Did anyone manage to install this? Mine just doesn't install things, no errors or anything, after reboot just prompts me to install again!
Yep same thing for me

Now working! Not optimised so warning about battery use. Will report back. Seems very impressive improvement in sound quality though, best on headphones, of course.

It's temperamental. So, sadly I can't tell you how to get it to work. I will say the sound improvement is marginal after listening a bit more, not nearly as good on RAZRi as on later phones. May be a hardware limitation. Did you open it after installation, check speaker and/or headphone, and get asked for and successfully install the drivers (being rooted on your RAZRi - essential). Many people have a problem here though I had no problem. The Guide to set up I used is here, and I've kept to the "model" settings so far: http://vipersaudio.com/blog/?page_id=43.
A lot of people have problems with getting it working, though. And there is no simple solution. If you can make it a system app, that can help, though I've not found it necessary, as can checking force Viper. The blog above again gives the only published advice that I'm aware of. Sorry, and good luck.
UPDATE:
the app Viper4audio, it can support 86x plataform...i installed today and it works like charm...
the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
but i prefer the sound of xperia phones (walkman).
In XDA, there is a MOD of this app (walkman) and their configuration (xloud, etc.) for all android system, but i cant made work in my phone... i left the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730431
i hope anyone can port it and made it work
Awesome!
It really works well and can increase and improve the audio levels. I recommend it
What viper settings help increase volume level on bluetooth headset?
Can anyone share this secret...

Nice effort but really falls flat. Adds a lot of noise. Doesn't appear to support many file types. Haven't narrowed down exactly what is supported. Flac is NOT supported. Lots or messages warning about gain too high, etc when I was fooling around. Hopefully with revision 10 or so, it will be nice. Have to say it's about time that someone has posted an equalizer.
works with cm_passion-07142010-094243 (CM6) but the UI is terrible anyway the equalizer works.
I know, I know, I should be supportive, and I know I couldn't do any better. That said, Astro Player blows this out of the water. 15+ bands, support for most file types, cover art, and a widget.
Worked perfect. Thanks for the greatfind.

Hello xda users,
I want to know if there is a way to increase the volume of the A701, especially the headphone output (I dont want to stress people around me with the build in speaker)?
Under normal circumstances the volume is great but e.g when travelling by train or plane I sometimes wish the volume would be a little higher, because of the noise from the environment.
I dont want to damage my ears, of course I know that high volume isnt good for health!
My SGS2 and my S+ got a higher volume through a new custom Kernel. Unfortunately there is no custom Kernel for the A701
Some media players can increase the volume of audio, but then it sounds messed up and its of course not systemwide (e.g. emulators etc).
Can anyone help me with this question?
I am running an almost untouched 4.1.1. Stock (Build Acer_AV051_A701_1.028.00_EMEA_DE, Image Acer_AV051_A701_RV05RC08_EMEA_DE) with Unlocked Bootloader and it's rootet.
Check out "Speaker Boost", ymmv
By omega centauri, works for headphone too.
Thank you for your answer, I will give it a try. Sometimes the solution is so easy I also read about "AlsaMixer" in the comments, if Speaker Boost doesnt work I will try AlsaMixer.
Thanks a lot!

Ha Ha, only because I didn't post it till yesterday :laugh::laugh: Was such a simple edit I didn't see a need to. Sometimes I forget to post things
Now, for a good audio mod, I advise
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
Use the CortexAx with NEON driver
Also, I use the Creative Zen IR samples.
You have to play with the settings, and you'll drop a couple notches in loudness, but the clarity and bass more than makes up for it.
Will probably cook it all into my Rom
Also, if you're running my Rom, I've cooked up a nifty little 30 step volume mod, rather than the 15 step (stock).
Have you ever hate the fact that the volume of your tablet is comparably lower than other Tablet? Have you ever tried to brag about your tablet but your sound is not as loud as their Ipad?
Then worry no more! I'm here to save you xD
BeastAudio™
This mod will turn your Xperia Tablet Z into a beast. The volume is much higher than Stock. It is estimated to deliver around 100dB from both speaker with clarity and bassboost.

I don't know. It's not getting any interest. U can try it and let me know.
Alright, sorry for being late ..
I wanted to check almost all the sound mods possible and get my hands dirty once and for all haha
Thanks for your hardwork , thanks for sharing ..
Now if I understand.. What this mod does is .. Changing the system files in charge of speakers control .
Say .. Speakers are set to work at 80% power by manufacturer , and this mod allows it to squeeze the 100% ... Am I right ?
I found it to be doing almost the exact same thing other apps do .. Except ..
It feels much cleaner and no bloatware or further libraries modifications which is great IMO . also I find it to not effect the quality as much and feels a bit louder than other speaker increasing apps " maybe my feelings tho "
I suppose it will work with any stock based ROM , it is working properly on 4.1.2 , yet .. I'll still advice making a NAND back up =)
I tried to do somewhat reasonable test running a video file , using a sound meter app on my mobile to test " not super accurate but tried to be as frank as possible , same situations, same video , same everything "
I got like 52-ish dB before , and a wooping 63-ish dB after .. Which is super good IMO
Difference is worth using and I'll keep using this mod until my tablet gives up on me ..
Thanks again .. You sir are a scholar and an artist .

Thanks for being the first review and for this encouraging post. I place another device with noise meter 2cm close to the speaker and got this 100ish dB result.
My mod only modified speaker volume but it's not to 100% also.
Originally, it 68% on stock rom. Right now, it is 73%. You still can increase it more, but the output will be distorted and the quality will decrease noticeably. I prefer quality over loudness
It works as promised:good:

My pleasure
Well in that case.. could you kindly guide me sir on how to do it myself,
or providing a file with an even more volume.. ?
I agree that quality is over loudness.. But.. the speakers are really low..
And... we can always lower the volume, but we can't increase it.. =)
There are some tight situations when you desperately need some more volume ^^'
Thanks =)

Thank you Sir very much for this. I tested it just for 5 minutes ago with my xtz sgp321 (4.4.4) with a Timwin Recovery-System and it works fine. I had to have louder volume because I use my Navigation-System very extensiv and now I must say it's optimal. But I'll follow this thread everyday from now. Thank you again.

Sorry guys for the wait. I was pretty busy perfecting my StereoMOD for xperia Z. Btw, v2 will be aroma installer and it will be ready in hopefully this weekend or else next week. You have choices like various volumes for speakers, x-loud volume, and headphone boost. And let me know if u have any suggestions, i'll see if it is possible.
EvoMix kernel does my job for all the speaker and stuff! Just install kernel adiutor with it and increase the speaker gain. Maybe you can do some improvements with EvoMix kernel and BeastAudio giving away optimal performance for audio and battery usage Just a suggestion
Sorry guys i forgot that i made this mod. Let me rebased it to lollipop when i have time!

I think it's easier to open the file snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3 with file editor and set sound settings for a limit you like, for example 68 or 71 or 75.
Also in 5.0.2/5.1.1 fimwares sony deleted xLOUD from sound settings that made sound less loud.
I have mod that restores it.
edit .. wrong thread.

Hey fellow unrooted brethren! I have an AT&T Note 4 and as you may know the Verizon and AT&T Note 4's haven't been rooted. I've always rooted my phones and one of the first things I would do is install Viper4Android. Since that's currently not possible, I looked for alternatives. I think I found the best alternative for us non-rooted users. It's called Noozxoide EIZO-rewire PRO.

It really is :highfive:. Sound quality out my phone through headphones is very important to me. Not sure why more people haven't been interested . Doesn't matter as much anymore as root may possibly be right around the corner and V4A is still superior.

Yeah it's not for everyone but maybe for some reason it wasn't your default music effect? I definitely noticed a big improvement in sound quality when paired with my fiio e12 amp and my m50x (for cleaner, tighter, better defined bass) or akg q701/k551 (neutral analytical cans). I even noticed an improvement in my car that doesn't even have good speakers lol. BTW, this app and an EQ app do two different things.

E series is supposed to have better sound quality. If you've used viper4android then think of it this way.
Pro series = v4a fx
E series = v4a xhifi
Also, only PRO series works with lollipop. Plus you need to do some extra steps to make it work.

I use it over bluetooth for my car. It does affect the sound quality a little bit, but no where like you would have with root apps unfortunately. With this app you're able to change the tone and some software effects but the actual quality of the audio is not changed, if that makes any sense... imo this app is better than nothing though.
Any version of this that's compatible with LP?

Hi,
I had check this app's for my Android Car Stereo, but there is no change in Audio Output.
Actually after upgrading to new firmware provided by the seller to fix reverse camera flickering issue, the OS firmware has issue with Audio output (bad quality output, less Bass).
So I tried the apps mentioned here, but it does not work.
Any idea to fix the audio issue on my car android stereo ?

Thank you thank you thank you! I have a Nexus 6P and really did not want to root it, being my daily phone and frequently updated by Google. Keeping up with OTA with root is a royal pain. I almost broke down because I have Viper4Android on my custom ROMed Samsung tablet(mostly due to Samsung's lack of updates) and my Nexus Player(only on Marshmallow but Pure Nexus rocks vs its limited stock ROM) and fell in love with it. I considered Neutron media player the best alternative due to its excellent audio processing and fantastic equalizer. But the problem is it is just a media player and does not cover everything else, though it can stream and play local media. All other equalizers have sucked. This app that you linked does not and it covers everything. You just saved me from being torn between having Google's latest updates and fixes for my phone and installing Viper4Android which I sorely missed whenever I played anything through Bluetooth. Thank you.

You are welcome! By the way I moved on to the Nexus 6P from the Note 4 because I realized I couldn't use an unrooted phone daily. The AT&T Note 4 was my first and last unrooted phone. I personally stayed stock rooted on my N6P for almost a year and didn't mind updating using adb to flash images rather than taking OTAs. I'm now on Pure Nexus and don't miss stock at all.
This app was better than nothing during my time with the Note 4, however, it definitely was no replacement for Viper4Android. Viper4Android processes audio much better, is more reliable, and way more feature rich. Plus, the ability to make even cheap headphones sound like much more expensive ones is a godsend. And Neutron media player is awesome! Best player for music stored in your phone. The audio quality is phenomenal from Neutron. I'm not trying to convince you to root your phone, but just letting you know there really is no replacement for Viper4Android. If you stay unrooted, the app I linked to in the OP is definitely your best alternative. Enjoy!
Very nice of you!!
I'm rooted with viper, but still curious to see how it stacks up against the uncontested champ
Hi
Can anyone please recommend a good global equaliser app for the U11+?
I used to use Viper4Audio but as this is only for rooted phones it is hard finding a replacement that works as well on the U11+.
Thanks

I literally embarked on a search for one today. I just got this device and already miss my old one which had a system-wide EQ. Here's the one I tried that worked. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devdnua.equalizer.free
I do get a notification prompt that the app is running in the background and that leaves me worried about battery drain. I shall keep searching until I find an almost perfect one or until a custom ROM with Dolby ATMOS gets released.

Thank you. Yes I agree. HTC releases a phone with quality audio DAC but no system-wide/global EQ.
V4A is ideal but only works on rooted phones with permissive kernel, so for now we are left searching.

Hi I tried that app but as soon as I put the higher frequencies up the volume decreased and it changed the dynamics of the sound a fair bit. Same with the bass.
There ust be compatability factors with some devices that have enhanced (preset) EQ.
