[Q] Did anyone try the Pure Audio MOD? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just came across this one and it caught my attention: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293589. Didn't find any mentions to our device or people using it on the thread so I am looking for feedback here.
Thoughts?

Interesting, thanks for the feedback! I might just do it, currently on stock but will wait for further opinions.
How much better is it though? HIGHLY noticeable?

it is noticeable...the STOCK audio is mediocre compared with DPS...and Puresound is in my ears better that DPS, more clearer...
on the other hand i used to have DPS manager on the Stock rom...so if pure sound dosent work you can always install DPS manager and have simillar results ....but EVERYTING is better than stock EQ

Bump. Anyone else?

Beats audio remover

In my opinion beats audio really hurts the audio quality with good players like poweramp. therefore I made this little zip to help people remove it. It should work on any rom, but I take no responsibility if it doesn't (please tell me though so I can try to fix it).
To install: copy zip to root of sdcard, make a backup in CWM (recommended), then just chose zip from sdcard and flash it.
all it does is delete all the beats files and add back a few in an unmodified form.
file is attached
Nice work! We need more uninstall scripts in my opinion. So its not like all or nothing when installing add-ons and themes. Even though I don't have Beats I thank you.

thanks, I wish our roms had more options for these things upon install or something, or at least more settings like cm7 has. this was super easy to make, it just took forever since I had to type the name of every file and make sure I didn't need to replace it.
Nice. Good to see that you figured it all out...
works on galaxy ace 2th gen
i just wanted to confirm this workx on 2th gen galaxy ace (the i version)
This is great. I am pretty sure I saw a couple Beats removers floating around but I feel much better using one by lkrasner. Thanks man! Keep doing stuff like this!
big problem
tried the beats remover on my galaxy sl and now i've lost all my audio... no sound from music..no notification sounds. no ringtone.... but can hear calls..

When the removal utility was available for a particular phone, A2 in this case, why use this on any other phone
Good job Ikrasner! :good:

Sorry man, I hope you took a backup. This was intended for the A2. The removal part will work on any, but there are some files that are device specific to be added back.

Now working! Not optimised so warning about battery use. Will report back. Seems very impressive improvement in sound quality though, best on headphones, of course.

It's temperamental. So, sadly I can't tell you how to get it to work. I will say the sound improvement is marginal after listening a bit more, not nearly as good on RAZRi as on later phones. May be a hardware limitation. Did you open it after installation, check speaker and/or headphone, and get asked for and successfully install the drivers (being rooted on your RAZRi - essential). Many people have a problem here though I had no problem. The Guide to set up I used is here, and I've kept to the "model" settings so far: http://vipersaudio.com/blog/?page_id=43.
A lot of people have problems with getting it working, though. And there is no simple solution. If you can make it a system app, that can help, though I've not found it necessary, as can checking force Viper. The blog above again gives the only published advice that I'm aware of. Sorry, and good luck.
UPDATE:
the app Viper4audio, it can support 86x plataform...i installed today and it works like charm...
the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
but i prefer the sound of xperia phones (walkman).
In XDA, there is a MOD of this app (walkman) and their configuration (xloud, etc.) for all android system, but i cant made work in my phone... i left the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730431
i hope anyone can port it and made it work
Awesome!
It really works well and can increase and improve the audio levels. I recommend it
What viper settings help increase volume level on bluetooth headset?
Can anyone share this secret...

I don't know. It's not getting any interest. U can try it and let me know.
Alright, sorry for being late ..
I wanted to check almost all the sound mods possible and get my hands dirty once and for all haha
Thanks for your hardwork , thanks for sharing ..
Now if I understand.. What this mod does is .. Changing the system files in charge of speakers control .
Say .. Speakers are set to work at 80% power by manufacturer , and this mod allows it to squeeze the 100% ... Am I right ?
I found it to be doing almost the exact same thing other apps do .. Except ..
It feels much cleaner and no bloatware or further libraries modifications which is great IMO . also I find it to not effect the quality as much and feels a bit louder than other speaker increasing apps " maybe my feelings tho "
I suppose it will work with any stock based ROM , it is working properly on 4.1.2 , yet .. I'll still advice making a NAND back up =)
I tried to do somewhat reasonable test running a video file , using a sound meter app on my mobile to test " not super accurate but tried to be as frank as possible , same situations, same video , same everything "
I got like 52-ish dB before , and a wooping 63-ish dB after .. Which is super good IMO
Difference is worth using and I'll keep using this mod until my tablet gives up on me ..
Thanks again .. You sir are a scholar and an artist .

Thanks for being the first review and for this encouraging post. I place another device with noise meter 2cm close to the speaker and got this 100ish dB result.
My mod only modified speaker volume but it's not to 100% also.
Originally, it 68% on stock rom. Right now, it is 73%. You still can increase it more, but the output will be distorted and the quality will decrease noticeably. I prefer quality over loudness
It works as promised:good:

My pleasure
Well in that case.. could you kindly guide me sir on how to do it myself,
or providing a file with an even more volume.. ?
I agree that quality is over loudness.. But.. the speakers are really low..
And... we can always lower the volume, but we can't increase it.. =)
There are some tight situations when you desperately need some more volume ^^'
Thanks =)

Thank you Sir very much for this. I tested it just for 5 minutes ago with my xtz sgp321 (4.4.4) with a Timwin Recovery-System and it works fine. I had to have louder volume because I use my Navigation-System very extensiv and now I must say it's optimal. But I'll follow this thread everyday from now. Thank you again.

Sorry guys for the wait. I was pretty busy perfecting my StereoMOD for xperia Z. Btw, v2 will be aroma installer and it will be ready in hopefully this weekend or else next week. You have choices like various volumes for speakers, x-loud volume, and headphone boost. And let me know if u have any suggestions, i'll see if it is possible.
EvoMix kernel does my job for all the speaker and stuff! Just install kernel adiutor with it and increase the speaker gain. Maybe you can do some improvements with EvoMix kernel and BeastAudio giving away optimal performance for audio and battery usage Just a suggestion
Sorry guys i forgot that i made this mod. Let me rebased it to lollipop when i have time!

I think it's easier to open the file snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3 with file editor and set sound settings for a limit you like, for example 68 or 71 or 75.
Also in 5.0.2/5.1.1 fimwares sony deleted xLOUD from sound settings that made sound less loud.
I have mod that restores it.
edit .. wrong thread.

Best way to improve sound and camera quality on 4.4.4?

Hi guys,
I was wondering if there is any options left to improve sound and camera quality on the Nexus 5? My hearing isn't the greatest but I can hear perfectly fine on my moms cell and other cell phones. If I could get the volume a tad higher on my Nexus 5 that would be great. Also, another problem I am having is I have Rottweiler puppies that I am trying to get pictures of. They don't like to sit still so I am always having to refocus and when I try to refocus the pictures just look like crap. Like the lighting is always messed up and stuff. Is there any way to fix this? I use to use the volume mod and camera mod which seamed to help a bit. However, I do not see any new releases for the newest android build. I had tried installing them a while back and I could not boot so I don't think they are compatible anymore. If someone could offer me some alternatives I would be very appreciative.
I got one more question as well. If I want to fully clean my internal storage before installing a custom rom what is the best way to do so? Is there anyway to remove the folders for installed programs but still keep the files there needed for rooting? I hope that makes sense. After doing a factory reset I still see folders from previously installed programs and apps.
Thanks,
Rocky
I would seriously consider installing Jishnu's Camera Fix. Make sure to grab Version 1.5. I had similar complaints not too long ago and this mod fixed most of them. Best of all, you don't have to download any new Camera apps, this mod just tweaks pre-existing files.
The download links were removed from that thread for some reason. Here's a download link to the latest version: N5_Cam_V1.5.zip

Nah, that was a typo, my mistake. Version 1.5 is the latest version and I'd definitely recommend it. Check my earlier post, I edited it with a proper download link. Just make sure to flash the zip in recovery and you should be all set!

I'm assuming it'll work with any Stock or AOSP based roms. I'm currently running CM11 M9, using the Google Camera app, and it worked beautifully.

Hiya guys,
I am still having problems with the volume on my phone. In call it is very low! I have never heard it this low. I don't know what the heck happened but it seams like its even lower than normal now. I have tried viper4android but it doesn't seam like its making much of a difference. I'm not sure if it even affects in call volume or not. If any of you guys have any solutions please let me know.
Thanks,
Rocky

Good enough. Viper is still better but it's nice for the stock folks if they want to change it slightly. Presents are decent too
I agree. Up until 9.0.3, I just disabled it by default and installed V4A. I decided to give a try last night and was pleasantly surprised.

Good to know, thanks. Am one of the 'stock folks', I have rooted everything in the past and now I'm a bit reluctant because it's all good, lots of storage, no bloat. Didn't get the ota yet so am asking around. The bt sound improvement would be the only reason for me to root.
I tried it with my Sennheiser hd25 on 9.03 on theme classic(the rest are pretty meh) really suprising results:good:
*Now I'm aware you ask for Bluetooth
