apk inside /system/priv-app then reboot instead ?

Watch Styler App - NOT WORKING

Has anyone successfully installed the Watch Styler App on their Gear 2/Neo? It seems that several people are saying "no luck". When I try to install it shows "installing", but nothing happens. I cancel the install by shutting it down... Then, I see it on my Note 3, but there is nothing on the watch (under "home screen styler", "clocks")
Thoughts? It is showing a lot of positive reviews. But I suspect those are all from the GEAR 1. I don't think this is suppose to be available for our Gear 2 quite yet.

I got it to work on my Neo just fine. I didn't install it on my watch but I was able to set an analog face from my phone. Digital still doesn't work right. I downloaded it from Samsung's store and it ran perfectly.
Where did you install it from? I know people have been having issues when downloading it from Gear Faces.

I was trying to install from the gear app store... Yes, like I said I can install the app on the phone but it's not on the watch. In other works I cannot change the watch face to what I have selected on the Gear.
Mind you I was very familiar with watch styler from my gear 1. I even reset my gear 2 to see if that would work. Nothing.

Correct, Sir. I cannot get to the point where you are. I have no "watch styler option" on my Gear Manager (on phone).
Seems to be a problem with folks who have a Note 3.

I have a Note 3 and it works just fine. Like Johnnynho said the one from gearfaces does not work. I can confirm that on a Note 3. I installed from Samsung App Store and then rebooted my phone.
Tried everything. No go. It keeps getting stuck on "installing".

Tried deleting and reinstalling, different series of powering down, reset my entire gear...tried everything.

Strange indeed; I'd no problems with Watch Styler installing from Samsung Apps in Gear Manager:
By the way: you know this forum has a search-function? Why are you starting a new thread, when there is already one about Watch Styler where these probems are also mentioned?
Watch Styler
There isn't a resolution in that thread either. I've uninstalled gear manager, started from scratch with the entire process, and still no luck getting it to appear in gear manager. I'm using an ATT note 3 with dynamic ROM.

hi guys
i have a note 2 with custom rom when i tried installing watch styler through samsung apps it installs on the note2 however it fails to install on the gear2. so i tried pairing it with a note 3 with official rom and it worked. so i guess it has to do with the custom rom

Mine actually installed even though it was stuck at "installing", I rebooted and it was there. My issue is that when I create a face, I don't have the watchstyler option in my clock faces list to apply the face.

Yes, that is EXACTLY the problem I was having.
I tried everything in the book, including removing any and all updates for Samsung App's, and then reinstalling. Now I finally got it to work.
The problem is I most likely cannot duplicate what I did to correct the issue, so it's no good for me to tell you
Something seems fishy...there had to have been some conflict. Mine works now! (Kind of odd how the package works, you have to be a bit of a tech nerd to make it work)

Has anyone lost apps or watch faces from the gear manager?

So far I have lost Feedly and two watch faces that I downloaded from the store. Clicking on them in the store simply tells me to view in the gear manager as it should, but they aren't there. One of the watch faces I paid for and have never been able to use it as it failed on the install and can't be brought back, as described above.

Fixed -
The cure for the problem was to uninstall the Gear Manager app, which drops all of its information regarding your downloads, backups, etc. Then you re install it and re download all of your purchased apps and faces, etc. It also required a reset of the paired watch, but at least I was able to start over fresh and see all of the apps/faces I had bought and downloaded.

[Q] Gear 2 apps not showing up

So I downloaded quite a bit of apps for my gear 2 from the Samsung store e.g. appy geek. They don't show up on apps and if I click on the app from the store, it says view app in gear manager, but just shows gear manager home page. Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Check your device is compatible, as the connection of your gear to your phone would depend on your version of Android. Also check in the samsung apps (galaxy apps) store instead of the Play store
Anyone found a solution yet?

I have a VZW S4 (SCH-i545), running Hyperdrive RLS19 and a Samsung Gear 2 Neo (SM-R381), Samsung Apps v14040104.21.007.1, Samsung Gear v2.2.14110499.
I cannot seem to dl and install gear 2 apps and have those apps show in gear manager or on the gear 2 itself.
I even tried moving the apk from downloads to system >apps, but move fails.
The process shows the black, "save file" then "install file" windows, that take up the entire screen
In what folder are Gear apps supposed to be stored, for use?
ETA: So I changed phones. I am now trying the Neo with an S4 on MDK and the Bonestock 1.1.4 ROM.
Every app I have tried has shown on the Neo. Both Watcher and Watch Styler.
The issue now is that when I get out of range and the Neo disconnects BT, it does not auto re-connect upon returning within range.
With the other phone it auto re-connected every time, but most apps would show. GRRR!

Thanks for heads up, I have succeeded to update from Samsung Galaxy Apps, so updating directly from gear manager fails and after update it wouldn’t connect to my Gear Neo after couple tries it is connected now.
And now I was trying to open up Gear manager again it said there is a update… Again it fails through the app itself but when I open it from Samsung App store it updated another 3 files. It connects again to my gear and app version is 2.2.14092499 now.
So I thought it is working and tried to open Gear manager and it says still there is an update, checked in Samsung App store and there is no update there, if I try to update from the Gear app itself, I get same problem as above.
I will wait to see how Samsun fix these issue, did reboot and cleared the cashes several times on my first try too, it doesn’t help. I am not going to install the ones you posted above, not that I trust that but just to wait and see what Samsung does about this.

I had the same problem as you. The only thing that could solve my problem was to uninstall Gear Manager from Samsung store and install it again.
Maybe you have have tried this already.
Skickat från min GT-N7100 via Tapatalk
There was a reason why I didn't do that. I didn't want to loose my Gear apps.
But after your suggestion, I removed the app and reinstalled again. The app version is still same as the one I mentioned above. But I had to install all my Gear apps again because Gear is pushed to factory reset, which is not so big problem if the Gear app store didn't have constant network issues.
At least after a while I could install everything back but now I didn't have the wstheme files on the watch. Put those back on the watch again and I can use my favorite app Multi-Watch again.
Bit stupid of Samsung, if you ask me. Pushing a update which cause problems. I am not the only one since in the app reviews at Galaxy app store more people complain about it.
I had to factory reset two times in two weeks because of Gear Manager updates.
As you said I needed to install everything again on my Gear. But I haven't seen any improvements with these updates and Gear appstore and Samsung Galaxy appstore sucks with network connection. At least they could send us an update log.

Totally agree with you. It is not like I am side loading apps on my Gear, 4 of these apps are paid apps so a better restore abilities wouldn't hurt anything, and time consuming installs with a lot network issues on Samsung server side is really annoying.
I think my Galaxy note 2 will be my last Samsung phone for a while. I have had too much problem with their own software since I've started to use Galaxy S and now Note2. Problem with the phones software, problem with Kies and now with the Gear's software.
Good hardware, but bad software.

[Completed] App is Interrupted during installation... (SOLVED)

Hello guys,
I would like to get your opinion about the problem that I am experiencing at the moment. And I am sure there is an easy solution that I can not figure by my own.
I have Sprint Galaxy s6 Edge Plus paired with Gear S watch. And I was so excited when I search is there any GoPro App that I can use with my watch instead of buying the GoPro Remote Controller. And yeah someone already did and looks really cool! So there is an Lite Version and Paid version. So I start installing both at the same time. And my watch start acting weird. I am not sure is it because the installation or something was wrong and I did not notice. But screen is blacking out and some of the apps were missing the icons on the main menu.
So I had to restart the watch couple of times and I did not solve the problem. And then I hard reset the watch (Factory Reset).
But the Galaxy Store still showing the GoPro App for Gear S installing! So I reset my phone as well! ANd then went back to Galaxy App Store. The both App (GoPro Lite and Paid version) shows INSTALLED!
So there is no app anywhere. Anyway I click the app on Galaxy App Store. It says "Move To Gear S" and I do click that. It just brings me to main page of Gear Manager! Nothing else.
So luckly I have the same setup with my wife. So I installed the app successfully on her phone and everything looks good on her end. App is also on her watch too!
I emailed to the App Owner to send me the installation file so I can install manually and get rid of the issue (I guess). I did not hear from him yet!
So I download some apps to see the root files since mine is not rooted! But I can not see any GoPro Gear S related app on the app/app menu or since I am not rooted I see empty on mnt/asec !
If I back up my information with using the Smart Switch I am assuming it will back up all the info that is stored on the phone so I am worrying that Galaxy App store will see the same like installed after the hard reset and restore process which I do not want to waste my time with!
But I still think that there must be a location that Galaxy App Store reading this info and assuming that the app is installed (partially installed and the file that makes the store to recognize as installed is in the file) so if I delete this files I can successfully re install the app and make it easy solution!
I will appreciate for any help!
