If i was to buy an HTC one M8 directly from HTC or a supplier that doesnt sell the Verizon version, will the clean/ no blottwear HTC phone work smoother / faster / have better battery life ?
buttom line , is having a Verizon / AT&T or whatever phone effects performance / battery life ? or is it hardly noticeable ?
technically, yes, you will save battery. realistically, it's negligible (for me at least) the amount of battery saved without the verizon apps.

Absolutely crazy. You can go into app manager and disable most of the Verizon boat on stock.

I disabled just about everything verizon or Amazon with no issues. There's a written list somewhere in the forums you can search for

Am thinking, yes, a phone that is not under any carrier will work do fine compare to those who are branded. Maybe because of those apps that's pre installed and will be running though your phone is off.
Keep in mind that if you are on Verizon, then you can only use the Verizon version of the phone.

When you are still stock/not rooted?
Download battery status bar and it puts a small battery meter there instead and gets rid of the AT&T logo.
Looks so much better than the AT&T logo, plus you get a battery percentage.
Not bad till we have custom roms going
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Awesome and it gives me percentage. I hate going by the graphical battery meter that is so useless. "Hmm I have about 2/3 battery life left" and when I go to check it's like 35%.
Awesome, good find!
there a one click root out for at&t in the development section you use with your phone pluged into your computer. just root your phone and it goes away. exit htc sync on you laptop/computer and turn off firewall through system protection or the antivirus your pc is running before you run root. also i believe at&t shows up at boot for a second but goes away. its not on mine as i have rooted and my advanced task killer icon is there now.

I'm rooted an still have the AT&T logo. Yours isn't there because you have a constant notification on (i.e. Task Killer). This will work with any constant notification in the drawer, Batter icon, task killer, etc. Getting rid of the AT&T isn't an artifact of rooting, as far as I'm aware.
When you say, AT&T logo, do you mean the words with the cell tower name (AT&T; AT&T microcell)? Or is it a full logo?

oops, meant AT&T "word", not logo. but yeah, it says AT&T in the top left (in words )
I just use Mobile Defense with an active logo. Don't care for Task Killer apps. Just me. Lookout will do the same as well.
Notification Toggle does it as well.

Ohh... I see. I was wondering what to look for on my one x, lol. Yeah, considering AT&T already got their ugly name to replace HTC on the top, another one is a bit much.... But... It does show which tower/carrier you are on if you aren't on AT&T towers. For instance, mine tells me I'm on an AT&T microcell, right now.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Onavo Count also does this. It's a data monitor and a real good one at that. Basically any ongoing notification should hide the AT&T...But AT&T still comes up and flashes for a few seconds every time you unlock the screen.
The Onavo Count is a gray icon, small. The app warns you about things using a lot of data and lets you restrict them to WiFi only if you want...But in general it will show you some real good stats about what's using data and how much data you've used. You can of course configure it for your plan, reset date, and cost.

I've been playing with the build.prop to see if it's possible to remove it but no dice. Seems like it's coded into the system so we probably won't get a fix until we have deodexed ROMs.
I just upgrade TrickDroid from 4.3 to 4.4, the wifi issue is resolved, now I'm pretty satisfied with the phone.

You are getting ONE day+ with a massive use?
didn't fix it for me
My Wifi connection is solid but every couple of hours the wifi gets disconnected and reconnects. I have trickdroid v5.0 for tmobile. I beleive I tried the v4.4 for the international one s and it had the same issue. I did go thru all of the steps (bootloader unlock, root, fastboot script, and recovery installation of rom). I did it twice for good measure. i still have the same problem.
On a side note I'm not sure if this is related but my friend with the exact same tmo one s and I were doing speed tests. He Consistently got twice my speeds. We both have the same tmobile service and were at the location using the same server. He was using stock ROM and rooted.

I tried updating to the latest tmo radio and still no luck. I flashed the LeeDroid rom and I got high speeds, even though I flashed the newest radio on the Leedroid rom too. But I'm getting the same speeds as my friend is on his stock rom.
Also another issue I noticed with the tmo trickdroid v5 is that it doesn't recognise a (wired) headset for sounds or mic. Did anyone else have this issue?
update: the headset works fine on leedroid fyi

Did the HTC one S recieve an update to fix battery issues ? and whats the latest software version ?
Ive got a Sim free HTC one S and its running Software version 1.78.401.2
the reason i ask is im not getting a day out of this phone with moderate use, i mostly use it for twitter and dont play games on it and im getting about 11-12 hours between charges.
im hoping that ive not recieved the battery fix yet because sim free models are always last to get the updates.
Can someone let me know what the latest software version is please ?

its all stock, i have brightness set to auto, and i dont have 4g i have Hdspa+ or 3.5G
ive got it set to GSM instead of GSM/WCDMA Auto, ive got screen time set to 30 secs, i dont want to turn off anything else as it would defeat the object of having a smart phone.
What battery life are you getting ?
There is a big thread about "poor battery".
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670624
I for one can go 2 days on a single charge... however, unlike you, I am on a custom rom and only turn on features as I need them. Having a smartphone, you should expect to only get less than a day on a single charge. I would say 11-12 hours is pretty very good compared to other phones out there.
Dude use the other thread stop spamming the forums and qhile were at it I like the battery life on the phone think its quite good compared to something like apple lol

It was just posted, did you miss the 3rd post in your own thread??? dial that and hit send on your dialer, scroll through the options and you'll find out. Sounds like a bunk phone to me though if the battery is as good as the iPhone 5s! My wife has that phone and she uses it less than me and a full day she comes home with maybe 20% battery when i have at least 45% battery! iPhone has the worst battery life in any cell phone IMO! Even my work iPhone 4s i barely use at work for just text and calls and after a full day of work of maybe 20 calls and texts i have 35% battery left.

my battery lasts much longer than an iphone 5s. My wife has a 5s and its always dead by the end of the day. My phone is never even below 70% unless i play a bunch of games.
Hi All,
Been having issues with Nexus 5 now for a while and don't seem to be able to resolve it, originally my partner had the Nexus 5 from new since December 2013. She complained like hell about it so eventually I got in contact with Google and got them to agree to a new replacement device (I then kept the new one and she had my S4)
At numerous points through out the day the Nexus 5 while go into "roaming mode" (H+/4G logo replaced with R at the top) and the only way to get it out of Roaming mode is to go into Settings>More>Mobile Networks>Network Operators, from here to manually scan and then select auto again.
Google Play have sent me 3 replacement devices incase of a hardware issue but all 4 phones have had this issue now, my partners S4 and S5 dont suffer with the same issue and she is on Three aswell.
The one thing I have noticed is when I manually scan for networks Three comes up twice in the list, so maybe its an issue auto switching between then two?
Google keep trying to get me to run in safe mode, do factory resets etc but nothing works, I have now sent them a response today basically saying I've had enough and want to return the item so I can go out and buy a HTC One M8 (not holding my breath)
Nexus 5, Android 4.4.4 KTU84P on Three UK.
Anybody else had this? it seems to be Hardware and Network specific

You should try a custom ROM. As mentioned I've not had this issue for ages. I think perhaps not since I moved to SlimKat. Maybe give it a try? Root isn't activated in it by default so won't affect those 2 apps.

Not saying it will solve the issue for you, but I can say i haven't had this issue for a long time (and I used to a lot with Three) so its at least worth a try.
I don't have any special settings set. There is only an option for national data roaming but when we roam, we only get voice from Orange anyway. 2G I think

The black inserts that make up the letters on the back cover, are just stickers
I get this, but only in a low signal area.
I get this from time to time, on any phone I've used in the year I've been with Three (One M7, Nexus 5, One M8, Nexus 5). Usually fixes itself once back in a decent area

Installed Slimkat tonight using the following methord.
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Install CWM
3. Install Slimkat and Gapps
Now I'm not sure if its fixed the initial issue yet only a few days of testing will confirm that but I now have two more issues.
1. Even though I never rooted the phone, SkyGo and Barclays are saying its rooted and wont let me use them
2. The DPI is awful (very small) and it wont let me change it using an app because guess wot... I need root access

Try and edit the zip and reflash it without the su binary. You can also edit the DPI in build.prop at the same time.
