I'm sorry to necropost, but I have exactly same problem, and this thread seems to be the only solution provided by google. I have to say that these files do not fix the problem.

Post the mediainfo of the video you are trying to play. It's likely not a video format supported by your phone's hardware.
You can also still post links with less than 10 posts, if you disable "Automatically parse links in text" before posting.

Which device?
Are you using any custom rom?
Can you upload logs?
1. Install mx log collector from google play
2. Open mx player, when you get error click on ok to close the player.
3. Now immediately open mx log collector, save the logs & upload here

Problem with MX Player (x86)
how I can attach report bug in this forum???
www86.zippyshare.com/v/mpROUw50/file.html
Well, my first guess is that the Emulator doesn't have a proper Android media framework implementation because it's an emulator...
Aside... why do you need to play videos inside an emulator anyways?
thanks for your response;
I tried it in Lenovo ideapad u430 touch i7-4510u and it work fine, and in my laptop Sony vaio svt1313V1ES i7-3537 it crash;
I used the same version of emulator.
My guess is that it's more to do with how the emulator is responding to the system it's running on.
I'll wait for the developer to look at the error log, but I doubt it will tell him anything useful.

It may depend on how the hardware decoder works on emulator.
Have you tried S/W decoder...?
It should work regardless of device.
